Iran’s Beauties in Photos: Wall Paintings in Chabahar

Iranian Artists Painting the Urban Space

Chabahar port city is located in the south-eastern Sistan and Baluchestan province by the coast of Oman Sea and the Indian Ocean. Its name has been derived from the term “Chahar-Bahar”, meaning “four springs” in Persian, which refers to the city’s temperate climate during the year’s different seasons.

Chabahar is one of the most thriving, prominent Iranian ports for being the closest route from Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan to the international waters.

The port city’s importance, however, isn’t limited to its commercial position: it is home to many tourist destinations. Among the most beautiful attractions of Chabahar are the Portuguese Castle, the Mud Volcano, the miniature “Martian” Mountains, and Lipar Wetland.

A while ago, a family painting contest titled “Draw for the Earth” was held in Chabahar with the theme of environmental protection.

The two countries have enjoyed relatively thriving ties in recent years, in spite of some disputes over issues such as Azerbaijan’s recognition of Jerusalem al-Quds as the capital of the Zionist regime.

Tehran-Baku trade turnover has amounted to $500 million in 2019, showing an 11 per cent year-on-year rise, said Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev on February 11.

President Aliyev had travelled to Iran in November 2017 to hold meetings with the presidents of Iran and Russia.

Iran Dismisses Israeli Threats, Warns of Harsh Response

Iran Vows Appropriate Response to US Interception of Mahan Air Flight

In a statement on Wednesday, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyyed Abbas Mousavi dismissed the claims and threats from an official of the Zionist regime against Iran, stressing, “The Islamic Republic of Iran will show a crushing and regrettable response to any act of aggression or stupid measure from that regime (Israel) against our country’s interests in Syria and the region.”

He also highlighted the terrorist and occupying nature of the Zionist regime, adding, “The foundation and nature of this regime has been based upon the occupation of the Palestinian territory and the neighbouring states, upon carnage, plundering the assets (of other nations), terror and aggression over the past 70 years.”

“The Islamic Republic of Iran has been present in Syria at the invitation and with the agreement of that country’s (Syria’s) government with the purpose of fighting against terrorism sponsored by the US and Israel, and our country will not hesitate for a moment over safeguarding its presence in Syria and defending its national security and regional interests, and will give a decisive and crushing response to any act of aggression or stupid move,” the spokesperson underlined.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran will also prosecute the Quds-occupying regime (Israel) for its threats and warmongering comments at the international circles,” Mousavi concluded.

His comments came after the Zionist regime’s defense minister, Naftali Bennett, said his regime has taken responsibility for countering the Islamic Republic in Syria.

Speaking at a campaign event on Saturday, Bennett said Tel Aviv and Washington have agreed to work in tandem to block what he called Tehran’s efforts to create a corridor for transferring men and materiel through Iraq and Syria to Lebanon and the Mediterranean Sea.

Pointing to Iran’s expectation from the French after the 2015 nuclear deal and the atomic collaborations between the two countries, Salehi described the beginning of the process of implementation of the deal as “successful”, yet voiced dissatisfaction of Iran with France’s failure to pay enough attention to the collaborations, including in the field of nuclear fusion.

Salehi stressed that “in case the current trend goes on, neither of the parties to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) can expect satisfaction with the deal,” describing Iran’s rolling back from its commitment under the deal as “aimed at maintaining the deal and striking a balance in it.”

He said the IAEA confirmed in its 16 successive reports Iran’s commitment to its obligations under the JCPOA, but Iran’s minimum expectations were not met. “Public opinion in Iran is seriously dissatisfied and demands reciprocal action.”

The French official, in turn, voiced his country’s regret over the US withdrawal from JCPOA and concern over Iran’s rolling-back steps, saying that France continues to support JCPOA “as it did in the past.”

Iran Vows to Strongly Continue Development of Satellite Carriers

Iran’s DM Vows Firm Response to Enemy’s Moves

Iran “may use a satellite for military purposes, but satellite carriers are a totally non-military issue”, Brigadier General Hatami said on Wednesday.

Possession of satellite carriers is the Iranian nation’s unquestionable and undeniable right, and that “we will strongly move the program forward, as there is not any prohibition thereof in the world,” he added.

Speaking to reporters on the margins of a cabinet session, the minister said “launching satellites and satellite carriers is a clear issue worldwide, and has nothing to do with the missile program.”

“What Iran has been called upon [under 2018 UN Security Council Resolution 2231] not to produce are missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads, and there is no such thing in the Islamic Republic of Iran,” he explained.

The remarks come after the French foreign ministry issued a statement on Monday condemning Iran’s satellite launch, urging Tehran to respect its obligations under the 2018 UN Security Council resolution.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo had also claimed that Iran’s satellite program is a cover-up for its development of ballistic missiles.

Stressing that all the missiles used by Iran have conventional warheads, General Hatami said, “Thank God, their [the missiles’] precision is very high, as the US felt the precision in Ain al-Assad, and thus we do not need anything else.”

In a post on his Twitter account, Morteza Barari advised the US and France to stop making allegations against Iran’s space program.

“I advise the American and French diplomatic organizations to study and review the story of the Mesbah satellite, which has been waiting for years at a European country to be launched into space, and to give public opinion an explanation instead of making bogus and hackneyed comments,” head of the Iranian Space Agency said.

The Iranian nation will not wait for anybody to accelerate its scientific development, Barari added.

His remarks came after the French Foreign Ministry condemned Iran for trying to put a satellite in space and unveiling a new ballistic missile, urging Tehran to abide by international obligations on its missile program.

In separate comments, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo also criticized Iran’s recent satellite launch, claiming that it was part of a larger effort to further a nuclear program.

Washington and Paris have levelled accusations against Iran while Mesbah, a satellite built in collaboration with Italy’s Carlo Gavazzi Space SpA in 1998, was seized by Italy because of the Western sanctions imposed on the Islamic Republic.

In January 2019, Iranian Minister of Information and Communications Technology Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi said Tehran should not wait for the other states to launch Mesbah communication satellite, adding the Europeans have backtracked on their promise to launch the satellite.

Iran President Orders Rapid Action to Aid Snow-Hit Areas

Iran President Orders Rapid Action to Aid Snow-Hit Areas

In a weekly session on Wednesday, the cabinet of ministers received a report on the status of the Iranian northern provinces following the heavy snowfall in the provinces of Gilan and Mazandaran.

After hearing the report, President Rouhani ordered the Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Minister of Energy, Minister of Information and Communications Technology, and the Minister of Interior to mobilize the whole capacities of their ministries to expedite the aid and rescue service work and relieve the problems caused by the adverse weather conditions.

Moreover, Head of Iran’s Planning and Budget Organization Mohammad Bagher Nobakht was appointed as the representative of the President and the administration, and is scheduled to pay a visit to the crisis-hit areas to address the problems in person after meetings with the people and the local officials.

At least seven people have been killed and 85 others wounded in the heavy snowfall and avalanches that hit northern Iran, especially Gilan and Ardabil provinces.

The heavy snowfall in Gilan, with a height of up to 1.5 metres in some areas, created serious problems for the residents of at least 52 cities of the province, such as power cuts in almost all areas including the provincial capital of Rasht.
