The Iranian cabinet has approved the establishment of a Chinese consulate general in the southern port city of Bandar Abbas.

The proposal was tabled by the foreign ministry.

The cabinet issued the authorization under the Vienna convention on consular relations and based on the principle of reciprocity and other relevant regulations.

The cabinet also approved the establishment of the Iranian consulate general in Armenia’s southeastern city of Kapan. The city is located in Armenia’s Syunik province, which hosts a key transit route with Iran.
