Iran tourism: An ever-burning mountain in southwestern Khuzestan Province

Southwestern Iran is home to a small hillside that has been burning non-stop for years, creating a mesmerizing sight at night.

The fiery mountain, named Tashkooh, sits close to the city of Ramhormoz in Khuzestan Province.

The constant inferno is due to the igniting of escaping pyrophoric gases, which combust in contact with air.

The slope is considered a national heritage site and draws many visitors, who usually picnic by the flames and use them for cooking foods.
