Iran Hosts Traditional Contests in Honour of Water

The fourth round of traditional “Kander Keshi” and “Jahleh Keshi” competitions has been held in a neighbourhood in the port city of Bandar Abbas, southern Iran.

“Jahleh” is a kind of jar which was used in the past to keep water in. “Kander” was also a lever made of wood to hold water containers and carry them.

The festival is held with the aim of protecting the water resources of Hormozgan province and reviving the regional customs.
