Shushtar: A jewel of ancient Iranian hydraulic engineering 

The Historical Hydraulic System of Shushtar, one of Iran's most remarkable engineering marvels, attracts numerous visitors during the Nowruz holidays.

Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the unique complex showcases 13 interconnected structures, including bridges, dams, watermills, cascades, and hand-carved tunnels that demonstrate Persia’s advanced water management techniques dating back to ancient times.

Often dubbed the “Masterpiece of Creative Genius” by UNESCO, the system highlights the ingenuity of the Achaemenid and Sassanian eras.
