Iran Can’t Unilaterally Breach JCPOA in Reaction to US Violation: Official

Political Deputy of Iranian President’s Office Hamid Aboutalebi says the US violation of nuclear deal with Iran cannot be unilaterally reciprocated as JCPOA is a multi-lateral commitment.

In reaction to the US Senate’s approval of a legislation which extends the Iran Sanctions Act (ISA) for another ten years, Aboutalebi wrote on his twitter on Friday that any violation of the landmark nuclear deal would be ‘regarded as an act against all engaged’ parties.

He emphasized the fact that the most legitimate and severe move against violation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) ‘is a coordinated and severe response by all those engaged based on their consensus and aiming at isolating the violators.’

“If JCPOA is a multilateral agreement, its violation by one of the signatories cannot be reciprocated by unilateral violation,” he noted.
