Iranian Researchers Introduce New Cosmetic Eye Surgery Technique

The test is used for those with droopy eyelids who go to see plastic surgeons to undergo blepharoplasty.

The test was developed by a research team at the Eye Research Center of the Iran University of Medical Sciences and introduced at the American Society of Plastic Surgeons by a professor who supervised the research team.

A considerable number of people with droopy eyes who see doctors for blepharoplasty also have droopy tear glands, which should be treated. Because of droopy eyelids, it is very difficult to diagnose droopy tear glands. Sometimes the condition is not diagnosed, leading to problems such as the protrusion of the outer part of the eyelid or tear gland fistula.

The new test developed by professor Kashkooli and his team can diagnose droopy tear glands with 100% accuracy before blepharoplasty.

As announced by the Iran University of Medical Sciences, professor Kashkooli, a faculty member of the university, has, so far, introduced to the world 14 new techniques, treatments and tests with regards to eyelid, eyebrow, eye socket and tear duct surgeries. These unique techniques have been presented at international circles and published as articles in reputable American and European journals. He has delivered speeches as a guest speaker at more than 15 countries, namely the United States, Japan, Spain, India, China, Turkey and Greece where he presented his new methods of surgery.

During the Friday meeting, which was held on the sidelines of Munich Security Conference, Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif praised the Chinese administration for its management of coronavirus case and thanked the Chinese government for helping Iranian students leave Wuhan.

The Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi also thanked the Islamic Republic for its cooperation in this regard.

Referring to a Zionist official’s statement that the job of targeting Iranian forces in Syria and Iraq has been divided between the US and Israel, Major General Hossein Salami said “We tell them you are wrong. If you make a mistake, we’ll hit both of you.”

General Salami emphasised that Iran has told them [Israelis] many times not to count on the US because they’ll either show up late or never come to help. 

Salami made the comments in a ceremony to mark the fortieth day after the assassination of General Qassem Soleimani. 

Talking about Soleimani’s achievements, Salami said that when he entered the battlefield with the Zionists, the Palestinians were fighting with stones, but now in Gaza and the West Bank, the Palestinians are firing a range [of projectiles] against the Zionists. 

“What he did had imprisoned Israelis in the region,” noted Salami.

Iran Manufactures Homegrown Dialysis Machine

Iranian Consortium of Dialysis started its job 66 years ago with more than 1,000 staff. The company is working on products used for dialysis patients whose kidney efficacy is below 10%. Using alternative methods it helps improve kidney function. It is a hemodialysis procedure where the patient’s blood is pumped out of the body to be filtered.

This is done by stationary machinery and disposable products that Novatis has both production lines. The company, with its specialised personnel and a large production line, has been able to produce three flagship products. One of them is the dialysis water purifier, which is the only company in Iran that produces this product. Navatis manufactures products in the field of water treatment as well.

The second product is the dialysis filter, which was first produced in Iran and has been exported to other countries. It has made Iran one of the first countries in the world that have an automated production line. The third case is a hemodialysis machine that has been operating for four years.

Previously, some jobs had been carried out in this field in Iran and elsewhere, but the production of dialysis machines with modern technology has been a tough job. For example, if there are four big companies in the world, Novatis has competed with them. Even though they have 100 to150 years of experience, Novatis has produced this machine in just a few years.

This machine is currently undergoing tests and is being sent to the market.

According to the company’s CEO, dialysis is currently free in Iran, but as the population grows in the future, the government will not afford the cost of dialysis and people will move on to dialysis at home. That is, to produce a super-intelligent system that can meet the needs of the patient without the presence of an operator.

According to him, due to the very good engineering expertise inside Iran, business development costs are very good and the domestic high-tech products are well priced; something about 40 to 50 percent lower than foreign samples but of the same quality and sometimes higher.

On the other hand, Novatis also has good international communications and it can provide after-sales services as well. However, due to money transfer problems in Iran, the company prefers to take raw materials from other countries and sell them knowledge and products.

The United States, Germany, Japan, Italy, China and another company in Iran have so far been able to offer these products. However, their prices are not comparable with the Novatis products.

In times like these, what are the primary defenses that will surely console us? What are the things we need to do to ease the anxieties? Whom are we going to ask for help if these adversities come? Let me tell you a secret; prayer is the key to having peace of mind and unity.

A Prayer for Serenity amidst the Chaos
Heavenly Father, grant our souls the peace we want for ourselves as we face the chaos of the world. Allow the calmness to rule our hearts and never let fears rule over our minds. The meeting was held on Friday on the sidelines of the annual Munich Security Conference.

Following the meeting with Prime Minister Trudeau, Zarif also met his Canadian counterpart François-Philippe Champagne.
The talks between Iran and Canada come a few weeks after the accidental downing of a Ukrainian passenger plane in Tehran, which killed all the 176 on board, including dozens of Iranian-Canadian citizens.

Following the tragic incident, Ottawa has been in touch with Tehran despite the Canadian government’s decision to sever ties with Iran in 2012.

Canada and Iran have had no formal diplomatic relations since then. Canadian consular and passport services are provided through other Canadian diplomatic missions in other countries in the Middle East while Iran maintains an interests section at the Embassy of Pakistan in Washington, D.C.
The government headed by PM Trudeau which took office in 2015, has reportedly been reviewing relations with Iran and, like most countries, lifted most of its economic sanctions following the Iran nuclear agreement in July 2015. But Donald Trump’s re-imposition of Iran sanctions in 2018 has once again reduced the chances for a thaw in relations.

Iran’s Embassy in Abuja held a ceremony to mark the 41st anniversary of victory of the Islamic Revolution.

In comments at the event, attended by a number of foreign ambassadors and diplomats, Iranian nationals residing in Nigeria, as well as the political and cultural figures, Iran’s envoy in the African country unveiled plans for a meeting of Iran-Nigeria Joint Commission in the near future.

Morteza Rahimi also hailed the growing relations between Tehran and Abuja, making a reference to a recent meeting between the Iranian vice president for economic affairs and President of Nigeria Muhammadu Buhari.

The ambassador further highlighted the Islamic Republic’s progress and the Iranian people’s perseverance against the economic and political acts of terrorism from the enemies, stressing, “The Iranian nation makes an opportunity out of every threat.”

Rahimi also reminded those behind the assassination of top Iranian commander Lt. General Qassem Soleimani that the flag of the fight against terrorism will continue to be raised by the late commander’s followers.

“There will be no place in the region for their (enemies’) terrorist acts,” the envoy noted.

In an event on the sidelines of the opening of the 13th International Tourism Exhibition and the 33rd National Handicrafts Exhibition of Iran, held in Tehran on Wednesday, Ali-Asghar Mounesan unveiled the national tourism brand, among other things, including the Tourist City plan, and the tablets certifying the inscription of the cities of Zanjan, Shiraz, and Malayer as well as Qassemabad village in the Gilan Province on the world list of cities and villages with handicrafts.

The ceremony was held at the Persian Gulf hall of Tehran International Exhibition Centre.

Iran’s national tourism brand has been unveiled considering the significance of the tourism industry’s potential in Iran and the formulation of the country’s document on the promotion of tourism, and is expected to contribute to the growth and development of the tourism industry in Iran.

Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Ali-Asghar Mounesan, his deputy Vali Teimuri, and the governors of provinces of Qazvin and Kermanshah stood on the stage in order to unveil the national tourism brand, the Tourist City plan, and the tablets certifying the inscription of Zanjan (the world city of Malile), inscription of Shiraz (the world city of handicrafts), inscription of Malayer (the world city of furniture decorated with inlaid woodwork), and inscription of Qassemabad village in the Gilan Province (the world village of Chador-Shab weaving) on the global list of cities and villages with handicrafts.

Apart from the tablets, the plans and the brand relating to the tourism industry, a number of other things were also unveiled in the ceremony, such as a three-layered full crystal dish, the logo of the national tourism brand, and the strategic document on tourism industry which has been already ratified.

The 12th Iranian administration has given special attention to the ecotourism projects, as the number of ecotourism inns has increased from 400 to 1,700.

The ecotourism plans in Iran have reversed a trend in rural exodus in many villages, in a way that even the urban residents have begun to migrate from the cities to villages.

According to the deputy head of the communications and information at the President’s office, Alireza Moezzi, the press conference will be attended by the local and foreign reporters.

“After outlining the administration’s stances on the major regional and international issues and developments, the President will be answering questions from the reporters at the conference,” Moezzi added.

The press conference, due to be held at the Presidential complex on Pasteur Street of Tehran, will include reporters and journalists from the bulk of the Iranian and foreign mass media.
