30th Tehran International Book Fair Opens

The 30th edition of Tehran International Book Fair opened on Tuesday (May 2) in a ceremony attended by senior officials at Shahr-e Aftab International Exhibition Complex in southern Tehran.

The Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Ali Larijani and Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Reza Salehi Amiri took part in the opening ceremony of the 30th Tehran International Book Fair held at Shahr-e Aftab (City of Sun) International Exhibition Complex in the Iranian capital on Tuesday.

According to a report by IFP, those interested can visit the exhibition from 10:00 until 20:00 on any given day during May 3-13. The motto of this year’s exhibition is “Let’s Read One Book More”.

A total of 2,782 publisher – 139 foreign and 2,643 domestic – have put their books on display at the exhibition in an area of 135,000 square metres. Foreign publishers are from 110 countries.

The number of foreign participants in the present edition of the fair has witnessed an increase compared to that of the previous one. They have showcased 47,234 books in Latin languages and 150,144 books in Arabic, in areas of 2,333 square metres and 2,085 square metres, respectively. The space allocated to domestic publishers is about 30,000 square metres.

Italy is the special guest of the 30th edition of the exhibition and Istanbul, Turkey, is its guest city.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Undersecretary of Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism Antimo Cesaro conveyed the message of his country’s President Sergio Mattarella, who had supported his Iranian counterpart in organizing and opening the exhibition.
