Iran Falling Victim to Cyber-Attacks: Minister

Iran’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology says contrary to certain claims, the Islamic Republic of Iran is current falling victim to cyber-attacks.

ICT Minister Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi says a number of Iranian websites have come under attack on Monday night.

“The (sources of) attacks have been identified and their scope has been controlled,” the Azad News Agency (ANA) quoted him as saying in a Farsi report.

“Fortunately, the attacks were foiled and controlled; however, we need to be more vigilant,” he wrote on his twitter account.

He further dismissed the claims about Iran’s cyber-attacks on other countries, saying “the more powerful we become, the more attacks we suffer.”

Azari Jahromi also emphasised that security of cyberspace and the preservation of cyber-assets of the country is very important, saying that training of up to 10,000 cyber security personnel is on the agenda for the next four years.

He added that training these people will be provided at special centres in universities across the country.
