Rouhani: US Seeking to Ruin Bonds between Iranian People, Gov’t

In an address to a meeting of the Iranian provincial governors on Monday, President Rouhani called for efforts to strengthen national solidarity against the US plots.

“We should not allow Trump and the terrorists at the White House to succeed in assassinating the bonds between the (Iranian) people and establishment,” the president noted.

The Trump administration’s move to scrap the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), assassinate the revered Iranian commander Lt. General Qassem Soleimani, and its plan to upset the Iranian people’s calm and national unity are all components of a same hostile approach, President Rouhani noted.

He also warned that the US seeks to “build a wall around Iran”, misrepresent Iran as an isolated island, and separate the Islamic Republic from the world.

President Rouhani finally highlighted the significance of the upcoming parliamentary elections in Iran, noting that what matters most is to build trust and maintain the social assets.

Iran Congratulates Lebanon on Formation of New Gov’t

In a statement on Sunday, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyyed Abbas Mousavi expressed delight at the consultations among the Lebanese groups and their consensus on a new government.

“The formation of government under such regional and international circumstances and considering the will of the Lebanese people is a stride forward and a positive step in resolving that country’s (Lebanon’s) problems,” Mousavi said.

“We hope that the new government could fulfill the demands of the Lebanese people who have won great glories in resistance and perseverance in the face of occupation, bullying and the hegemony,” the spokesman noted.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran hopes that the new Lebanese government, which has been formed on the basis of the will of the people, could overcome all challenges in light of solidarity and strengthened national unity, and would carry out its plans for the inclusive progress and development of Lebanon and for creating security and welfare,” he added.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman finally voiced full support for the new Lebanese government, and reaffirmed the Islamic Republic of Iran’s readiness to further broaden relations between Tehran and Beirut.

Iran, Oman Discuss Safety of Navigation in Hormuz Strait

On his way back from the Swiss city of Davos, bin Alawi had a layover in Tehran on Sunday and held a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif.

In the meeting, the two ministers discussed bilateral and regional issues, particularly the mutual cooperation between Iran and Oman in the Strait of Hormuz.

Zarif and bin Alawi also reaffirmed the Iranian and Omani governments’ determination to keep working in cooperation and continue consultations for the purpose of ensuring the safety of navigation and the security of energy for all parties.

The two foreign ministers also called on all sides to play a positive role in that process.

Prince Charles Praises Iranians, Says Willing to Visit Iran

“Yes, obviously I would like to [go to Iran],” he was quoted as saying.

“I know that Iran has been such an important part of the world for so many centuries and has contributed so much to human knowledge, culture, poetry, art. I mean, really remarkable people.”

Asked about any future royal visits, a spokeswoman for Prince Charles said, “There are no plans for The Prince of Wales to undertake an official visit to Iran.”

Prince Charles’s wish to visit Iran comes at a time of heightened tensions between Tehran and the West.

Charles told the Sunday Times he tries to be a peacemaker and that he has prayed for peace in the Middle East.

“I do think the most important thing is a just and lasting peace,” he said in the interview, echoing comments he made on Friday during a visit to the Holy Land.

In February 2004, Charles became the first member of the Royal Family to visit the Islamic Republic after the 1979. He visited the country following the devastating earthquake of Bam in late 2003, which killed more than 40,000 people.

Britain’s royal family steers clear of politics, though Charles, who will become governor of the Church of England when he ascends the throne, has long spoken out on issues such as inter-faith dialog and the environment.

In his messages, Rouhani expressed hope that given the potentialities and capabilities, relations and collaborations between Tehran and New Delhi will be enhanced in every area and in line with the two nations’ interests.

“I hope that given the extensive cultural-historical commonalities, and the history of collaborations, we will witness development of ties between the two countries in each and every area,” Rouhani said.

Wishing Indian people “prosperity and happiness,” Rouhani said that “the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of India, enjoying ancient cultures and civilizations, have had a golden age of mutual ties behind them.”

Republic Day honours the date on which the Constitution of India came into effect on 26 January 1950 replacing the Government of India Act (1935) as the governing document of India.

The Constitution was adopted by the Indian Constituent Assembly on 26 November 1949, and came into effect on 26 January 1950 with a democratic government system, completing the country’s transition towards becoming an independent republic.

26 January was chosen as the Republic day because it was on this day in 1929 when Declaration of Indian Independence (Purna Swaraj) was proclaimed by the Indian National Congress as opposed to the Dominion status offered by the British Regime.

US President Donald Trump tweeted on Sunday that he will not accept Zarif’s proposal that the two countries start negotiations after US lifts its sanctions on Iran.

Zarif, however, struck back that Donald Trump is better advised to base his policies on “facts” rather than on “Fox News headlines or his Persian translators.”

Asked in an interview with Der Spiegel on Saturday whether Iran is still willing to negotiate with the US even after the latter assassinated Iranian General Qassem Soleimani, Zarif had said, “I never rule out the possibility that people will change their approach and recognize the realities. For us, it doesn’t matter who is sitting in the White House. What matters is how they behave. The Trump administration can correct its past, lift the sanctions and come back to the negotiating table. We’re still at the negotiating table. They’re the ones who left. The US has inflicted great harm on the Iranian people. The day will come when they will have to compensate for that. We have a lot of patience.”

In reaction to Zarif’s comments, Trump tweeted that “Iranian Foreign Minister says Iran wants to negotiate with The United States, but wants sanctions removed. @FoxNews @OANN No Thanks!”

But a few hours later, Zarif hit back, “@realdonaldtrump is better advised to base his foreign policy comments & decisions on facts, rather than @FoxNews headlines or his Farsi translators.”

Tensions between Tehran and Washington have been intensifying since 2018, when Donald Trump withdrew the US from JCPOA, and re-imposed severe sanctions on Iran economy.

The Airbus 306 had taken off from Imam Khomeini International Airport, where almost all Iranian international flights land and take off.

Scientists Use AI to Diagnose Various Types of Cancers

The molecular pathology of cancer is still limited to the use of a small number of biomarkers rather than the examination of all genes.

Part of this limitation is due to the challenges of computerised data analysis. To overcome this problem, researchers at the Royan Research Institute, Sharif University of Technology, and Colorado State University introduced deep neural networks (DNNs) that can infer the various properties of biological samples at the same time.

It encrypts all the transcriptome part of the genome on a small vector lattice (a computer-generated input image), then retrieves the mRNA and miRNA profiles based on tissue and the type of disease.

This method works much more efficiently than the original gene data to differentiate samples based on tissue and disease.

Researchers have used this method to examine 10,750 samples from 34 different groups (one healthy group and 33 groups with different types of cancer) from 27 tissues.

The results of the study, published in the International Journal of Scientific Reports, showed that the method developed in this study was significantly better than previous methods and conventional methods of using source tissue data, health status or disease, and it can predict the type of cancer in each sample.

For tissues with more than one type of cancer, 99.4% of all types of cancer were correctly diagnosed.

All in all, the results showed that using artificial intelligence can be very useful in molecular pathology of cancer and oncological research.

This project was implemented by Behrouz Azar Khalili, Dr Ali Sharifi Zarchi, Ali Saberi and their colleagues at Royan Research Institute, Sharif University of Technology, and Colorado State University.
