Iran Presses EU to Separate Itself from US, Not to Dim Hopes

US Seeking to Sow Discord between Iran, Europe: Official

In a telephone conversation with President of the European Council Charles Michel on Thursday,  President Rouhani said the US’ “wrong and harmful” calculations result from its lack of understanding of Iran and the region.

The European Union needs to adopt stances independent of Washington and prevent Iran’s total disappointment with the Europeans, the president added.

“The European Union is a big power with a heavy responsibility in the world, and if it intends to take the path to strengthening regional peace and stability, Tehran will be ready for cooperation and partnership with the union,” President Rouhani stated.

“We believe that the opportunity for cooperation should not be allowed to be missed,” he underlined.

Responding to the European Council president’s sympathy over the recent incidents, President Rouhani said the massive popular demonstrations, from Kashmir to Iraq and Lebanon, in condemnation of the American assassination of General Qassem Soleimani indicate the late Iranian commander’s popularity among people and his leading role in the regional stability and security.

“By intensifying the sanctions against Iran, even on the medicine and foodstuff, the US resorted to an act of economic terrorism, and it violated all international regulations by assassinating Iran’s great commander,” the president deplored, calling on Europe to show reaction to the US’ terrorist activities.

“Iran and Europe are after regional stability and seek to cement the JCPOA again, and it is very important for us that Europe, China and Russia be able to play their significant role in saving the JCPOA, so that Iran’s interests are fulfilled,” President Rouhani noted.

He finally maintained that Iran’s five steps to reduce its JCPOA commitments have been aimed at keeping the balance of the nuclear deal, stressing, “Iran will keep working in cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency.”

In turn, Charles Michel expressed his condolences to Iran over the recent incidents, described the JCPOA as a result of 10 years of negotiations, and said the European Union will do its utmost to salvage the nuclear deal.

Highlighting Europe’s great efforts to play a positive role in the political sphere at the regional and international levels, Michel said the EU has repeatedly called on the US in recent days to avoid escalating tensions in the region.

“We are concerned about the regional developments and invite all parties to practice self-restraint,” the European Council’s president added.

He finally praised Iran for cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency despite a reduction of its JCPOA commitments.

London Owes Its Security to Gen. Soleimani, Rouhani Tells Johnson

In a telephone conversation with the UK leader on Thursday, President Rouhani decried the comments from a number of British authorities about the American assassination of General Soleimani in Iraq, calling on the UK official to reconsider their stances.

“Undoubtedly, without Martyr Soleimani’s efforts, you wouldn’t have had calm in London today,” the Iranian president told Johnson.

President Rouhani also emphasized that the recent Iranian missile attack on a US military base in Iraq, carried out in retaliation for the American assassination of General Soleimani, has been in conformity with the Article 51 of the United Nations Charter and with the right of self-defense.

“Should the US make another mistake, it will receive a very dangerous response,” he warned.

Paying tribute to General Soleimani as a popular figure in the region and a hero of the war on terrorism, President Rouhani said the US government’s terrorist activities have seriously threatened regional security.

“I can say after four decades of friendship and cooperation with General Soleimani that he always sought to strengthen security and stability of the region,” he added.

The president then reiterated that regional security must be ensured by the regional countries alone, stressing, “The Americans and the White House have no understanding of the region, and recognized what a mistake they have made after their terrorist measure and following the uprising of the regional nations and the unity that was created.”

The recent insecurity is totally rooted in the US withdrawal from the JCPOA and in its illegal measures, President Rouhani underlined, adding, “This terrorist action by the US was taken in contravention of all international regulations. They (Americans) have imposed sanctions even on the medicine and foodstuff for the people for two years, and committed a big crime by assassinating General Soleimani.”

He finally noted that Iran will resume honoring its JCPOA commitments if the European parties fulfill theirs, and stated, “Tehran is still committed to cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency, and the agency will be monitoring Iran’s nuclear activities like the past.”

The UK premier, for his part, expressed sympathy with Iran over a series of incidents that have occurred in the recent week.

Johnson also expressed concern about escalating insecurity in the region and about the safety of British troops, and called on all parties to show self-restraint.

Stressing the need to improve the ties between London and Tehran, Johnson said saving the JCPOA would greatly contribute to international security.

The British prime minister finally called for efforts to salvage the JCPOA, which he described as a major international agreement.

New IRGC Quds Force Chief: Other Nations Endorse Anti-US Resistance with Huge Rallies for Soleimani

General Esmaeil Qa’ani

Brigadier General Esmaeil Qa’ani, who was appointed as the new Quds Force Commander following the US’ assassination of General Soleimani, made the remarks in a commemorative ceremony attended by the Leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution.

He pointed to the massive rallies and ceremonies held by other nations of the world to commemorate the demise of the “international martyr”, and said the huge turnout showed these nations endorse the resistance against the global arrogance.

Qa’ani also praised the ‘faithful’ Iranian and Iraqi people for their million-strong participation in the funeral ceremonies held for Gen. Soleimani in various Iranian and Iraqi cities, and described the turnout as “unbelievable”.

The turnout showed off to the enemies the greatness of an entirely revolutionary country, he noted.

The general expressed hope that the assassination of General Soleimani will irrigate the young trees of Islamic Revolution in the region as well as the old trees of resistance.

He also pointed to the retaliatory missile attacks carried out by the IRGC Aerospace Force against a US base in Iraq early Wednesday, and said it was the first slap on America’s face, the biggest material power in the world.

“God willing, this blow will complement the very important decision made by the Iraqi parliament and the resolve of the regional nations to expel and destroy the inauspicious and dirty presence of the US and world arrogance from the region,” he concluded.

CIA, Mossad Designed Gen. Soleimani’s Assassination: Iran

CIA, Mossad Designed Gen. Soleimani’s Assassination: Iran

“The international state-sponsored terrorism network of the spy services of the US and the Zionist regime designed and carried out the criminal act with wrong calculations and estimates,” Major General Yahya Rahim-Safavi said Thursday.

“The ignorant president of the US, his criminal secretary of state, and the terrorist military of the country have now reached a deadlock following years of sanctions and pressures against the innocent nation of Iran,” he said.

This is why they commit such a cowardly and terrorist crime in violation of the international norms and law, he added.

Rahim-Safavi stressed that the US assassination of Gen. Soleimani has provoked public opinion of the world, the region, and the American people and elites against the US policies.

“The policy of sanction and pressure against the strong resolve of the Iranian nation is a failed one, and with God’s grace, the blood of Iranian and Iraqi martyrs won’t be wasted. By the virtue of these bloods, a chain of major cultural, security, and political changes will be made to the West Asia region,” the top general noted.

Iran Spokesman Raps NATO Chief’s Comments

Iran Condemns Bahrain’s Plan to Normalize Relations with Israel

In a statement on Wednesday, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyyed Abbas Mousavi strongly condemned the recent comments made by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in justification of the US assassination of Iranian commander General Qassem Soleimani, saying the remarks have been made in disregard of the principles of international law.

“The performance of this military organization (NATO), whose influential member is a terrorist state on a global scale, namely the US regime, has resulted in no achievement in recent years but devastation, wars, and insecurity for the people of the region and the world,” Mousavi noted.

“Justifying the US regime’s measure in the unfair assassination of General Soleimani is shutting eyes to the role of this great commander in the decisive and crucial fight against terrorists and destruction of Daesh (ISIS) and eliminating the threat of that savage terrorist group from the region and the areas beyond, as far as the European borders,” the Iranian spokesperson added.

Mousavi also noted that the NATO Secretary General has mocked the world public opinion by justifying the terrorist and thoughtless measure from the NATO’s biggest member before the shocked and worried eyes of the world to assassinate a high-ranking Iranian military official who has been invited by Iraq’s legitimate government.

The Iranian spokesperson finally expressed regret that the NATO has become a tool for justifying the measures by the United States and a number of its European allies to achieve their ominous political objectives in the region.

The Islamic Republic of Iran believes that security will return to the region when the terrorist activities of the extra-regional forces, some of whom are active under the flag of NATO, would end and providing regional security would be entrusted to the regional governments.”

US Given An Unforgettable Lesson, Iran’s Defense Minister Says

No Obstacle to Development of Strategic Arms in Iran: DM

Hours after Iranian missile strikes on US military bases in Iraq, Brigadier General Amir Hatami said the Iranian Armed Forces have given the US an unforgettable lesson.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a weekly cabinet session on Wednesday morning, the defense minister said the widespread support that people of Iran and Iraq showed for the late commander thwarted the American plots for creating regional discord.

Hatami also noted that the overnight missile attack on US airbase of Ain al-Assad in Iraq’s Anbar province was carried out with homegrown short-range missiles.

“For the first time in the history (after) the Second World War, a major American base was targeted, for which they themselves said they had paid a heavy cost,” the minister added.

In the early hours of Wednesday, the IRGC targeted two US airbases in Iraq, including the US airbase of Ain al-Assad in western Iraq, in retaliation for the US assassination of General Soleimani, who was martyred in a US drone strike in Baghdad on January 3.
