Iranian President to Visit Turkey: Ambassador

Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani will make an official visit to the neighboring Turkey within the coming months, the Iranian Ambassador to Ankara Alireza Bigdeli announced.

The visit will be aimed at attending the third High Council for Iran-Turkey Strategic Cooperation, Bigdeli told reporters on Saturday at the end of his diplomatic mission in Ankara.

“Friendly relations between Iran and Turkey gives us the assurance that the ties are on the right and positive track, and that the path will be continued in the long-term,” he said.

However, Bigdeli added, it is possible that problems and tensions emerge at any time, but one should ensure the required mechanism for resolving such issues is available.

Elsewhere, the Iranian envoy highlighted the role of media in influencing the ties between Tehran and Ankara, saying that their role in this regard is a decisive one regardless of the level of ties between the two countries.

Since Iran and Turkey enjoy an excellent level of ties, it can be concluded that the media have played their positive role in the best way possible, he added.

Rouhani’s visit will come after Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan made an official visit to Tehran at the invitation of his Iranian counterpart back in April 2015.
