One fatality in quake on Iran’s Kish Island

A 5.6-magnitude earthquake has rocked the Iranian island of Kish. The earthquake has so far left one person dead and dozens more injured.

A local official has said 31 people were admitted to a hospital on the island. But most of them received outpatient treatment.

The official added that four of those injured fell from high places when the quake hit the island.

The person who died was a 21-year old man.

Iran is a quake-prone country. The last deadly tremor that struck the country happened in December 2003. It killed 45 thousand people.
