The lake’s water surface has turned red due to the high salinity, halophyte bacteria and salinity resistant algal bloom called red tide.
The red tide phenomenon happens when the algae density of the lake is so high that it stays on the water surface like a layer, preventing air exchange with the water and causing decrease in the oxygen level.
This leads to the production of some type of poison that destroys or restricts the proper conditions for the lake artemia’s life.
