Official: Cyberattack on Iranian messaging apps foiled

The CEO of Iran’s Infrastructure Communications Company says the country has managed to foil a massive cyberattack on Iranian instant messaging apps.

Amir Mohammadzadeh said the attack was aimed at preventing providing Iranian users with services. Mohammadzadeh made the comments in a tweet.

He added that the attack was to happen during the prime time of the messaging apps on Sunday.

Iranian organizations have come under numerous cyberattacks in recent years.

Some of the attacks have been confirmed to have been carried out by Iran’s adversaries, namely the US and Israel.
