Israel says 10 soldiers killed in Lebanon over 2 days

Israel Army

Five soldiers were killed in southern Lebanon on Thursday and another five were killed Friday, the IDF has announced.

Tel Aviv has mounted a massive air campaign in Lebanon since last month against what it says are Hezbollah targets in an escalation from a year of cross-border warfare between the regime and the group since the start of Israel’s aggression against the Gaza Strip.

Israel expanded the conflict on Oct. 1 this year by launching a ground assault into southern Lebanon.

In Lebanon, more than 2,500 people have been killed and over 12,000 wounded, according to the Lebanese ministry of health. The health ministry and doctors say hundreds of the casualties have been civilians, including women, children, the elderly, as well as scores of medics.

Some 1.2 million Lebanese have been displaced during the war.

A total of 163 health workers have been killed and 272 injured as a result of Israeli attacks since tensions flared up in West Asia in early October 2023, Lebanon’s acting Health Minister Firas Abyad announced at a press conference in Beirut.

Iranian military source dismisses Israeli claims of attacking 20 sites in Iran

Iran Air Defense System

According to the source, the actual number of targets is significantly lower, noting that no military centers related to the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) in Tehran were targeted.

Tasnim also quoted the source as saying the claim that 100 Israeli military aircraft participated in the attack is entirely false, adding, “Israel attempts to exaggerate the impact of its weak assault.”

The source also stated that Israel’s provocative move was conducted from outside Iran’s borders and caused limited damage.

Iran confirmed that Israel launched airstrikes on Iranian military sites in Tehran, Khuzestan, and Ilam provinces in the early hours of Saturday, but said the raids had limited impact.

Iran’s air defense force announced it successfully intercepted and countered Israel’s act of aggression.

Normal life reportedly goes on in the capital Tehran and other cities following the strikes, but Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization has canceled all flights until further notice.

Iran and Israel have been engaged in a cycle of attacks and counterattacks amid the year-long Israeli campaign in Gaza and its spillover in the region.

Iran had earlier warned any Israeli strike on Iran would face harsher response than its previous operations in April and October.

Russia to deploy North Korean forces in Ukraine in days: Zelensky

North Korean Soldiers

“According to intelligence, the first North Korean soldiers are expected to be deployed by Russia to combat zones as early as October 27–28,” Zelensky wrote Friday on social platform X.

“North Korea’s actual involvement in combat should not be met with indifference or uncertain commentary, but with tangible pressure on both Moscow and Pyongyang, to uphold the UN Charter and to hold them accountable for this escalation,” he added.

Zelensky last week warned that North Korea was sending 10,000 troops to fight alongside Russian forces, and the United States on Wednesday confirmed that about 3,000 North Korean soldiers were training at military bases in Russia, spiking fears they would be used in Russia’s battle against Kyiv.

And Ukrainian spies spotted North Korean troops entering the combat zone Thursday, raising concerns about the war’s escalation.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has not confirmed or denied his intentions to use North Korean soldiers in battle but insisted it was his country’s choice to make.

“When we have to decide something, we will decide … but it is our sovereign decision whether we will apply it, whether we will not, whether we need it,” Putin told Russian state television, adding, “This is our business.”

Putin has warned against interference from the West even as Zelensky has urged Ukraine’s allies to send additional weapons and munitions.

“The sooner they realise the futility of such an approach in relations with Russia, the better it will be for everyone, and perhaps, above all, for themselves.”

North Korea has long supplied Russia with artillery shells and short-range ballistic missiles in return for access to critical technology and financial aid.

But North Korea and Russia entered a strategic partnership in June after Putin traveled to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, forming an alliance to “provide military and other assistance by all means at its disposal” during a state of war for either country.

“Russia’s aggression has revealed deep cracks in the foundation of international security. It has exposed the UN’s inability to effectively respond to flagrant violations of its own Charter,” Ukrainian Cabinet member Andriy Yermak said in a statement.

“A permanent member of the Security Council has become an aggressor. This undermines the basic principles of the Organization,” he added.

Israeli military confirms Iran raids finished

Israel Attack Iran

“I can now confirm that we have concluded the Israeli response to Iran’s attacks against Israel,” Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari said in a video message shared by the Israel Defense Forces.

“We conducted targeted and precise strikes on military targets in Iran – thwarting immediate threats to the State of Israel. The Israel Defense Forces has fulfilled its mission,” he added.

Hagari warned that if Iran were to begin “a new round of escalation”, Israel will be “obligated to respond”.

“Our message is clear: All those who threaten the state of Israel and seek to drag the region into a wider escalation will pay a heavy price,” he stated.

“We demonstrated today that we have both the capability and the resolve to act decisively, and we are prepared on offense and defense, to defend the state of Israel and the people of Israel.”

Iran’s air defense force has confirmed Israeli attacks targeting positions in Tehran, Khuzestan and Ilam provinces, saying the offensives have caused limited damage.

“Despite the previous warnings of the officials of the Islamic Republic to the criminal and illegal Zionist regime to avoid any adventurous action, this fake regime attacked parts of military centers in the provinces of Tehran, Khuzestan and Ilam this morning in a tension-causing action,” the air defense force announced in a statement on Saturday morning.

It further said that the country’s integrated air defense system successfully intercepted and countered the act of aggression.

The attacks caused limited damage in some locations and the dimensions of the incident are under investigation, the statement added.

Iran Air Defense Base: Israeli provocation caused ‘limited damage’

Israel Attack Iran

The Air Defense Base announced that despite previous warnings from Iranian officials to the Israeli regime to avoid any adventurous actions, the regime launched a provocative attack on military centers in Tehran, Khuzestan, and Ilam provinces early on Saturday.

The statement asserted, “The integrated air defense system of the country successfully intercepted and countered the aggressive action, resulting in limited damage to some areas, which is currently under investigation.”

The Air Defense Base called on the public to maintain solidarity and calm, urging them to follow news related to the incident through national media and ignore rumors from enemy media.

Around 02:15 am on Saturday local time, several explosion-like sounds were heard, especially in western Tehran.

At around 05:00 am on Saturday local time, the sound of Iranian air defense systems was heard in eastern and central Tehran.

The Tehran Air Defense Public Relations announced that the sounds heard around Tehran were related to the reaction of Tehran’s air defense systems in three points outside the city.

According to field reports and released footage, normal life goes on in the Iranian capital Tehran and other cities following Israeli strikes on the military targets.

Iran previously warned that any Israeli attack would be met with a firm response.

Report: Informed source says Iran ready to respond to Israeli aggression

The source added that, as stated previously, Iran is fully ready to respond to this aggressive act.

Tasnim quoted the informed source as saying that Iran reserves the right to respond to any aggression, adding that Israel will undoubtedly receive a proportional reaction.

Iran’s Air Defense announced that the Israeli regime conducted attacks on military centers in the Iranian provinces of Tehran, Ilam, and Khuzestan. It added that the raids were successfully intercepted and that minor damage occurred.

Multiple explosions heard in Tehran

The reports say the attacks targeted a number of military sites on the outskirts of Tehran.

Iranian Fars News agency reported investigations and initial follow-ups show that several military bases in the west and southwest of Tehran were the targets of the Israel’s attack.

Additionally, some of the sounds were attributed to air defense fire, and surveys indicate that most images circulating online are outdated and unreliable.

Tasnim News Agency reports that, so far, no missile strikes or attacks have occurred on IRGC military centers in western and southwestern Tehran.

IRNA reports that, as of 3:22 a.m. on Saturday, Tehran’s emergency services have received no reports of incidents requiring assistance within the capital or its surrounding areas.

An informed source told Iran newspaper that the air defense response was successful.

Iran previously warned that any Israeli attack would be met with a “firm response beyond imagination.”

Iran govt. spokeswoman says Israel killing of journalists in Lebanon state terrorism

In a post on X, Fatemeh Mohajerani said the airstrike was a targeted attack meant to hide the crimes being committed in Gaza and Lebanon from world people.

She added that Israel’s attack on media outlets in Lebanon is a sign of a bigger disaster.

Mohajerani also said criminals always try to keep the world unaware of their crimes.

She noted that the Geneva Conventions and the law on protecting the lives of journalists in wartime were established in order to keep the free flow of information to prevent crimes in silence.

On Friday morning, Zionists killed three members of the al-Mayadeen and al-Manar news teams by deliberately targeting the residence of journalists in the town of Hasbaya in southeastern Lebanon.

Iran condemns Israel’s deadly targeting of journalists in Lebanon as war crime

In a post on X, Ismail Baqaei strongly condemned the Israeli regime’s airstrike in the town of Hasbaya early Friday, which resulted in the martyrdom of three journalists.

The television network Al Manar confirmed the death of one of its photographers, Wisam Qasim. Meanwhile, Al Mayadeen announced the deaths of photographer Ghassan Nayar and technician Muhamad Reda.

Baqaei added that the Israeli regime has killed 180 journalists and media personnel over the past year.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman also emphasized that international agreements, particularly the 1949 Geneva Conventions, grant immunity to journalists in conflict zones.

The Lebanese government has also condemned the deadly Israeli strike as a war crime.
