Iran Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his German counterpart, Heiko Maas, met in Tehran on Monday.
Maas is on a one-day visit to the Iranian capital which is believed to revolve around the 2015 Iran nuclear deal as well as the recent tensions between Iran and the United States.
He is due to attend a joint press conference with Zarif after their meeting.
Maas will also meet President Hassan Rouhani before concluding his visit.
