Hundreds contract cholera in Iran; no deaths reported 

The director of the Iranian Ministry of Health’s Center for Controlling Communicable Diseases has said 360 people in the country have contracted cholera.

Dr. Shahnam Arshi said no deaths have been reported yet from the disease.

Dr. Arshi added that the patients are between 1 and 82 years old.

Cholera is generally contracted from contaminated food or water, and causes diarrhea and vomiting.

It can spread in residential areas lacking proper sewerage and drinking water systems.
