Head of Iranian Medical Council: Iran will have no heart surgeons in 5 years

The head of Iran’s Medical Council has warned about the decrease in the number of doctors and surgeons in the country, adding there will be no heart surgeon in the country in five years.

Mohammad Reiszadeh has said officials need to take urgent decisions in this regard to find a solution to the problem, or there will be no surgeons in some specialties.

He added that heart surgeons and anesthesia specialists are on the verge of extinction.

Reiszadeh noted that in the future, people will have to go abroad for even simple surgeries.

Doctors themselves blame the decreasing number of surgeons on high taxes.
