Is ITIL Dead? Facts Behind This Myth

Post the revision of revision in ITIL v3 which was released in 2007 and fully incorporated by 2011, ITIL became the most popular framework or process supporting ITSM. Several large organizations including banks and even government organizations like NASA abide by the guidelines set by the vast enterprise and have benefitted at large. To say the least, ITIL has built itself a solid ground in the ITSM sector. However recent talk about “ITIL is dead” that’s appearing ever so often on the internet and catching the buzzword bloggers’ attention requires addressing, especially now that ITIL 4 Foundation is released. Read on if you want answers to the big questions.

The big question: Agile vs. ITIL vs. DevOps broken down

Getting straight to the point. Firstly, it is time to address the fact that the question in itself is moot. It is like comparing apples and oranges. To compare the waterfall model to Agile or DevOps makes sense because the primary goal of both these approaches is to streamline workflow processes particularly during the software development phase ONLY. Note the stress on ONLY. ITIL, on the other hand largely focuses on end-to-end services and takes a fairly diplomatic approach towards the development phase. ITIL advocated for continuous improvement and has always done so. This apparent conflict of interest between software development models and service lifecycle models is merely a case of misinterpretation. In fact, we might go safe as to say that many of the concepts advocated in Agile and DevOps largely follow suit even in ITIL. To say the very least, might we say that it is rare to find an organization or even a team or individual for that matter who can see 100% results by sticking to one model purely. Most companies of today, and more importantly, most entrepreneurs of today are aware that you need to do what’s best for you. Like we always so, one can never have too many arrows in their quiver.

How ITIL integrated DevOps and Agile

Especially seen in the latest iteration, ITIL is all about continuous improvement at its core. Agile isn’t the platform out there that advocates continuous improvement; One should take time to address the very least is that one should address the key developments in It as a whole; there is SO MUCH DATA now; and so many ways to collect data; so many ways to interpret data; and so many ways to present and derive from it. Given the advent of automation has escalated quite a bit, it seems unlikely that incorporating a self-assessment that leads to continual improvement is against any process, whether it be Agile, DevOps or ITIL. The ITIL 4 Foundation training is a through and through to get you started on your journey to familiarise yourself with the terms and practices that are accepted worldwide.

ITIL 4: The new kid in the block

Just like the new kid on the block, ITIL 4 brings loads of goodies that are sure to get you excited. Whether you are looking at optimizing your organization ITSM strategies, or if you are just starting off on your IT career, it’s never too late to get involved with a global platform that takes business very seriously. ITIL has moved with the times and there are several modifications that pose well for the modern outlook. ITIL 4 defines best practices and is not just about defining terms and processes. That’s what gives it the extra judge. It acts as the be-all guide towards incorporating little things that lead to bigger outcomes. ITIL 4 foundation course is the new Industrial Revolution 4 and there’s every reason for organizations small and large to take the courageous step towards a better tomorrow.

Moreover, there are also modifications in terms of certification levels that ITIL has brought up which might be relevant to those who already in the know-how of ITIL. Transitioning from ITIL v3 is highly recommended. Stop second-guessing yourself about ITIL’s prevalence in ITSM and get on the moving train before it’s too late. Be the cream few who had it first!

Tehran Working to End Use of Children for Scavenging

Pirooz Hanachi said in a statement that the municipality of Tehran is ready to provide health services such as bathrooms and toilets, as well as mobile classes to such kids.

Tehran Working to End Use of Children for ScavengingThe reaction came a few days after a video went viral showing a person pushing a scavenging boy into a trash can for fun. The video shortly received strong public reaction and the culprit was arrested within a short time.

The Tehran mayor’s plan to end the phenomenon of child labour, relying on social support, will soon begin. There are still no accurate statistics on child labour in the country, but official statistics from the Ministry of Labour say that 500,000 kids are involved in child labour in the country. Experts estimate the number of child labourers across the country is about 3 million.

“The municipality of Tehran is ready to step up its supervision of dry waste contractors, and prevent children from being employed in this sector and take legal responsibility in this area,” Hanachi said.

“The final solution from the perspective of Tehran municipality is to modify the model of waste collection in the city for which planning has been carried out and by implementing various programs in the form of a comprehensive waste plan and a waste reduction plan. It will eliminate the phenomenon of scavenging in the near future,” reads the plan.

At the same time, Hanachi has urged all Tehran citizens to call 137 if they see the scavenging phenomenon and kids hired for such a job.

He emphasised that “no action should be taken against the children in the implementation of this project and only their employers must be held accountable.”

Research shows that 88 percent of these children are Afghans and only 22 percent are Iranians. Therefore, the municipality requires the assistance of the government and other institutions such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Eminent Singer Cancels Turkey Concert in Solidarity with Kurds

shahramnazeri-concert

Nazeri, one of the luminaries of Persian music, has canceled his long-awaited December concert in Konya in solidarity with the Kurdish people of Syria and to “show respect for the selfless people of Iran”, ISNA reported.

The popular Iranian musician, himself of Kurdish descent, used to give free concerts in Konya every year in December in celebration of legendary Persian poet and mystic Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Rumi, whose tomb is in Konya.

In a statement, Nazeri has explained the reason for his decision to cancel this year’s concert.

“This year, I will not do the concert in (the Iranian month of) Azar in Konya in solidarity with the sufferings of the Kurdish women, men and children of Syria and to show respect for the selfless and lovely people of my country, because Rumi is the voice of human conscience and the herald of peace and friendship in the world. He has always composed the lesson of goodness, humanity and love in seventy thousand couplets,” Nazeri said.

Foreign Tour Operators Amazed by Safe, Modern Iran

A group of 17 people from the travel agencies of Spain, Portugal, Italy, Turkey, Peru and China visited Iran on a week-long Famtrip (familiarization trip) organized by an Iranian tour operator.

What the foreign travel agents have realized at the end of the trip was that Iran is by far more modern, cleaner, and calmer than what the media tries to portray, ISNA reported.

The Famtrip was organized amid a reduction in the number of tours of Iran, mainly caused by the US threats and its attempt to misrepresent Iran as a nation on the brink of war.

Moreover, the recent unrest in Iran in the wake of a rise in the fuel price has apparently discouraged many foreign travel agencies to operate tours of Iran.

In the meantime, Julian, the representative a Spanish travel agency visiting Iran in the Famtrip, says the unrest and protests are not unusual in the world, noting that Spain, France and even Lebanon have experienced protests. “We all continue life and the tourists are still coming.”

One of the other people attending the Famtrip was the manager of a Portuguese travel agency, named Joao. “I was in Iran, and my clients were surprised that I have travelled to such a country, and constantly asked about the safety in there. I sent videos of the streets and people to show that everything is safe (in Iran), but they hardly believed it,” he added.

The organizer of the Famtrip said 30 people had been initially invited to take part in the event, but some of them preferred to exercise caution and postponed their trip, so that 17 people took part in the Famtrip ultimately.

“Iran was beyond the group’s expectations, from the hotels to the restaurants. They did not think at all that Iran may have a modern city or a single modern hotel. Everything was incredible for them. Even about the news of unrest that they had heard, they asked where this has happened that everything is calm. This was even strange to their clients how the manager of travel agency could go to Iran under such circumstance and operate a tour of that country,” the Famtrip organizer added.

Snapback Mechanism Shelved by E3 for Now: Iran

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a parliamentary commission meeting on Monday, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Seyyed Abbas Araqchi said the snapback mechanism was by no means mooted in the most recent meeting of the JCPOA Joint Commission in Vienna.

The speculations about implementation of the snapback mechanism, which have been raised as a propaganda campaign against Iran, have been laid aside for now, he added.

At the present time, Iran is only a month away from taking the fifth step in a phased reduction of its commitments to the JCPOA, Araqchi noted, saying there are various ideas about carrying out the next step.

Iran will decide what step to take in the final days before the deadline, Araqchi said about a further reduction in Tehran’s JCPAO commitments.

The remaining parties to the nuclear deal have been reminded in the recent meeting that if Iran does not enjoy the benefits of the JCPOA, it will definitely take the new step to scale back its commitment to the accord, Araqchi stressed.

He finally hailed Iran’s move towards self-sufficiency and the exploitation of its domestic potential for growth in all fields, saying the country has been standing against the US policy of sanctions and maximum pressure.

Iranian Girl Wins Reputation by Walking a Thin Line

Iranian Girl Wins Reputation by Walking a Thin Line (1)

“I got acquainted with this field at the 2014 Climbing Festival in Kermanshah,” Reyhaneh Armaghani told Hamshahri newspaper in a recent interview.

“I used to be a member of the National Rock Climbing Team, but I quit it and started to do it just for fun sometimes. At that festival, highline competitions were also held. I was climbing when I saw someone walking on a belt in the heights. I went to him and asked questions. At that time, Iranian guys were practicing on slack line. I asked how I could start; they told me that the tool should be bought at industrial tools market. I bought an industrial belt that is used on truck loads and started working,” she added.

“I also tried unicycle on a trip out of Iran. In one, or two days I managed to do it. Back in Iran, I made a unicycle with a friend of mine. Sometime later I found one on Instagram who had two unicycles with different models. I met her and she lent her unicycle to me. My friend and I talked to a German company later, and we bought a new model at a good discount.”

“I don’t want to exaggerate, but I’ve learned a lot in this field. Usually, those who do thrilling works, may have high levels of excitement and heart rate and cannot breathe. If you can control all of this, you can enjoy what you want to do, and it will affect your life unconsciously. I have learned to control, my emotions in my life, and not make an abrupt decision.”

Regarding her family’s concerns about her career, Reyhaneh said they do not have much trouble with this issue, but her mom is very scared and doesn’t even watch her movies.

“My elder sister was a mountain climber, so I went to the mountains a lot and started rock climbing when I was 13. As I used to attend sports events a lot, they got used to the things I was doing. I’m not one to stay on a job. I am 25 years old and have been working since I was 16. Now I am in the business of producing climbing clamps and rope access or work in the height.”

“In this job, I do whatever that is difficult for the landlord in the building to access and needs scaffolding, insulation, sealing, etc. Some things are so heavy to do, like rolling a bolt. You don’t have a lot of balance on the rope, but at the same time you have to take a heavy drill with one hand and it becomes tougher when you have to do it with your left hand. It’s not masculine, but it’s tough.”

About clients’ agreement to let a woman do such a job, she said, “We work with a friend of mine. At first they do not think I am going to get on the rope. They think I’m an assistant, but when I get dressed and grab my tools, they ask: Do you want to go on the rope too?”

Reyhaneh goes on to say that most of the clients worry about her because they are afraid of heights, but they encourage her.

Iranian Girl Wins Reputation by Walking a Thin Line“At the start of the work, I bought a 15-metre belt and other tools. It was a onetime expense, but it was hard work. I worked alone in the snow and rain of Tehran and Hamadan. One gets motivated when sees the rest of the club members, but there was no one beside me; I didn’t even have a coach. I live in both Tehran and Hamadan. I had to travel from Hamadan to Arak for highlining. To make unicycle I cut the pieces with my friend. We made the chair ourselves too. All this did not cost so much. My record is 150 metres. When one sets 200 metres record, then must go for 500 and 700 metres, but we don’t have the tools,” continued Reyhaneh.

“Some say such activities are exciting when you are young. Maybe by the age of 40 you would have said that I wish I had done something else that would have made a better income. But I live in a way that at least I won’t regret it. I admit that at an older age, the excitement gets less. Maybe at age of 40, it would not make sense to me. However, what matters is what I want now. I live in a way that I’d say I enjoyed my life for 40 years.”

Iran to Give Crushing Response to Any Israeli Aggression

Iran Vows to Take Action against US Move to End Nuclear Sanctions Waiver

In a statement on Monday, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyyed Abbas Mousavi dismissed the recent claims and military threats that the Zionist regime’s officials have made against Iran.

“We consider the threats from the al-Quds occupying regime a sign of weakness and the regime’s inability, that are meant to cover up the crises and domestic problems of its leaders,” the Iranian diplomat added.

He also noted that the Zionist regime’s “foundation and nature” over 70 years of occupation have been based upon “threats and aggression.”

“By relying on its power that is founded upon its people’s culture of altruism and resistance, the Islamic Republic of Iran would not hesitate or show tolerance for a moment to safeguard the Iranian boundaries and national security, and will give a crushing and regrettable response to any act of aggression or stupid action,” the spokesperson underlined.

Uzbek Companies Invited to Meet Iranian Business Delegation in Tashkent

Here are the details of the delegation’s visit to Tashkent provided by Rouhollah Estiri, Director General of Department on Promotion of International Businesses at the Iranian Vice Presidency for Science and Technology:

The meeting of Iran-Uzbekistan Joint Commission of Economic Cooperation, due to be held on December 12 at International Hotel Tashkent is aimed at promoting relations between the two countries.

In the meeting, the state officials and the private sectors of the two countries will hold talks in a business atmosphere and try to remove the obstacles to the promotion of bilateral trade.

The two countries appear to have great potential for the enhancement of mutual cooperation, considering a 60-percent rise in the trade exchanges over the past recent years, the establishment of more than 100 factories in Uzbekistan with the assistance of Iranians, and the two countries’ cultural closeness.

On the other hand, the expansion of technological exchanges between the two countries would promote science in both nations and provide appropriate capacities for developing higher-quality products in various fields.

Accordingly, the Iranian Vice Presidency for Science and Technology plans to prepare the ground for the promotion of potential technologies in Uzbekistan and the expansion of technology cooperation between the two countries by dispatching 11 knowledge-based (high-tech) companies in various technological fields to the meeting of Joint Commission of Economic Cooperation.
