Iranian Firm Manufactures Smart Electricity Metres

The new generation of metres, produced by Afzar Azma Electronic Company, have two-way interconnectivity with the centre and are known as GPRS metres.

They are more expensive than the normal ones, but of course, with higher efficiency. 400,000 of this type of electricity metres are currently installed by this knowledge-based company in various regions of Iran, and this figure will increase in the future thanks to its efficient use of energy, especially in the Iranian agricultural industry.

Some metres are designed for single phase power at home while others are suitable for three phase industrial powers.

Afzar Azma has been the largest electricity metre manufacturer in Iran and the region for almost 40 years. It produces both types of electricity metres. Smart three phase CTPT is the company’s latest product.

Earlier a Malaysian prototype was used exclusively in Iran, but Afzar Azma managed to win a recent tender offer to provide high-quality metres for one-tenth of the Malaysian sample’s price.

This knowledge-based company claims that it can offer its products even with a 30% lower price than the European model.

“We can produce about six million units a year,” says the company’s CEO, adding that 12 million metres have been installed across Iran so far and none of them were returned.

“We use anti-flammable polycarbonate body and produce almost all the necessary parts except some electronic components in our factory. We have exported 200,000 metres to Afghanistan since 1993. However, because of the sanctions, we have not been able to expand our exports, even though our product is as high-quality as European and American ones and less expensive than the Asians.”

He added the company has a full capacity for export, having received certificates from the Netherlands and approvals by all domestic users.

“About 90% of the domestic market is in our control. Considering the current state of sanctions, our target market for exports are Afghanistan, Iraq, Lebanon, Syria and Oman. There is a representative of us based in Afghanistan and Lebanon, and besides we participate at exhibitions in these countries once a year. Nevertheless, the company is ready to export products at competitive prices to all countries,” concluded Afzar Azma’s CEO.

Iran’s Energy Ministry’s national smart metreing program is aiming to monitor the electricity consumption across the country, especially among the large-scale subscribers.

The Islamic Republic is facing a rising demand for electricity and the Energy Ministry has been following new policies in recent years to manage the consumption to lessen electricity losses in the national grid.

Adjusting consumption patterns and also electricity tariffs has been suggested as practical solutions to reduce electricity consumption in Iran.

US Sanctions ‘A Crime in True Sense of Word’: Iran Leader

“We’ve been under sanctions since the beginning of the [1979] Revolution. The sanctions have continued more severely and exacerbated in recent years. And they are proud to have imposed the harshest sanctions even against the Islamic Republic,” Ayatollah Khamenei said on Saturday.

“This sanction is a crime in true sense of the word; that is an important threat condemned by the world’s public opinion. That’s because it is not a matter of the US sanction itself; it’s the matter of Washington’s imposition of coercive sanctions against others,” he noted.

The Leader made the remarks in a meeting with a group of Iranian Air Force commanders and personnel in Tehran on the anniversary of Iran Air Force personnel’s historic allegiance with Imam Khomeini in 1979. The meeting is viewed as a turning point which led to the victory of the Islamic Revolution three days later, sealing the fate of the US-backed Pahlavi regime in Iran.

“This sanction can be an opportunity; it has already created many opportunities for us, and can create a big chance for us in the future. If we officials act vigilantly, it can save our country’s economy from dependence on oil and rid the economy of oil,” he added.

He said he has received reports from the country’s defence officials that “a number of fighter jets or passenger planes have been repaired, overhauled, and that has generated huge amount of money.”

“When were these made possible for our Air Force? When it stopped pinning its hope on others; when others threatened us and said they won’t give, sell, and let us have them anymore,” Ayatollah Khamenei added.

The Leader referred to the military equipment purchased from the US before the 1979 Revolution, and said the US military companies have refused to deliver the goods to Iran and are still keeping them in their warehouses.

“Interestingly, a few years ago, they even asked for money in return for keeping them in their warehouses! These are the goods that they have been paid for: they refuse to deliver the good, and they even demand money for storing the equipment.

“This means they don’t want the Islamic Republic of Iran to have an efficient Air Force; however, the result [of these pressures] is that our Air Force – which could not and was not allowed to even repair a part of a jet fighter or passenger plane – is now building the entire plane.”

“This means Iran has turned threat into opportunity; turned danger into profit,” he added.

Iran Must Boost Military Power to Prevent War

The Leader further noted that Iran “should be strong to prevent any war against the county. Being weak will encourage our enemies to attack Iran.”

The Islamic Republic has developed its own “sophisticated” means of defence in response to the enemy’s use of increasingly advanced measures against Iran, he added.

How to bake Sangak bread at home

Step 1:

The sour dough used for baking Sangak bread is made a day earlier. Generally, the longer the fermentation of the Sangak dough, the better the quality of the bread.

Step 2:

A well-baked the bread has a hard crust but is soft inside. It is very crispy, too.

Step 3:

To bake Persian Sangak bread, we need something called sour dough, which is a bit different from yeast in that we use a small amount of yeast to make sour dough. Sour dough needs to be prepared 24 hours before making Sangak’s dough.

It also needs to be put in the refrigerator or in a cool place. To make our sour dough, we use three to four grams of dough along with 150 grams of flour and 2 deciliters of water.

Step 4:

Pour some cleanly washed pebbles on the bottom of an oven tray and place it along with the pebbles in the oven at 180 degrees centigrade so that the pebbles get hot well. Then put a container full of water next to yourself and get the Sangak dough out of the fridge after it has rested.

You need to note that this dough is loose and you have to use water to spread it and make your hands wet. Then spread the dough on a flat surface which is soaked in water.

Step 5:

Now get the tray out of the oven. After the pebbles get very hot, rub some butter or liquid oil on them using a brush. This is aimed at preventing the dough from sticking to the pebbles.

Then spread the dough on the surface of the pebbles and pour some sesame on the dough.

Place the tray in the oven until the bread gets golden on one side and gets baked. Now get the tray out of the oven and turn the bread upside down so that the other side is well done and golden as well.

At the end, bring the nan sangak out of the oven and after it cools, remove the pebbles easily.

Morteza Barari, the head of the Iranian Space Agency, says the satellite and its carrier Simorgh have no technical problems, and it will soon be launched into orbit.

“We have postponed the launch of Zafar so that accuracy is not sacrificed for the sake of speed,” he noted.

“The new date of launch will soon be announced,” he added.
Zafar is a monitoring satellite, which will be sent into orbit, about 500 km above earth’s surface.

It was earlier reported that the Simorgh rocket which will carry Zafar satellite into orbit has already been transferred to the Imam Khomeini Space Base in Semnan province, east to Tehran.

The Iranian satellite carrier rocket ‘Simorgh’ is capable of putting satellites weighing up to 250 kilograms in an orbit 500 km above earth’s surface.

Senior Spokesman for the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Brigadier General Abolfazl Shekarchi said US officials are unable to hide the truth.

“Heavy casualties were inflicted on the Americans during the attack on Ayn al-Assad base, and, in the coming days, they have to admit having suffered the casualties, and they cannot hide it,” he said.

The top general was referring to Iran’s missile attack on the base in retaliation for the US assassination of top Iranian general Qassem Soleimani who was killed along with Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, a senior Iraqi military figure.

General Shekarchi said the US assassinated general Soleimani in order to defeat the resistance front, but soon many people began to follow Soleimani’s way of thought “and the Americans suffered serious harm in a short time.”

“The Americans wanted to destroy the Shiite government in the country and sow discord among people, but after the martyrdom of Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis and his comrades, unity among Iraqi people increased,” said general Shekarchi.

He underlined that Iran should make every effort to tackle the enemy’s scheme and strategy of “infiltration” and not to be deceived by appearances.
