Iran’s Nature in Photos: Hyrcanian Forests during Winter

Hyrcanian forests in northern Iran are home to various species surviving millions of years.

Hyrcanian forests, remnants of the Ice Age in the Tertiary Period, start from the Republic of Azerbaijan and extend to Golestan Province in Iran.

These forests are rich in native and ancient species, vegetation and biodiversity, containing some of the world’s rarest forest species.

What follows are IRNA’s photos of the Hyrcanian forests’ beautiful nature during winter in two regions: Olasbelangah village in the range of Talish mountains, Masal county; and Chelav mountainous district in Amol city, Haraz Road; both in northern Iran:
