Left-Over Landmine in Western Iran Injures Tractor Driver

An Iranian official says the explosion of a landmine remained from Iraq's imposed war on Iran in 1980-88 led to the injury of a man.

Qasr-e Shirin County’s Deputy Governor for Political and Social Affairs Nematollah Nazparvardeh told IRNA on Sunday that a tractor hit a military mine on the fields around Qasr-e Shirin.

During the accident, the driver got injured and was sent to the hospital.

He noted that some 12 mine explosions have taken place since the beginning of the current Iranian calendar year (started on March 20) as a result of which 9 people have been injured.
