Iranian Specialists Do ‘Tooth in Eye’ Surgery at Farabi Hospital

Iranian Specialists Do ‘Tooth in Eye’ Surgery at Farabi Hospital

The advanced surgery was carried out by Dr Mehran Zarei Qanawati, a corneal specialist. He says the patient was a 43-year-old woman who developed bilateral corneal opacity and vision loss due to Stevens-Johnson Syndrome which is a rare medicine allergy.

For patients with severe dry eye, normal corneal transplantation is rapidly destroyed and will not work. Even many types of artificial cornea cannot be used in these patients, and the best surgery for these patients is to use OOKP technique, he added.

Regarding the OOKP technique, he said the artificial corneal transplantation using dental tissue is an advanced therapy for the treatment of blindness that is offered in about 10 ophthalmology centres around the world.

“Fortunately, we will see this surgery being performed at Farabi Hospital as the only provider of this service in Iran as of now,” he underlined.

According to this specialist, the surgery is done in two stages, the first of which involves removing the tooth with some part of the jawbone. Then a hole with a diameter of 3.5 to 4.5 mm is cut into this layer, and a special optical cylinder is placed into it.

This piece is implanted under the lower eyelid for three months to form a vascular tissue around it.

Also at this stage the patient’s cornea is covered with oral mucosal tissue. In the second step, the cornea and tooth structure around which the connective tissue is grown is removed from the eyelid. Then, by making a cut at the centre of the patient’s cornea, some part of the cylinder is inserted into the eye and the tooth and outer part of the cylinder is placed on the cornea to will act as a corneal prosthesis.

This associate professor of ophthalmology at Tehran University of Medical Sciences said the technique was invented in the early 1980s by Italian ophthalmologist Benedetto Strampelli, but because of its complexity, it is just performed in a limited number of countries.

“One of the most experienced surgeons in OOKP is Professor Christopher Liu, who has worked hard to develop this technique in the world and I was trained by him in the UK.”

The cost of this surgery in the UK is around £ 70,000 but the surgical team did not receive a fee from the Iranian patient.

The Iranian knowledge-based companies are planned to have a pavilion, under the auspices of Iran’s Innovation and Prosperity Fund, in the 17th edition of the Oman Petroleum & Energy Show, which will be held at Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre in Muscat on March 9-11.

More than 500 exhibitors from 30 countries are expected to take part in the event, which will involve at least 10 pavilions from various countries.

The Iranian knowledge-based companies willing to participate in the Islamic Republic’s pavilion at the OPES can submit their application through the website (https://ghazal.inif.ir) until January 20. The applicants can also get more information about the pavilion on (cbd.nsfund.ir/exhibition) or contact the telephone number 02166421605, direct dial-in 105, for advice and registration.

Taking part in the pavilion could provide an ideal opportunity for the Iranian knowledge-based companies engaged in the oil, gas, and energy industries and allow them to have a share in the large energy market of Oman and the Persian Gulf region. Moreover, the participants will have the chance to interact with major multinational corporations in the event.

Iran’s Innovation and Prosperity Fund lends its support to the knowledge-based companies at the international exhibitions in order to help them enhance their marketing activities and have access to the world markets.

5) Caspiran

All these are products of the same manufacturer. Neatly arranged in rows and wrapped in polyethylene, they can be found in the market at sellers of dried fruits.

Resilient Economy

In recent years, the Iranian economy has existed in a sanctions regime, which has been tightened several times. The purpose of these sanctions is to deprive Iran of the opportunity to develop its nuclear program. This is the reason why the term “resilient economy” appeared.

It means achieving minimal dependence of the national economy on foreign countries in the field of ensuring their basic needs under conditions when the import and export of goods produced by this economy are limited.

While the problem of lifting the sanctions has not been resolved, and low oil prices cannot compensate the losses from the sanctions regime, the leadership continues to support the economic initiatives of the government of H. Rouhani, who is in favor of normalizing relations with the West, for interacting with the world economy. Therefore, it is obvious that after eliminating sanctions, Iran will have a unique chance for fast development, so those who will be in favor to cooperate — will get the biggest profit.

Top Reasons Why You Should Sell Used Car through Dealer

Top Reasons Why You Should Sell Used Car through Dealer

Nevertheless, there are certain privileges when selling through a dealer, that usually outweigh the slight price benefit that you could get when selling to an individual, such as lesser time and effort involved.

Goes without saying that when you pick a dealer to sell your car, you need to make sure it is a reputable one. If you are looking to sell your car in UAE, Carswitch is one of the most preferred options available to you. They have a very transparent process and will help you find the right buyer for the value of your car.

Here are a few reasons why selling through a dealer makes more sense:

  1. More reliable in the eyes of your customer

It is a common assumption that buying from a dealer is much more reliable than buying from an individual. This could be due to several reasons. One such reason is the professionalism and reliance. With an individual, the deal is done and dusted once the car is handed over. The seller may, not necessarily handle any fault with the car following this. However, in case of buying it from the dealer, the dealer is answerable to serious mishaps that might have already existed. The most important part is to have these terms noted in the contract between you and the dealer.

  1. Easier paperwork and processes

Apart from the value and money involved, the time and effort involved in buying a car can be overwhelming. Right from getting your car ready to listing it in various appropriate sites, finding buyers and doing the paperwork, there is more work than you can imagine that is being involved. You might not have the time and knowledge as well, required for this. Giving your car to a dealer can save you from a lot of these hassles. A good dealer is likely to look after every small detail and bring the best value to your car. Yes, their commission is an added cost, but most likely a worthy one. If you are looking to sell your car in Dubai, you have some reliable dealers like Carswitch available.

  1. Connect you to the right customer based on the value of your car

A car might depreciate quicker than you think. If you aren’t well versed with the market price, models and state of the used cars market, rest is assured that you might not get the best deal. Selling a car for a good price might be your best interest, however lack of knowledge or awareness of how to go about it may not fetch you the price your car deserves. When this is not your forte, you might as well leave it to the experts. A dealer not only understands the value you hold for your car, but may also find the right match by finding you a buyer that is willing to pay that price.

These are enough and good reasons to be selling your used car through a dealer. Nevertheless, keep in mind that not all dealers are reliable and may not get you the best deals. You do not want to load on the stress even more by giving it to a wrong car dealer. Do your research well and ask around a few trustworthy people, before you pick the right dealer.
