At least 6 killed, dozens injured in ramming attack near Tel Aviv

Palestine Attack Israel

According to a statement by Magen David Adom (MDA) emergency response service, the operation was carried out on Sunday morning.

“At 10:08 a.m. (0808 GMT), a report was received… of a truck hitting a bus stop on Aharon Yariv Boulevard in Ramat Hasharon… Paramedics are currently providing medical treatment on-site to dozens of casualties,” the statement said.

Magen David Adom added that it had taken at least 35 settlers to hospitals following the incident.

They included six in serious condition, five in moderate condition, 20 who were lightly hurt, and another four suffering acute anxiety, MDA noted.

Police say that numerous officers are heading to the scene, and further details, including the motive, are under investigation.

According to the police’s initial probe, a bus had stopped at the station outside the Glilot Base to drop off passengers. At the same time, a truck rammed into the stop and the people there.

Police add that the truck driver who rammed into people at the bus stop was shot and “neutralized” by armed civilians in the area.

Israeli media identified the suspected perpetrator as Rami Nasrallah Natour, an Israeli citizen from the city of Kalansua in central Israel.

Israel has faced sporadic attacks since launching its war on the Gaza Strip in October 2023, following the 7 October Hamas attack in southern Israel that left approximately 1,200 dead.

Ex-Iranian FM raps U.S.-Israel alliance, predicts middle east military dynamics

Ali Akbar Salehi

He suggested that America seeks to entrench its presence in the region through Israel, with some even regarding Israel as “America’s 51st state.”

Salehi noted that a ceasefire between Israel and Gaza hinges on Hamas’s resilience. “If Hamas endures these extreme conditions, Israel may reach its limit sooner,” he asserted, adding that the people of Gaza have little left to lose.

Looking ahead to potential military conflicts, Salehi predicted that, based on U.S. experiences in Iraq and Afghanistan, any regional war would likely play out more in maritime theaters than in air or land combat.

He explained that the U.S. avoids a wider conflict, as the consequences are unclear, Middle East stability would be unpredictable, and rivals China and Russia could exploit the situation.

Salehi emphasized that Iran’s deterrent capabilities remain potent, which could dissuade Israel from undertaking severe actions. Despite significant challenges, Hezbollah and Hamas still demonstrate resilience, with Salehi honoring martyrs like Yahya Sinwar, whom he described as a global symbol of resistance.

Iran, he concluded, must prepare for the worst-case scenario.

Zelensky says Ukraine to fight against North Korea in Europe

Volodymyr Zelensky

“(Russia is) increasingly engaging North Korea as an ally, and any day now their soldiers may appear on the battlefield fighting against Ukraine,” Zelensky said.

“Ukraine will be forced to actually fight against North Korea in Europe,” he added.

Zelensky’s comments come amid reports that the Biden administration believes that a contingent of North Korean troops is en route to Russia’s Kursk region to assist Moscow in countering a Ukrainian offensive launched there in August.

Zelensky said on Oct. 25, citing intelligence reports, that Russia is planning to send the first North Korean soldiers to a combat zone on Oct. 27-28.

These soldiers are reportedly receiving training at five military training grounds in Ekaterinoslavka, Knyaze-Volkonskoe, and Sergeevka, as well as in Ussuriysk and Ulan-Ude in eastern Russia.

Although U.S. officials have not confirmed South Korean reports that North Korean soldiers will engage in direct combat, they estimate the North Korean force could number in the thousands and may rapidly be assigned to combat roles, the Wall Street Journal reports.

Estimates on the number of North Korean troops sent to the Ukraine-Russia front line have varied. U.S. officials estimated around 3,000 North Korean troops were training in Russia, but National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby indicated that the overall count could now be higher.

South Korean intelligence has informed lawmakers that North Korean troop numbers in Russia could reach 10,000 by December, while Kyiv has announced that Pyongyang has sent nearly 12,000 troops to Russia, including 500 officers and three generals.

Speaking during his evening address, Zelensky called on Western allies to commit to “stronger decisions in support of Ukraine”, as the threat of the war’s escalation continues to rise.

“The world is capable of stopping the war from unfolding. Abstractions and words are not enough for this – concrete steps are needed.”

On Oct. 24, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol stated that the country could review its ban on supplying lethal arms to Ukraine in light of “North Korean military activities”.

South Korean law prohibits the exporting of weapons to active conflict zones, but Seoul has repeatedly hinted that this could change in light of deepening military cooperation between Russia and North Korea.

Netanyahu claims Israel “severely damaged” Iranian defenses despite Tehran’s denial

Netanyahu

In his first comments on the raids, Netanyahu said that Israel had promised to respond firmly to the Iranian ballistic missile strike earlier this month.

“In the early hours of Saturday morning, we kept our promise and severely damaged Iran’s defense capacity and its ability to produce missiles that work against us,” Netanyahu stated.

“Yesterday we hit the head of the octopus. To the people of Iran I say – our struggle against a tyrannical regime that threatens the entire region. Whoever hurts us, we hurt them.”

Netanyahu thanked the US for “close coordination and assistance” in the IDF strikes on Iran, and said the attack “achieved all its objectives”.

Joe Biden administration officials have announced that Washington was not directly involved with the strike but had been consulting closely with Tel Aviv.

On Saturday, the Iranian Air Defense Forces said in a statement that the country’s integrated air defense system successfully intercepted and countered the Israeli strikes targeting military locations in Tehran, Khuzestan, and Ilam provinces.

The attacks caused limited damage in some locations and the dimensions of the incident are under investigation, the statement added.

The Iranian Army also announced that four of its servicemen had been martyred in the raids.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry has also condemned the Israeli assault as a blatant violation of international law and the UN Charter, reiterating the country’s right to defend itself against foreign acts of aggression.

UN Security Council to convene Monday following Israel’s strikes on Iran

UNSC

Iran requested the Security Council meeting, stressing that Israel violated international law with its direct strikes against it early Saturday.

In a letter to the Security Council, Iran’s permanent mission to the UN said Israel’s actions “constitute a serious violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity” of Iran and are “a flagrant breach of international law and the United Nations Charter”.

Israel’s ambassador to the UN Danny Danon said Tehran’s request was “another attempt by Iran to harm us, this time in the political arena,” vowing to “stand up for Israel’s right to defend itself.”

Danon called claims that Israel has violated international law “ridiculous”.

“Iran will not be allowed to continue hiding behind its affiliates, as long as Iran continues to threaten and try to harm us, it will pay the price,” Danon added.

Pentagon Chief: Iran should not make mistake of responding to Israel’s attacks

Lloyd Austin

Austin has spoken to Gallant about Saturday’s raids, and issued a warning to Tehran that it “should not make the mistake of responding to Israel’s strikes, which should mark the end of this exchange”.

The secretary also discussed the opportunities that now exist to use diplomacy to dial down tensions in the region, including a hostage release and ceasefire deal in the Gaza Strip and an agreement in Lebanon that allows civilians on both sides of the Blue Line to return safely to their homes.

Iran Leader calls for creation of int’l coalition against Israel

Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei

Addressing the families of martyred Iranian security forces in Tehran on Sunday, Ayatollah Khamenei said, “A significant negligence is occurring in the world regarding the wicked Zionist regime. Governments and nations – especially governments – and international bodies like the United Nations are truly neglecting the issue of confronting the Zionist regime.”

“What the regime has done and continues to do in Gaza and Lebanon are among the most brutal war crimes,” the Leader said, noting that Israel has violated all international laws on war.

He called on the international community to stand up against the ongoing Israeli atrocities, saying, “Any slight assistance to this regime is among the ugliest and greatest sins.”

Ayatollah Khamenei suggested, “A global coalition should be created; a political coalition, economic coalition, or if necessary, military coalition against the evil Zionist regime, which is committing the most brutal war crimes today.”

The Leader also touched on the Israeli aggression against Iran on Saturday, saying Israel must be made to understand the power, resolve and initiatives of the Iranian nation.

He added it is up to the country’s officials to decide how this is done in line with the country’s best interests.

The Leader said the enemies committed a miscalculation when it came to Iran. He, however, said the Israeli operation must be neither magnified nor downplayed.

Leader: Iranian officials to determine how best to respond to Israel

Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei

In a meeting with the families of “Martyrs of Security”, in Tehran on Sunday, Ayatollah Khamenei said, “Israel made a miscalculation, and it must understand the will of the Iranian people.

The Leader, however, said Israel’s operation on Iranian military sites, “should neither be downplayed nor exaggerated.”

Ayatollah Khamenei added Israel “should understand the strength, will and initiative of the Iranian nation.”

“How to convey this power and resolve of the Iranian nation to the Zionist regime is for our officials to determine, and what is in the best interest of the nation and the country should be done,” he noted.

Iranian officials said Israel’s air attacks against Iranian military targets caused limited damage but left four army officers killed.

Calls are growing from various factions inside Iran that Israel’s aggression should be harshly responded.

FM Araghchi: US provided air corridor to Israel in aggression on Iran

In an interview with Iran’s state-run IRIB television on Sunday, Araghchi slammed Washington’s complicity in the Israeli raid that targeted Iranian military sites in three provinces of Tehran, Khuzestan and Ilam and left four Iranian Army officers killed.

The foreign minister pointed out that international condemnations are pouring in, saying “Since yesterday, we have received numerous messages and statements from various countries slamming Israel’s attack on Iranian military centers.”

Araghchi also mentioned that Iran has formally registered the attack with the UN Secretary General and requested an urgent UN Security Council meeting.

He, however, expressed skepticism about the Security Council’s ability to take an effective measure due to the influence of the US and other countries, but stressed that Iran has fulfilled its duty by documenting the aggression and seeking international response.

Araghchi reiterated that Israel cannot conduct such operations without US coordination, asserting that all crimes in Gaza, Lebanon, and other areas have been carried out with American weapons and political support, making the US complicit in Israel’s actions.

He stated that the US’s participation in Israel’s crimes and regional destabilization is evident, and it bears shared responsibility for these actions.
