Iran ‘Voluntarily’ Allows IAEA to Access Two Locations

IAEA

That was announced in a joint statement issued by Rafael Grossi, the director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and Ali Akbar Salehi, the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) following intensive bilateral talks in Tehran.

What follows is the full text of the statement:

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the Islamic Republic of Iran (Iran) agreed to further reinforce their cooperation and enhance mutual trust to facilitate the full implementation of Iran’s Comprehensive Safeguards Agreement (CSA) and the Additional

Protocol (AP) thereto, which is provisionally applied by Iran since 16 January 2016.

After intensive bilateral consultations, Iran and the IAEA reached an agreement on the resolution of the safeguards implementation issues specified by the IAEA, in good faith. In this regard, Iran is voluntarily providing the IAEA with access to the two locations specified by the IAEA and facilitating the IAEA verification activities to resolve these issues.

Dates for the IAEA access and the verification activities have been agreed. The IAEA verification activities will proceed in accordance with the CSA and the AP, and the IAEA’s standard verification practice as implemented for all States with CSAs and APs on equal basis and without discrimination.

In the context of resolution GOV/2015/72 adopted by the Board of Governors on 15 December 2015, the IAEA and Iran recognize that these safeguards implementation issues are exclusively related to nuclear material and activities subject to safeguards under the CSA and the AP.

In this present context, based on analysis of available information to the IAEA, the IAEA does not have further questions to Iran and further requests for access to locations other than those declared by Iran under its CSA and AP.

Both sides recognize the independence, impartiality and professionalism of the IAEA continue to be essential in the fulfilment of its verification activities.

The IAEA will continue to take into consideration Iran’s security concerns, by protecting all safeguards confidential information in accordance with the IAEA’s Statute, the relevant provisions of the CSA and the AP, and the established IAEA confidentiality regime, standards and procedures.

Heavy flooding in northern and eastern Afghanistan has killed at least 100 people, as the deluge ravaged large parts of Charikar city, the capital of Parwan province, officials have said.

Wahida Shahkar, spokeswoman for Parwan province, said on Wednesday the number of casualties may rise as rescue teams work to locate people buried under destroyed houses.

Containing the incident and helping the affected families was beyond the capacity of the local government, and the central government should step in quickly, Shahkar said.

Many children were among the dead in Charikar, which was hit by heavy rains overnight, the Ministry of Disaster Management said in a statement.

Ali-Asghar Khaji, a senior assistant to the Iranian foreign minister, exchanged views with UN Special Envoy for Yemen Martin Griffiths on the establishment of a ceasefire in Yemen and the peace trend in the country.

In the Wednesday meeting, Khaji reiterated Iran’s backing for a political settlement of the Yemen crisis. He also highlighted Tehran’s constructive efforts to help put in place a nationwide ceasefire, fully lift the blockade on the country and advance the peace process.
The Iranian official also underscored the need for the UN to press ahead with its efforts to settle the Yemen crisis in a fair and realistic manner, restore the Yemeni nation’s rights, stop bloodshed and the killing of innocent people, and lift the sanctions slapped on the country, especially at a time of the coronavirus pandemic.

Iran to Continue Cooperation with IAEA: Rouhani

Iran to Continue Cooperation with IAEA

President Hassan Rouhani expressed hope the level of cooperation between Iran and the agency will increase day by day.

“In addition to its technical and specialized duties regarding the Safeguards Agreement and the Additional Protocol, which Iran is implementing voluntarily, the IAEA has an important responsibility, too, with regards to the JCPOA and the preservation of this multilateral agreement,” said Rouhani in a Wednesday meeting with visiting IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi.

Rouhani referred to the precise and expert reports prepared by the agency about the implementation of the JCPOA during the cooperation of the seven countries which were signatories to the deal.

“The JCPOA was a very important deal for Iran and the 5+1 group and brought about tranquility for the whole region and the world,” added the president.

Rouhani said the US withdrew from the agreement in 2018 for no good reason.
“More than two years on since the US pullout from the JCPOA, the American have well realized that what they did was not a right move,” said Rouhani.

“We hope the US will understand one day that days of unilateralism are gone,” he said.
He underlined UN Security Council members can very well feel the significance of the JCPOA.

President Rouhani said the US and one or two other countries are trying to wreck the JCPOA, saying, “We and the international community keep trying to preserve the JCPOA.”

He also said it is “very important” for the IAEA to remain independent, impartial and professional.

President Rouhani further touched upon the “good agreement” reached between the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) and the IAEA.

“The agency should pay attention to a very important point, and that is Iran has sworn enemies that are always seeking to create problems for us,” said the president.

“They are the ones that both possess nuclear weapons and refuse to work with the IAEA,” he said.

The IAEA chief, in turn, expressed content with the agreement it reached with the AEOI during his trip to Iran, and emphasized the need to boost cooperation between Iran and the Agency.

He said the JCPOA was an achievement in the true sense of the word and a major yardstick for all parties, adding, “We shoulder an important responsibility for preserving it.”
He expressed hope all issues as well as technical and professional questions will be settled through further cooperation between Iran and the agency.

Grossi said Iran-IAEA cooperation should not be affected by foreign voices.

‘US Bid to Restore UN Sanctions on Iran Has Dire Legal Consequences’

‘US Bid to Restore UN Sanctions on Iran Has Dire Legal Consequences’

In an interview with IRIB on Wednesday, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Saeed Khatibzadeh hailed the UN Security Council’s opposition to Washington’s ploys against Iran.

“The truth is that the United States once again suffered another historic defeat last night at the (UN) Security Council, after the August 14 failure when it had called for the extension of the arms embargo on the Islamic Republic of Iran and was facing opposition from the (UNSC) Member States,” he said.

“The US once again faced opposition from all UNSC Member States on August 20, when it handed out a notification to the members,” the spokesperson added.

“Maybe for the first time in the history of the Security Council, one of the Security Council’s permanent members faced a big ‘No’ (again) in less than ten days, and for the first time, the Security Council’s president announced officially that the United States basically lacks the competence to hand out such notification to the Member States,” Khatibzadeh stated.

“The fact that president of the Security Council reads such statement announcing that the US’ demand is null and void would have very serious legal consequences,” he emphasized.

The United States is very angry and upset at the last night’s incident, to the extent that the US ambassador to the United Nations has even attacked the European allies and has called them partners of Iran,” the Iranian diplomat said.

“What happened was the eighth or maybe the ninth failure for the United States over the past months. However, we hope that our JCPOA partners and the Security Council’s permanent and non-permanent Member States would continue to show that they won’t let the US to abuse the Security Council with intimidation, employ it as an instrument, and violate and break the international law,” the spokesman concluded.

Last week, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Washington had formally notified the UN that it wants all sanctions on Iran restored, claiming Iranian violation of the 2015 nuclear deal, from which Washington withdrew in 2018.

Last night, the Indonesian president of the UN Security Council rejected the Trump administration’s demand to restore all UN sanctions against Iran, saying the council was “not in the position to take further action” on Washington’s bid to trigger the snapback mechanism in the JCPOA.

Finding Perfect Halal Restaurants in Toronto

Finding Perfect Halal Restaurants in Toronto

It is too much for most people. So they try to stick with the first decent-enough restaurant they find. We tried to make the task easier for people who eat Halal food and live in Toronto by breaking down each element they should look into that affect their experience of dining in a Halal restaurant.

Hygiene is the first priority

If there is even a slim chance of getting sick by eating in a restaurant, no matter how good the food is, you should not go there. Paying close attention to a few details in a restaurant should tell you what you need to know about the hygiene of the place. First of all, you should be able to check the kitchen out if you want. If a place does not let you see their kitchen, it is a good reason to doubt the hygiene of the place. There are some things outside of the kitchen that you should be paying attention to when you go to a restaurant, too. The cleanliness of the tables, the cutlery, and the look of the staff are good indicators of how cleanly a place operates.

You should be served fresh, high-quality ingredients

The ingredients are, obviously, the most important factor that contribute to the quality of the food. Using fresh ingredients is a must in a good restaurant’s kitchen. The meat and the vegetables should be brought in daily and other ingredients should be used way ahead of the expiration date. In terms of Halal food, you should make sure that the ingredients, most importantly the meat, are actually Halal.

Good chef makes good food

If you hand your fresh, high-quality ingredients to an experienced, skilled chef, who has high standards and knowns how to manage their staff, you will end up with great food. So if you saw a chaotic atmosphere when checking out the kitchen, chances are you are not going to be served great food. In a Halal restaurant, a chef should also know the best substitutes for the alcoholic and non-Halal ingredients of different dishes.

You should dine in a relaxing atmosphere

The behavior of the staff can heavily influence your experience in a restaurant. A charming, friendly waiter who gives you enough time to decide and explains everything patiently is the difference between a great night out and a disappointing one.

Another contributing factor in the atmosphere of a place is the décor and the ambiance. The lightening of the restaurant should be on point, the decoration should not be overwhelming and the place should be big enough for the number of customers they have. You do not want to dine in a crowded place where you can barely hear yourself and your orders arrive late.

Go somewhere that you get your money’s worth

Having a fair price shows the attitude of the place, too. The fair price is not always the lowest one for a good restaurant, but you have to make sure the place does not overcharge you for the sake of getting to be known as a fancy and high-end place. The portion of the food as well as its quality and the service you get should be in accordance with the price.

Accessibility is important, too

So many times you go to a place that is not near any public transport means and you know you will not find a parking spot near it because “the food is great”. But the mental toll it takes to handle these situations really affects your mood. A great restaurant should be accessible conveniently via different means of transportation.

The overall service

The convenience of your dining in a restaurant is hugely affected by the overall service. That means how early you food arrives, how many payment options you get, how quickly your order is taken, how often you get a refill on your drinks, and how often you are checked on to see if you need anything. These, all together, have a significant influence on your experience.

Check out the online reviews

Many of these factors are reviewed by people on reliable platforms like Google, Zomato, halalzilla and Yelp that you should check out. Even just checking the ratings and not reading the reviews could give you a decent idea of what to expect of a place.

Haida Sandwich might just be the place for you

We looked into some Halal restaurant in Toronto and based on all these factors, we think Haida Sandwich is up there with the best and you should give it a try. But certainly you can check for yourself and find other good places, too.
