Commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Hossein Salami visited affected areas on Tuesday to get a first-hand account of the situation on the ground.

Ukraine Plane Crash Case Should Come to Special Court, President Says

Ukraine Plane Crash Case Should Come to Special Court, President Says

Addressing a conference in Tehran on Tuesday, President Rouhani said the case of the Ukrainian plane is not an ordinary one.

“The Judiciary must set up a special court with a high-ranking judge and tens of experts to examine the case. This is not a normal and ordinary case, and the entire world will be watching this court of ours,” he added.

The president said he made great efforts to shorten the process of investigation as soon as he considered the possibility that the crash of the Ukrainian jetliner may not be ordinary.

He said the Iranian Armed Forces, which was the only path to discovering the truth, worked in close cooperation after the incident, adding, “Immediately after I became confident that a very painful and unforgivable mistake has been made, I ordered the relevant officials to inform the public.”

President Rouhani said the grief over the tragic incident was intensified after it transpired that a human error has caused the disaster.

Pointing to his talks with the leaders and officials of the countries whose citizens have been killed in the crash, the Iranian president pledged that his administration will pursue the case by all means.

He further described the Armed Forces’ candid admission of fault and their apology to people as a “good first step”, stressing that the subsequent steps must be also taken.

Highlighting his familiarity with the air defense systems, President Rouhani said such incident could not be blamed on only one person.

“Just one person who has pushed the button could not be culpable; there are others too. And I want this issue to be publicized clearly,” he added.

President Rouhani then denounced the US as the root cause of all the recent sorrows, saying, “It was the US that inflamed the situation, made the conditions abnormal, threatened us, and took the life of our dear one (Lt. General Qassem Soleimani)”

However, he underlined, this should not prevent Iran from examining all factors behind the plane crash.

The president further called on the Iranian officials to fully explain the whole process of investigation to the public, since when the accident occurred on Wednesday morning until the time when the Supreme National Security Council found out the truth on Friday night.

“All of our people share this grief, but they want to know whether their officials behaved correctly according to the rules and within the framework of moral principles,” the president added.

“This is not a small incident, but it is an issue relating to the security of Iran’s airspace. It is not only about 176 persons. Those we lost were undoubtedly very special to us, but the security of Iran’s airspace is greatly significant for our nation and for the world,” he added.

He then emphasized that anyone found culpable must be brought to justice, saying the Iranian administration feels responsible not only for the Iranian victims, but also for the nationals of other countries who died in the accident.

The administration will carry out all of its legal and judicial duties in this regard, Rouhani underlined.

He finally noted that people must be given an assurance that such incidents would not happen again, saying this would require a revision of the regulations and methods.

Iran’s Wetlands; Habitat of Migratory Birds in Cold Season

When the weather gets cold, more than five million migratory birds travel over 3,000 miles from northern Europe and Asia to various Iranian wetlands including the coasts of Persian Gulf, Gandoman Pond in the southwest, and Eshqabad artificial lake in Tehran province.

Most water birds such as ducks, Eurasian teals, egrets, herons, flamingos and pelicans prefer warmer wetlands in the south.

Meanwhile, birds like house sparrows, crowns, white wagtails, doves, black kites, sandpipers, harriers, northern lapwings, etc. come to Eshqabad seasonal wetland.

What follows are YJC and Fars News Agency’s photos of beautiful migratory birds in Iran’s wetlands:

Iran Condemns UK Officials’ Improper Measures, Comments

Iran Appoints Female Ambassador to Denmark

In a statement on Monday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, once again, strongly condemned the unacceptable remarks made by the UK regime’s prime minister, foreign secretary and defence secretary about US President Donald Trump’s act of terrorism in assassinating Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani, Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis and their comrades as being tantamount to London’s partnership and assistance in the US’ terrorist measure.

The statement also denounced the British ambassador’s attendance at a local gathering in Tehran as a blatant interference in the internal affairs of Iran and as being in contravention of the principles of diplomatic relations that raises suspicions of the UK’s involvement in the failed policy of the US’ maximum pressure.

The statement has also slammed the Monday comments from the UK foreign secretary who has threatened further sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

“It is obvious that the UK regime is still having anti-Iran delusions on the basis of a dangerous miscalculation and is seeking an escalation of tensions in the region and in its relations with Iran. The British leaders must know that the accusations against Iran could not cover up that regime’s (UK’s) blind obedience to the US, Britain’s scandalous failure to honour its JCPOA commitments, or even the refusal to abide by a verdict given by a British court on repaying hundreds of millions of pounds in debt to the people of Iran due to its fear of the US. Any new British mistake will face Iran’s harsh and proportionate reaction, and the UK government bears responsibility for all of its consequences,” the statement reads.

Mentioning the history of British colonialism in the Middle East, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said the era of interference of British ambassadors in the internal affairs of other countries, fomenting divisions and fueling domestic conflicts has ended a long time ago.

The UK must abandon such scandalous activities and realize that the time when the sun never set on the British Empire has been over for decades, the statement underlined, adding, “With all different tastes and views, the vigilant people of Iran do not accept foreign interference, particularly from the governments with a record of colonialism and support for dictators, and would not forget that the very same British government is the main supporter and arms supplier of those who slaughtered Khashoggi and who kill children in Yemen.”

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs finally called on the UK embassy in Tehran to stop any meddling and provocative measure immediately, and warned that if such behaviour continues, the Foreign Ministry will not be satisfied only by summoning the ambassador anymore.

Iran DM Urges Constant Opposition to US Presence in Region

Iran DM Urges Constant Opposition to US Presence i

In a meeting with his Syrian counterpart General Ali Abdullah Ayyoub, held in Tehran on Monday, the Iranian Defence Minister expressed gratitude to the Syrian authorities for their sympathy with Iran over the martyrdom of top Iranian commander Lt.

General Qassem Soleimani and a number of forces of the axis of resistance, who were assassinated in a US drone strike on January 3.

Brigadier General Hatami emphasized that the axis of resistance will keep going on after the martyrdom of the late Iranian commander, because resistance has turned into an “ideology and discourse across the region.”

Without the efforts by Lt. General Soleimani and his comrades, including the Syrian Armed Forces and people, the ISIS terrorist group would have definitely conquered the region, the Iranian minister added, stressing that Europe, Asia and the Americas owe their security to the late Iranian commander’s devotion.

“He (Soleimani) used to fight for peace. His capabilities and faith alone were deterrent factors against the excessive demands and the hegemony of the Western powers and the Zionist regime,” Hatami added.

Denouncing the US assassination of Lt. General Soleimani as a thoughtless move, the Iranian Defence Minister said US President Donald Trump made a miscalculation, was wrong to believe that elimination of a person would stop the axis of resistance, and increased the costs of presence of American forces in the region by taking such measure.

The opposition to the presence of US military forces in the region needs to become a constant and sustainable process, Brigadier General Hatami added.

He also described Iran’s retaliatory missile attack on America’s Ain al-Assad military base in Iraq as only a prompt action, stressing that the least that the public demands following the assassination of Lt. General Soleimani and deputy of Iraq’s PMU forces Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis is the withdrawal of US forces from the region.

The minister further reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to supporting the axis of resistance, and pledged that the Islamic Republic will stand by Syria in the era of reconstruction, like the time of war, and considers backing Syria as a “religious duty that contributes to regional stability.”

The Syrian Defence Minister, for his part, paid tribute to Lt. General Soleimani for his sincere and altruist efforts in the battlefield and in the war against terrorists, saying he got to know the popular Iranian commander when the criminal terrorist groups had occupied large parts of Syria.

General Ayyoub also lauded Lt. General Soleimani for his supports for the oppressed people of Syria, saying the late commander’s strategic views and tactics in Syria’s battlefields were always helpful for the Arab country’s commanders and nation.

He further praised General Soleimani as an exemplary role model for the axis of resistance’s youth and for Syrians, saying the late commander’s name will go down in history.

Ayyoub finally awarded Syria’s top medal of honor, on behalf of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, to Lt. General Qassem Soleimani, asking the Iranian Defence Minister to present the medal to the family of the revered martyr.

Iran Releases Video of UK Envoy Attending Illegal

The British ambassador, along with another person, was among the protesters chanting anti-establishment slogans in front of Tehran’s Amir Kabir University.

Police arrested the British ambassador, and handed him over to the foreign ministry’s representative, but he was released 15 minutes after the Foreign Ministry found he was Rob Macaire.

The person who was accompanying the envoy fled the scene and took refuge in the British embassy, Tasnim reported.

In another video published online, the UK ambassador claims he was there for a haircut at a barber’s shop nearby.

Rob Macaire was summoned to Iran‘s Foreign Ministry on Sunday. The Foreign Ministry said he was summoned for his “unconventional behaviour and presence” in the illegal gatherings.

Macaire was accused of “inciting” the protesters in front of Amir Kabir University.

On Saturday, a group of people had gathered inside and in front of the university to voice their protest after the Islamic Republic officially announced its air defence had downed a Ukrainian passenger plane mistakenly.

The General Staff of the Armed Force announced on Saturday the country’s air defence unintentionally shot down the passenger plane amid the highest level of alertness because of a possible military strike by the US.

Tehran has vowed to bring those responsible for such tragic incident to justice.

US Protests to Engulf Entire America: Iran's Top Judge

“In our view, because martyr Soleimani was the symbol of combating terrorism and supporting the oppressed, his assassination violates every law,” said Raisi in a meeting of high-level Judiciary officials on Monday.

He added that the violation can be followed up and “I call upon law scholars to shout their protest … The US claims to hold power but has flagrantly violated the law and committed such a horrific crime, so, if we condone the US violation, we will not be able to follow up any others.”

“We should collar American President as the first defendant. He should be prosecuted and taken to court in front of the world,” Raisi said.
