“Iranians Pay No Heed to Trump’s Opportunistic Comments”

Iran’s foreign ministry spokesman says the Iranian nation pays no heed to the US officials’ “interventionist” and hypocritical remarks about the recent gatherings in Iran.

In a statement on Saturday, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi condemned the “cheap, worthless, and invalid” comments recently made by US President Donald Trump and the US State Department, saying, “The Iranian people pay no heed to the opportunistic claims of American officials, particularly President Trump.”

“The great nation of Iran for sure has closely watched the active participation of Mr Trump in violating the human rights of Palestinian, Yemeni, and Bahraini people,” he noted.

“Moreover, they definitely remember the US president’s malignant hostility towards the educated people of Iran, the restrictions he imposed on the entry of Iranians to America, and the arrest of many Iranian nationals living in the US on fabricated pretexts.”

Therefore, he added, the Iranian nation views the opportunistic and deceptive support of these officials for gatherings in some Iranian cities in recent days as nothing but the US administration’s hypocrisy and deception.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran’s Constitution has provided democratic frameworks for legal support of people’s civil demands, and it is totally possible to pursue such demands within the framework of law,” he added.

“The Iranian people are the biggest assets behind the country’s security and development,” Qassemi noted, adding that the people’s turnout in the elections with the aim of deciding their fates and the active participation of the entire nation in monitoring and criticising the country’s state bodies guarantee the prosperity and progress of Iran and the Islamic Revolution.

“The Iranian nation’s insightful presence is the most important factor behind the country’s resistance to ill-wishers,” he said, adding that the Trump administration has proved to be the head of those ill-wishers.

Qassemi finally referred to 70 years of interference in Iran’s domestic affairs by various US administrations, including the US’ role in plotting and leading the 1953 coup against Iran’s national and legal government, Washington’s full support for the Pahlavi regime’s crackdown on Iranian freedom-seekers, and its all-out support for the criminal regime of Saddam Hussein during the eight-year war on Iran, and said, “The US officials are not in a position to show sympathy for the great and wise nation of Iran.”
