IRGC: Four killed, four detained in connection with Iran’s Taftan terrorist attack

Iran Police

Following the “terrorist” incident on Saturday in the southeastern Sistan and Baluchestan province, which led to the killing of 10 Iranian law enforcement forces, the operational and intelligence units of the Quds Base of the IRGC’s Ground Force, in cooperation with the provincial intelligence and police forces, managed to identify the hideout of the “terrorists” and attack them using combat drones, said the report.

It added that during the operation, four “terrorists” were killed, four others were arrested, and several sustained injuries, while noting that a number of them managed to escape.

According to the report, a manhunt has been launched to arrest the rest of the “terrorists”.

The Jaish al-adl group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Talks on Israeli hostages, Gaza ceasefire resumed in Qatar: Source

Israel Hostages

Top negotiators from the United States, Israel and Qatar were slated to meet in Doha on Sunday to discuss efforts to reach an agreement, CNN reported on Thursday.

This is the first round of high-level talks in more than two months. US officials have argued for renewed momentum following Israel’s killing of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar.

Earlier Sunday, Egypt publicly proposed a two-day ceasefire deal in which four Israeli hostages in Gaza would be exchanged for Palestinian prisoners held in Israel.

The proposal was announced by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi at a news conference Sunday. Sisi did not specify the number of Palestinian prisoners that would potentially be released.

Under the proposal, if the two-day ceasefire held, the two sides would then have 10 days to negotiate a permanent ceasefire to get desperately needed humanitarian aid into the besieged enclave, Sisi stated.

Officials in Gaza say the Israeli military has not been allowing the small amount of aid that does reach the enclave to be distributed in parts of northern Gaza, where it is carrying out renewed military operations.

Dozens of hostages taken from Israel during the October 7, 2023, Hamas attacks are still being held in Gaza. There are 101 hostages still held in the blockaded strip, Israeli authorities say, but as many as one-third of them are thought to be dead.

Israel has continued its military onslaught on Gaza following an attack by Hamas last October, despite a United Nations Security Council resolution calling for an immediate cease-fire.

Nearly 43,000 victims have since been killed, mostly women and children, and more than 100,000 injured, according to local health authorities.

The Israeli offensive has displaced almost the entire population of the territory amid an ongoing blockade that has led to severe shortages of food, clean water and medicine.

Israel faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its actions in Gaza.

Mediation efforts to reach a Gaza ceasefire and prisoner swap agreement between Israel and Hamas have failed over Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s refusal to halt the war.

As of April, more than 9,500 Palestinians were being held in Israeli prisons, including more than 3,500 without charges, according to Addameer Prisoner’s Support and Human Rights Association, a Palestinian NGO. That figure doesn’t include detainees from Gaza, the group added.

Palestinians ‘starving to death’ in northern Gaza amid Israeli siege

Gaza War

An Oxfam official told Al Jazeera on Sunday Israel is using starvation as a weapon in its genocide against the Palestinians and that the United Kingdom-based NGO was unable to reach people in the north because of Israel’s ongoing bombing campaign.

Mahmoud Alsaqqa, who is Oxfam’s food security and livelihood lead in Gaza, warned that some Palestinians are “starving to death” from hunger in northern Gaza and more people will die in the coming days.

“There is nothing. You are talking about tens of days that they are not receiving any supplies,” he said, adding that most Palestinians in the area rely on aid supplies.

Aid agencies say about 96 percent of Gaza’s population is facing high levels of food shortages. According to UNICEF, nine out of 10 children lack the nutrition they need for growth and development. At least 37 children have died of malnutrition or dehydration in a year of war.

The United Nations says Israel has blocked the entry of 83 percent of food aid into the Strip since the war began. It added about 50,000 children below the age of five need urgent treatment for malnutrition by the end of the year.

On Sunday United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called for an immediate ceasefire, for the release of hostages and “accountability for crimes under international law”.

“The devastation and deprivation resulting from Israel’s military operations in North Gaza are making the conditions of life untenable for the Palestinian population there,” he said on X, adding, “This conflict continues to be waged with little regard for the requirements of international humanitarian law.”

The Oxfam warning came as Israeli soldiers bombed more neighbourhoods in northern Gaza on Sunday and humanitarian officials sounded alarm about the ongoing ground assault by Israeli forces which is forcibly displacing tens of thousands of residents out of the area.

Israel’s strikes on the towns of Jabalia, Beit Hanoon and Beit Lahiya in northern Gaza have so far killed about 800 Palestinians during the ongoing siege, the Ministry of Health in Gaza announced.

Francesca Albanese, the UN special rapporteur on the occupied Palestinian territories, said on social media platform X that “the entire population of Gaza is at risk of dying in a genocide that has been announced and executed under our watch”.

Albanese was responding to a statement made by UN humanitarian chief Joyce Msuya on Saturday, warning that “the entire population of north Gaza is at risk of dying” under Israel’s siege.

The International Committee of the Red Cross on Saturday noted the ongoing Israeli evacuation orders and restrictions on the entry of essential supplies to the north had left the civilian population in “horrific circumstances”.

“Many civilians are currently unable to move, trapped by fighting, destruction or physical constraint and now lack access to even basic medical care,” it added.

Palestinian health officials say the siege had crippled the healthcare system in northern Gaza and was blocking medical teams from reaching bombed sites.

Israel maintains that its forces have returned to northern Gaza more than a year into the war to root out Hamas fighters who had regrouped there.

Nearly 43,000 people have since been killed, mostly women and children, and over 100,000 others injured, according to local health authorities.

The Israeli onslaught has displaced almost the territory’s entire population amid an ongoing blockade that has led to severe shortages of food, clean water, and medicine.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its actions in Gaza.

Iranian civilian killed in Israel air strike on Iran

A farewell ceremony for the martyr, Allahverdi Rahimpour, was held this Sunday in Tehran.
Rahimpour, originally from West Azerbaijan Province, lived in Nasim Shahr, Tehran Province, where his funeral will take place.

The Iranian Army’s Public Relations Office clarified that the recent attack claimed the lives of four military personnel, and this number has not increased.

The civilian martyr Rahimpour was not an army employee.

The Israeli regime’s assault was conducted against some military sites in the early hours of October 25, in the Iranian provinces of Tehran, Khuzestan and Ilam.

FM: Israel’s attacks against Iran to further destabilize West Asia

Abbas Araghchi

Following the aggressive attack by the Zionist regime on certain military sites within Iran, Araghchi sent a letter to the United Nations Secretary-General and the President of the Security Council, requesting an urgent UN Security Council meeting to take a firm stance in condemning this aggression.

In his letter, Araghchi strongly condemned the Zionist regime’s act as a blatant violation of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as a breach of the principles of international law, including Article 2(4) of the UN Charter, which prohibits the use of force.

The letter emphasizes that this act of aggression, in line with the genocide in Gaza and warmongering in Lebanon, poses a serious threat to international peace and security and leads to further destabilization in the region.

In part of the letter, the Foreign Minister states: “Although the majority of the projectiles were intercepted by Iran’s defense systems, the Zionist regime’s aggressive act caused damage to the targeted sites and, more importantly, resulted in the martyrdom of four members of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Armed Forces.”

Araghchi further emphasized in his letter that, in accordance with the principles of the UN Charter and within the framework of international law, the Islamic Republic of Iran reserves its inherent right to respond to this criminal act of aggression.

At least 6 killed, dozens injured in ramming attack near Tel Aviv

Palestine Attack Israel

According to a statement by Magen David Adom (MDA) emergency response service, the operation was carried out on Sunday morning.

“At 10:08 a.m. (0808 GMT), a report was received… of a truck hitting a bus stop on Aharon Yariv Boulevard in Ramat Hasharon… Paramedics are currently providing medical treatment on-site to dozens of casualties,” the statement said.

Magen David Adom added that it had taken at least 35 settlers to hospitals following the incident.

They included six in serious condition, five in moderate condition, 20 who were lightly hurt, and another four suffering acute anxiety, MDA noted.

Police say that numerous officers are heading to the scene, and further details, including the motive, are under investigation.

According to the police’s initial probe, a bus had stopped at the station outside the Glilot Base to drop off passengers. At the same time, a truck rammed into the stop and the people there.

Police add that the truck driver who rammed into people at the bus stop was shot and “neutralized” by armed civilians in the area.

Israeli media identified the suspected perpetrator as Rami Nasrallah Natour, an Israeli citizen from the city of Kalansua in central Israel.

Israel has faced sporadic attacks since launching its war on the Gaza Strip in October 2023, following the 7 October Hamas attack in southern Israel that left approximately 1,200 dead.

Ex-Iranian FM raps U.S.-Israel alliance, predicts middle east military dynamics

Ali Akbar Salehi

He suggested that America seeks to entrench its presence in the region through Israel, with some even regarding Israel as “America’s 51st state.”

Salehi noted that a ceasefire between Israel and Gaza hinges on Hamas’s resilience. “If Hamas endures these extreme conditions, Israel may reach its limit sooner,” he asserted, adding that the people of Gaza have little left to lose.

Looking ahead to potential military conflicts, Salehi predicted that, based on U.S. experiences in Iraq and Afghanistan, any regional war would likely play out more in maritime theaters than in air or land combat.

He explained that the U.S. avoids a wider conflict, as the consequences are unclear, Middle East stability would be unpredictable, and rivals China and Russia could exploit the situation.

Salehi emphasized that Iran’s deterrent capabilities remain potent, which could dissuade Israel from undertaking severe actions. Despite significant challenges, Hezbollah and Hamas still demonstrate resilience, with Salehi honoring martyrs like Yahya Sinwar, whom he described as a global symbol of resistance.

Iran, he concluded, must prepare for the worst-case scenario.

Zelensky says Ukraine to fight against North Korea in Europe

Volodymyr Zelensky

“(Russia is) increasingly engaging North Korea as an ally, and any day now their soldiers may appear on the battlefield fighting against Ukraine,” Zelensky said.

“Ukraine will be forced to actually fight against North Korea in Europe,” he added.

Zelensky’s comments come amid reports that the Biden administration believes that a contingent of North Korean troops is en route to Russia’s Kursk region to assist Moscow in countering a Ukrainian offensive launched there in August.

Zelensky said on Oct. 25, citing intelligence reports, that Russia is planning to send the first North Korean soldiers to a combat zone on Oct. 27-28.

These soldiers are reportedly receiving training at five military training grounds in Ekaterinoslavka, Knyaze-Volkonskoe, and Sergeevka, as well as in Ussuriysk and Ulan-Ude in eastern Russia.

Although U.S. officials have not confirmed South Korean reports that North Korean soldiers will engage in direct combat, they estimate the North Korean force could number in the thousands and may rapidly be assigned to combat roles, the Wall Street Journal reports.

Estimates on the number of North Korean troops sent to the Ukraine-Russia front line have varied. U.S. officials estimated around 3,000 North Korean troops were training in Russia, but National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby indicated that the overall count could now be higher.

South Korean intelligence has informed lawmakers that North Korean troop numbers in Russia could reach 10,000 by December, while Kyiv has announced that Pyongyang has sent nearly 12,000 troops to Russia, including 500 officers and three generals.

Speaking during his evening address, Zelensky called on Western allies to commit to “stronger decisions in support of Ukraine”, as the threat of the war’s escalation continues to rise.

“The world is capable of stopping the war from unfolding. Abstractions and words are not enough for this – concrete steps are needed.”

On Oct. 24, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol stated that the country could review its ban on supplying lethal arms to Ukraine in light of “North Korean military activities”.

South Korean law prohibits the exporting of weapons to active conflict zones, but Seoul has repeatedly hinted that this could change in light of deepening military cooperation between Russia and North Korea.

Netanyahu claims Israel “severely damaged” Iranian defenses despite Tehran’s denial

Netanyahu

In his first comments on the raids, Netanyahu said that Israel had promised to respond firmly to the Iranian ballistic missile strike earlier this month.

“In the early hours of Saturday morning, we kept our promise and severely damaged Iran’s defense capacity and its ability to produce missiles that work against us,” Netanyahu stated.

“Yesterday we hit the head of the octopus. To the people of Iran I say – our struggle against a tyrannical regime that threatens the entire region. Whoever hurts us, we hurt them.”

Netanyahu thanked the US for “close coordination and assistance” in the IDF strikes on Iran, and said the attack “achieved all its objectives”.

Joe Biden administration officials have announced that Washington was not directly involved with the strike but had been consulting closely with Tel Aviv.

On Saturday, the Iranian Air Defense Forces said in a statement that the country’s integrated air defense system successfully intercepted and countered the Israeli strikes targeting military locations in Tehran, Khuzestan, and Ilam provinces.

The attacks caused limited damage in some locations and the dimensions of the incident are under investigation, the statement added.

The Iranian Army also announced that four of its servicemen had been martyred in the raids.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry has also condemned the Israeli assault as a blatant violation of international law and the UN Charter, reiterating the country’s right to defend itself against foreign acts of aggression.
