3 Iranian Films to Compete in American Film Festival

Three Iranian feature films will be screened at the 12th Silk Screen Asian-American Film Festival in Pennsylvania, the US, in September.

‘Kupal’ directed by Kazem Mollaei, ‘Inversion’ by Behnam Behzadi and ‘Lantouri’ by Reza Dormishian have been accepted in the main competition section, Mehr News Agency reported.

The 10-day festival will show over 25 feature-length films from 15 countries including India, Japan, China, Turkey, Lebanon, South Korea, Iraq, Philippines, and Iran.

‘Kupal’ is the story of a hunter and taxidermist who accidentally traps himself in his basement. With little food and no water, Ahmad Kupal must survive using creative and desperate means.

‘Inversion’ centers around a young woman who decides to take charge and find ways to better express herself in a smog-filled Tehran.

‘Lantouri’ is a social drama about a street gang in Tehran that robs people in broad daylight.

All the three movies have attended several international festivals and won awards.

Established in 2005 as a nonprofit media arts organization, it celebrates diversity and multi-cultural appreciation of the Asian experience through cultural events.

The 12th edition of Silk Screen will be held September 15-24, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
