Iran Holds Festival in Thanksgiving for Blessing of Date Harvest

The city of Minab in southern Iran recently hosted the second edition of the Mogh and Moshta Festival, which is held in thanksgiving for the blessing of date harvest.

The festival, which was held on August 23, puts on display the lifestyles of the people of Hormozgan province during the date harvest season.

The Mogh and Moshta Festival displays the significance of palm trees in the lives of the people of Minab.

In ancient times, these people used to prepare their food, house, and much of the equipment used in their everyday life using the palm trees; therefore, reliance on the valuable tree resulted in certain customs at the time of the harvest and processing of the product.
