The International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA) Board of Governors unanimously approved a draft resolution which will close a case on the so-called possible military dimensions (PMD) in Tehran’s nuclear program.
The top diplomat said the draft resolution recently submitted to the IAEA explicitly says it has fully considered the IAEA chief's report on Iran’s PMD case and has closed it.
Iran believes that based on the IAEA final assessment, the Board of Governors should close the so-called PMD issue and pave the way for a new era of cooperation between Iran and the agency, says the Iranian deputy foreign minister.
Shamkhani said that with the release of the Amano report there remains no legal or technical reason not to close the case of past and present issues regarding Iran’s nuclear activities.
The report Amano is to release within days is only a first step. The next stage – a decision by the Board of Governors – is very important and sensitive.
FM Zarif has said, “We are certain that the past and present issues should be firmly closed in the Board of Governors’ resolution, which would likely be released over the next two to three weeks.”
AEOI spokesman Behrouz Kamalvandi has said that the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action is a bilateral agreement, expressing hope that both sides will properly heed their commitments.
There is hope that through Iran's cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency the fabricated file of Past Military Dimension (PMD) will be closed, Shamkhani said.
