Hyrcanian forests, remnants of the Ice Age in the Tertiary Period, start from the Republic of Azerbaijan and extend to Golestan Province in Iran.
These forests are rich in native and ancient species, vegetation and biodiversity, containing some of the world’s rarest forest species.
