Iran’s Military Satellite Takes High-Resolution Images of US Base in Qatar

Iran's Military Satellite Takes High-Resolution Images of US Base in Qatar 5

Photos released by IRGC-affiliated news agencies show that the satellite has taken high-resolution mosaic images of Al-Udeid Air Base.

Earlier, the US military had said that ballistic missile fire detected from the IRGC‘s ongoing war games in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz has resulted in US troops being put on alert at Al-Udeid Air Base and Al-Dhafra Air Base in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.

“The incident lasted for a matter of minutes and an all clear was declared after the threat … had passed,” said Central Command spokeswoman Beth Riordan.

Brigadier General Amir-Ali Hajizadeh, the commander of the IRGC Aerospace Units, had earlier said that the military exercises were being monitored by Noor satellite.

The war games involved a mock US aircraft carrier, which was targeted by IRGC with a missile fired from a helicopter.

Drones separately targeted the bridge of the fake carrier.

Footage from the exercise dubbed The Great Prophet 14 showed speedboats encircling the replica, commandos rappelling onto the deck of the vessel, and scuba forces underwater.

Anti-aircraft batteries were seen firing from a location that the report described as being near the port city of Bandar Abbas.

Land-based trucks also launched missiles and troops used shoulder-fired missiles.

Iran Says Some 260,000 Patients Recover from COVID-19

In a press briefing on Wednesday, Sima-Sadat Lari said the novel coronavirus has killed 196 people in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of fatalities to 16,343.

She confirmed 2,636 new cases of infection with the novel coronavirus, raising the total number of cases to 298,909. Out of the new cases, 1,604 have been admitted to the hospital.

4,027 patients are also in critical conditions because of more severe infection, she added.

Lari noted that 2,405,862 COVID-19 tests have been taken across the country.

As in previous days, she said, Tehran, Mazandaran, Fars, East Azarbaijan, Khorasan Razavi, Alborz, Lorestan, Golestan, Kerman, Hormozgan, Ardabil, Isfahan, North Khorasan, Semnan and Ilam provinces are considered as “red zones”.

West Azarbaijan, Bushehr, Markazi, Hamadan, Gilan, Qom, Yazd, Khuzestan, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, Zanjan, and Kohgiliyeh and Buyer-Ahmad provinces are also in “orange” state, the spokeswoman stated.

US Presence in Region Causing Insecurity, Devastation: Iran Leader

US Presence in Region Causing Insecurity, Devastation: Iran Leader

In a message marking the annual Hajj pilgrimage, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said the US presence also leads to insecurity, devastation and underdevelopment of countries.

The Leader then touched upon anti-racism protests in the United States.
“With regards to the current developments in the US and the anti-racism movement there, our firm stance is to support people and condemn the atrocious behaviour of the racist government of that country,” he said.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Ayatollah Khamenei urged heads of certain Islamic states to rely on Muslim nations rather than resorting to the enemy.

“I take it upon myself to advise the heads of some Islamic states. I’m giving advice to statesmen who join ranks with the enemy and, for temporary personal gain, tolerate the enemy’s humiliation and bullying and compromise the dignity and independence of their own nations,” said the Leader.

“The ones that accept the survival of the usurper and oppressive Zionist regime [of Israel] and extend a hand of friendship to it both covertly and overtly; I advise them and tell them to beware of the bitter consequences of such behaviour,” he noted.

The Leader said the West’s cultural, political and economic models are inefficient as they are based on money-oriented democracy and discriminatory capitalism.

Ayatollah Khamenei said Hajj is a show of power against hegemonic elements that are the hotbed of corruption, oppression, and looting, urging Muslims to remain united against threats and enemies.

The projectiles were completely camouflaged before their launch.

During the drills, the IRGC’s aerospace division, using modern tactics and equipment, displayed part of its capabilities in countering threats posed by the mock enemy.

Earlier, missiles were fired at a US mock aircraft carrier moved by Iran to the Persian Gulf.

The military exercises spans Hormozgan province, the west of the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf all the way into the heart of the country. The war games feature land, sea, air and space drills.

In the final phase of the maneuvers, missile, vessel and drone units of the IRGC’s Naval Force as well as the missile, drone and radar units of the IRGC’s Aerospace Division carry out operations and drills.

Iran Says Won’t Stand Aside Simply Watching US Provocations

Iran Says Won't Stand Aside Simply Watching US Provocations

In comments made on Tuesday, Ali Rabiei touched upon the recent harassment of an Iranian airliner by US warplanes in the Syrian airspace, saying, “this dangerous move by the US was completely unprofessional and politically motivated.”

“Our priority is to make sure such incidents won’t happen again, incidents which are examples of triggering terror and panic among ordinary people,” he said.

“A detailed report and complaint about the incident has been presented to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), and at the same time we are examining all other legal options,” the spokesman said.

“This incident showed that the US does not abide by aviation rules. The responsibility for whatever incident that would jeopardize the health and lives of civilians along air routes in the future would rest with the US, and it should await the consequences of its actions as well,” he said.

“We seriously warn the US to put an end to its unusual and illegal behaviour before it is too late,” he said.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the spokesman said Washington’s “maximum pressure” policy on Tehran is a failed approach, adding that the White House has turned a blind eye to the realities in Iran.
