Zarif on Wednesday stressed that Iran will live up to its pledges under the nuclear accord as far as the Europeans do so.
He then referred to the ministerial meeting held between Iran and the three European countries following the US withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal in May last year and also a subsequent meeting and said during the meetings, the Europeans vowed to observe eleven commitments regarding Iran.
According to Zarif, the commitments included returning Iranโs oil money and making investment in Iran in transportation, aviation and shipping sectors.
โThey made the commitments during the meetings. In none of these commitments, there is no reference to the Instrument in Support of Trade Exchanges (INSTEX). There are only 11 commitments,โ he said.
Iranโs top diplomat then added having become operational, INSTEX serves only as a prerequisite for the implementation of the mentioned 11 commitments.
โThe Europeans must live up to the commitments. If you make a review of the appendix 2 of the JCPOA and go through article one to three, you will find out the deal makes it clear that it is not enough to say that the Europeans have violated a law. The repercussions of the violation should also be clarified,โ he concluded.
