Bakhtiari is one of the oldest Iranian tribes which has maintained its original customs. Bakhtiari men and women help each other to make provisions of the wedding ceremonies in the tribe, so that the families of bride and groom easily prepare for a happy celebration.
During the wedding ceremony, the village becomes full of women with long, well-covered robes of beautiful colours who stand in orderly lines and cheer; the bright colours of their robes shine under the sun; and their napkins wave and dance in the air.
What follows are YJC’s photos of a Bakhtiari wedding of Shaikh Robat clan, a great branch of Bakhtiari tribe. The clan’s people hold wedding parties with thousands of guests in Bazoft region.
