Russia’s top negotiator: New IAEA resolution against Iran would be unconstructive

Mikhail Ulyanov

Mikhail Ulyanov said that such a resolution would be very unconstructive.

Ulyanov also said all members of the body must remember the dire consequences of the resolution that was recently issued against Iran.

He added that Moscow had already warned of the ramifications of the move.

The Wall Street Journal reporter’s tweet came after Reuters and AFP cited the IAEA as saying that the agency could not verify the peacefulness of Iran’s nuclear program.

IAEA Chief Rafael Grossi said in his new report that no progress was made in resolution of safeguards issues with Iran. The IAEA has made accusations similar to those leveled against Iran by the Zionist regime.
Iran dismisses the allegations as a lie.

Iran’s nuclear chief Mohammad Eslami says Tehran has responded to the IAEA’s accusations but the agency has chosen to stick to the Zionist regime’s narrative of what had happened with regard to Iran’s nuclear activities.

Iran Covid: 23 deaths in 24 hours

COVID in Iran

23 more Iranians have died from the coronavirus disease over the past 24 hours bringing the total deaths to 144,108, Iran’s Health Ministry said on Thursday.

864 new cases of infection with COVID-19 were found over the past 24 hours, 206 of whom were hospitalized, it added.

The Iranian Health Ministry noted that 7,312,821 patients out of a total of 7,537,081 infected people have recovered or been discharged from hospitals.

682 COVID-19 patients are in critical conditions and in intensive care units, it added.

The Iranian Health Ministry also said that 65,038,396 Iranians have received the first dose and 58,429,017 people have so far received the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Moreover, 31,007,963 people have also received the third or fourth shots as the booster jab.

Some 32 thousand doses of the coronavirus vaccine have been injected throughout the Islamic country.

Iran: Latest IAEA report ‘political, includes nothing but play with words’

IAEA

Behrouz Kamalvandi said on Thursday that the latest report by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) was a repetition of former groundless issues for political goals and incorporated “no new points but a play with words.”

In its report, the IAEA said Iran’s stock of uranium enriched to up to 60 percent purity had grown to well beyond the amount that is enough for a nuclear bomb, if enriched further.

Kamalvandi said certain international media outlets exploited the director-general’s deliberately detailed and vague phrases to distort the realities and offer, on some occasions, their own interpretations of the ambiguities to step up an empty propaganda campaign aimed at portraying the Iranian nuclear program as non-peaceful.

Iran, he said, should not be expected to allow inspections beyond the Safeguards Agreement while the other parties to the 2015 nuclear deal keep failing to fulfill their contractual obligations, and while the oppressive sanctions against the Iranian nation remain in place.

Such wide-scale inspections will be possible only if the other parties to the nuclear deal return to compliance, he added.

“Iran’s peaceful nuclear program has been the most transparent so far,” Kamalvandi said.

Iran Army stages overnight helibrone maneuvers

Iran Army

The maneuvers’ spokesman Second Brigadier General Amir Cheshak said on Wednesday, “In this part of the drills, infantry, armored, artillery, mobile drone, and electronic warfare units of the Ground Force were stationed in Esfahan’s Nasrabad general area for two-day drills and took on an operational posture.”

He added all armored equipment, personnel carriers, and engineering hardware had arrived in the general area of the drills in less than 48 hours. The transfers were made via heavy and super-heavy tow trucks manufactured by the Army Ground Force factories and other domestic industries, he said.

Before the launch of the drills, the military official said the exercises would assess the Ground Force’s ability to mobilize its servicemen from various countrywide locations to the area that is hosting the maneuvers.

“The military drills are meant to evaluate and enhance the level of combat readiness of the Ground Force’s units in facing new threats,” he said.

Iran’s interior minister in Iraq for talks ahead of Arba’een pilgrimage

Arba’een pilgrimage

Ahmad Vahidi arrived in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, on Thursday morning for talks on the situation of pilgrims and provision of services to them.

Arba’een marks the 40th day since the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein, the third Shia Imam.

Ahead of the annual pilgrimage, millions of mourners — including Iranian nationals — have started a journey on foot from the holy city of Najaf to Karbala, which hosts the shrine of Imam Hussein, to commemorate the revered Shia Muslim figure.

The Arba’een gathering, which falls on September 17 this year, is known as the largest peaceful human gathering in the world.

The ceremonies are expected to be larger than previous years due to the easing of COVID-19 restrictions.

Palestinian killed in Israel raid near Ramallah

Israeli Forces in WB

The killing was carried out near the main entrance to the Beitin village, northeast of Ramallah, in early Thursday, the International Middle East Media Center (IMEMC), a Palestinian-run media organization, reported.

It cited Israeli sources as claiming that the Palestinian had attacked the regime’s forces “with a hammer” before an Israeli trooper opened fire and killed him.

“The Israeli army said one soldier sustained mild facial wounds and received treatment at the scene,” it added.

On Wednesday, Israeli forces fatally shot a 20-year-old Palestinian youth at the al-Faraa refugee camp, near the city of Tubas in northern West Bank.

The Ramallah-headquartered Palestinian Authority’s health ministry said the victim, identified as Younis Ghassan Tayeh, was killed with a bullet to his chest.

According to Al Jazeera television network, Younis’s uncle, Mohammed Hassan Tayeh, said the shooting had been unprovoked, and that his nephew had been “in an open area, exposed to the soldiers” when he was shot by a sniper.

Israeli forces continue their near-daily raid-and-arrest operations in various parts of the occupied West Bank, wounding or killing Palestinians.

The regime has reportedly killed more than 110 Palestinians across the West Bank and the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the year.

Iran says Albania’s decision to cut ties lacks foresight, unmeasured

Cyberattack

The Iranian foreign ministry, in a statement, strongly condemned the Albanian government’s anti-Iran measure following the decision.

The ministry dismissed the baseless accusations leveled by the Albanian government against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

It pointed to the Islamic Republic of Iran’s ‘principled positions’ on cyberspace in international multilateral bodies in line with drafting rules and regulating this field.

The statement says the Islamic Republic of Iran, as a country whose vital infrastructure has been the target of cyberattacks, rejects and condemns any use of the cyberspace as a tool to launch attacks on other countries’ vital infrastructure.

The statement also dismissed the unproved claims against the Islamic Republic of Iran, stressing that the type of the move and the role played by third parties in fabricating the allegations against the Islamic Republic are indicative of exertion of influence in the issue by seditionist countries that sponsor terrorism.

It also highlighted the organized political and media activities that quickly followed the Albanian government’s announcement of its decision to cut ties with Iran, saying the US administration’s swift issuance of a statement and the Zionist media outlets’ welcoming of the decision are indicative of a pre-mediated plan to create political hype against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The Ministry also pointed to the Albanian government’s hosting of the anti-Iran terror group, the MKO, expressing regret that Tirana is being influenced by third parties.

Iran rejects US, UK accusations regarding cyberattacks in Albania

Iranian Foreign Minister Spokesman Nasser Kanaani

Nasser Kanaani pointed out that the US and the UK, that had previously remained silent in numerous cyberattacks against the Islamic Republic of Iran’s infrastructures and even against its nuclear facilities, lack any legitimacy to level such accusations against the Iran.

While strongly condemning the accusations, Kanaani added the US and the UK have in the past directly or indirectly supported those anti-Iran measures.

The spokesperson of the Iranian ministry of foreign affairs warned against any political adventurism against Iran with such ‘ridiculous excuses.’

He warned against any possible conspiracy against Tehran, adding it would be met with decisive and immediate response, so as to make the perpetrators feel regretful.

He added that the Islamic Republic of Iran, as a country that has been repeatedly attacked by cyberattacks, is an important part of responsible international efforts to deal with the threats of such attacks.

Iran’s Assembly of Experts: Nuclear talks outcome should serve nation’s interests

Iran’s Assembly of Experts

The assembly, Iran’s top leadership supervisory body, expressed gratitude to the Iranian Foreign Minister for deepening Iran’s cooperation with its neighbors, especially in the economic aspect.

According to a latest report by Iran’s customs administration, the Islamic Republic’s trade volume with its 15 neighboring countries during the past five months has had a significant 27-percent rise compared to the same period last year.

Iranian Foreign Minister also addressed the Assembly of Experts and briefed it on the latest political and international developments and Iran’s foreign policy achievements.

He said the Iranian ministry will never cross the country’s red lines in the process of negotiations aimed at reviving the 2015 nuclear deal with world powers, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

The assembly also called on President Ebrahim Raisi’s administration to try to reduce inflation, create job opportunities, and solve people’s livelihood problems amid harsh sanctions.

Iran VP rejects claims of her son’s immigration to end controversy

Iran’s Vice President for Women and Family Affairs Ensieh Khazali

Khazali took to Twitter on Wednesday to say that her son never planned immigration, “although he is married and independent,” criticizing those who “spoke with enthusiasm” and spread the rumor.

She said her son was on a “temporary, job-related” trip aimed at promoting and providing support to a knowledge-based unit in Iran, where a large number of students in computer science are active.

“Fortunately, the job project is near completion and he will return to the country in the coming months,” Khazali said.

“Undoubtedly, [efforts] to lay the foundation for knowledge-based activities underway in the country stem from patriotism and a sense of being responsible.”

The reports about the immigration of Khazali’s son, Hamid-Reza Reza-Zadeh, triggered a salvo of criticism in the Iranian community on social media and in domestic media outlets.

Earlier, Mahdi Arafati, secretary of the administration’s Public Relations Council, had reacted in a tweet to a report that the child of a deputy minister had acquired a student visa from a foreign country and was about the leave the homeland.

“The president issued an order as soon as he learned about that: If the child goes, the father should go as well!” he said.

“The era is over when high-ranking officials of the administration used to take pride in the residency of their children abroad. Authorities should beware of Guidance Patrol (morality police).”
