Source denies report Iran seeks to meddle in Iraq’s election of president

The source told Fars News Agency that the report is a lie and is merely aimed at influencing the failed process of electing Iraq’s president by the country’s parliament.

The source added that Iran has time and again said it does not meddle in Iraq’s political procedures and supports the will of the Iraqi people to choose their government and political structure.

The Iraqi parliament failed on Saturday to elect a president for the country for a second time.

Thas was due to the refusal of the Coordination Framework parliamentary faction’s lawmakers to attend the session which caused the meeting to lack quorum. Another meeting has been slated for Wednesday to elect the next president.

Iran says it is ready to go to the Austrian capital and sign an agreement anytime, provided that the US takes the necessary decisions, Tehran considers vital before a deal can be reached.

Kharrazi made the comments during a meeting with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati on the sidelines of Doha Forum 2022.

The Iranian official also expressed hope for the removal of anti-Iran sanctions, stressing that the country has a potential to take up a strong role in the regional economy.

Hezbollah says Haifa attack sent a strong message

The attack killed a number of Israelis.

Some sources say 2 Zionists died in the operation. Other sources put the number of deraths at 4.

In a statement aired by Lebanon’s Al Mayadeen news channel, Hezbollah said the Al Khuzayrah operation puts emphasis on the determination of the Palestinian people to fight back against the Zionist regime using all tools at their disposal.

Hezbollah said the operation is the most important response to the treacherous meetings between the Israeli leaders and some Arab officials whose countries have normalized ties with Israel.

The Lebanese resistance movement said the Palestinian people underlines on a daily basis that there will be no normalization and peace with the regime and that the struggle will continue until the liberation of Palestine.

Nasrallah describes parliamentary vote as Lebanon’s most important election

Nasrallah said the legislative vote is the most important election in Lebanon and described parliament as a moat and stronghold.

He said Hezbollah decided to participate in government in 2005 with the aim of pushing for improving the livelihoods of the Lebanese people.

He however noted that creating an Islamic government in Lebanon is out of the question because of the country’s diverse religious and ethnic fabric.

Nasrallah also spoke of the history of attempts to disarm Hezbollah. He said France first put forth the notion in 2005 and said Hezbollah should be allowed to participate in the government and then it will see its arms as a burden over time. Nasrallah noted that this was part of a plot to weaken the resistance and the unity in Lebanon.

Elsewhere in his comments, the Hezbollah leader said the movement wants a fair and strong government and that it seeks justice for all Lebanese and to minimize oppression.

Lebanon’s parliamentary elections are set for October 2022.

Former Iran FM: IRGC must be removed from US ‘terror list’

Kharrazi said the IRGC is a national army and no one can blacklist a national army as a terrorist entity.

The former Iranian foreign minister noted that the Islamic Republic will not back down on the issue in the Vienna talks that aim to revive the 2015 nuclear deal, known as the JCPOA.

Kharrazi also said Iran needs time to verify the removal of the US sanctions that were placed on Tehran in the wake of Washington’s unilateral withdrawal from the JCPOA under former president Donald Trump in 2018.

He said that the nuclear agreement is imminent but this depends on the political will of the US.
Kharrazi noted that there must also be some form of guarantee that the US will not again leave the JCPOA after its return to the deal.

The former top diplomat further said the US’s so-called maximum pressure campaign on Iran has failed.

At the meeting, Kharrazi also spoke of some other regional issues including Syria. He said Iran welcomed Syria’s return to the Arab world and its normalization of ties with other Arab governments.

Some Arab countries cut ties with Syria during the foreign-backed militancy against the government of President Bashar al-Assad. But those countries are now normalizing their relations with Damascus.
