Iranian lawmaker Asghar Salimi says the 25-percent fall in the imports of pharmaceutical has been a significant achievement by the Iranian President Hassan Rouhani’s administration.
However, he added, Iran needs to use the expertise of its elites and doctors to expand the export of its pharmaceuticals to other countries and gain a larger share of the global market.
Iranian pharmaceutical companies should be supported and supplied with modern equipment to be able to increase their output, Salimi stressed.
The MP noted that increased domestic production of pharmaceuticals will both stimulate employment and, by making optimum use of young Iranian forces’ potentials and expertise, bring in additional revenues.
Urging domestic manufacturers of pharmaceuticals to enhance the quality of their products, he said to increase their reputation in the global market, Iranian products should meet international standards.
“Iran is still novice in pharmaceutical production and exports. We have to improve the quality of our products to a level that could lead to an increased global demand for the domestic medicines.”
Expanding the domestic output, raising employment, reducing purchase of foreign products and boosting exports are all among the Resistance Economy targets set by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, he added.
