Iraqi Speaker Apologizes for Missing Rouhani’s Inauguration

The Iraqi parliament speaker has apologized for not being able to attend the Iranian president’s oath-taking ceremony.

Iraqi Parliament Speaker Salim al-Jabouri has, in an announcement, apologized for not being able to attend Iranian President-elect Hassan Rouhani’s swearing-in ceremony, which was held on August 5, 2017.

The top Iraqi parliamentarian said he would not be able to take part due to his tight schedule at the Iraqi Parliament where the country’s election law is being ratified.

His apology came after Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi also declared he would not attend the Iranian president’s swearing-in ceremony.

The Arab country was represented in the Saturday ceremony by Iraqi President Fuad Masum.
