Iran FM: US, Zionists Seek Disintegration of Islamic States

Abbas Araghchi

In an exclusive interview with the Egyptian Al-Ghad network on the sidelines of the D-8 Islamic developing countries summit in Cairo, Araghchi emphasized the behavior of the Zionist regime during the Gaza war and the genocide of more than sixty thousand women, children, and civilians in Gaza and Lebanon, as well as its aggression against Syria and the destruction of its defensive, economic, and infrastructural foundations, illustrate the accuracy of Iran’s warnings about Israel’s threat to the entire region.

The foreign minister highlighted Iran’s presence in Syria in advisory roles to fight Daesh and other terrorist groups, warning about the resurgence of the terrorism threat to Syria due to the country’s fragmentation, which poses a threat to all countries in the region.

The foreign minister stated that the main purpose of forming the Resistance Axis in the region was to fight and confront the Zionist regime’s occupation and aggression in Palestine and to restore the Palestinians’ rights.

He emphasized that despite sustaining losses in the developments following the Gaza war and the martyrdom of some its leaders, the resistance inflicted heavy blows on the occupiers, which forced the Israeli regime to negotiate and accept a ceasefire in Lebanon.

Araqchi also dismissed the perception that resistance groups are followers and under the command of Iran as incorrect and noted that the Islamic Republic shares the goal of fighting the Zionist regime and supporting the Palestinian people with the components of the resistance front, stressing each resistance group operates independently.

Iranian cheetah sighted in Miandasht: Last ray of hope to reverse extinction

Reza Shekarian, the director general of the North Khorasan Environment Department, credits recent conservation measures, including habitat improvement and predator control, for the cheetah’s return.

Shekarian emphasized the critical role of local communities and environmentalists in creating a safe environment for these majestic animals.

Once a proud symbol of Iran’s wildlife, the Asiatic cheetah now faces the grim reality of extinction due to habitat loss, overhunting, and dwindling prey.

Recent statistics reveal that only seven adult cheetahs and ten cubs remain in Iran, an alarming decline that has spurred urgent conservation efforts.

Miandasht’s vast plains and diverse prey have historically made it a key habitat for cheetahs.

Iranian parl’t investigates daily ‘disappearance’ of 20 million liters of fuel

Iran's parliament

Abdoljalal Iri, the spokesperson for the parliament’s Construction Committee, has announced the start of the probe into the ministry of oil, as the main entity responsible for the production and distribution of petroleum products.

Iri highlighted, “The disappearance of such a large volume of fuel indicates serious oversight weaknesses and organized misconduct in the production and distribution of petroleum products.”

The lawmaker pointed out the “blatant theft of public assets” without precise tracking, suggests the presence of organized networks exploiting the flaws with the fuel distribution infrastructure.

He held the ministry of oil responsible for the problem, stressing the need for a thorough investigation to identify and legally address those involved in the significant loss.

Iri noted that the price difference between domestic and international fuel, along with substantial subsidies, has created opportunities for profiteers and smuggling networks, resulting in the loss of millions of dollars daily.

He stressed, “The parliament, using its oversight tools, will continue the investigation until all aspects of the issue are clarified.”

He asserted that Islamic countries must fulfill their responsibilities in countering the crimes and aggressions of the Zionist regime, noting that if there is unity and cohesion among the Islamic community, this regime would not dare to undertake such actions.

The President also stated that Islamic countries could establish extensive economic cooperation by creating a common financial mechanism, including a single currency, and activating barter trade.

US admits efforts to change regime in Iran

White House

Blinken was taking part in a conversation at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York on Wednesday when he was asked if the US should adopt a policy of regime change in Iran.

“I think if we look at the last 20 years, our experiments in regime change have not exactly been resounding successes,” Blinken stated, remarks that were met with laughter from the audience.

The secretary of state attributed the failure to the absence of diplomatic relations between Washington and Tehran since April 1980, when President Jimmy Carter severed ties with Iran following the 1979 hostage crisis at Washington’s embassy in Tehran.

Blinken highlighted the “complicated” dynamics in Iran, noting that the US in many ways is “not the best source of a clear view on that” because the two countries have been disengaged. He claimed that the narrative of opposition to the Islamic Republic is “reflective of at least half the population” but “not as clear-cut as that”.

He did admit that there is a “very conservative element in Iran that’s significant in number that probably remains beholden to the regime”.

He also acknowledged that Washington had tried to stir up Iranian society, noting, however, that “it’s really hard to do from the outside”.

“What we’ve tried to do, at different points in time, is, to the best of our ability, further empower people inside Iran who want a different future for the country – to be able to communicate, to be able to stand up, to be able to have some resources to do that,” the secretary of state continued.

Blinken also suggested that Tehran could be seriously considering developing a nuclear weapon amid increased tensions in the Middle East, adding that the administration of incoming President Donald Trump will have to negotiate with Tehran to prevent it from making a bomb.

Tehran has repeatedly declared that its nuclear program remains purely peaceful as always and that the Islamic Republic had no intention of developing nuclear weapons as a matter of an Islamic and state principal.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei issued an official fatwa (religious decree) clearly establishing that any form of acquisition, development, and use of nuclear weapons violate Islamic principles and are therefore forbidden.

The United States, under Trump, abandoned the nuclear deal in May 2018 and reinstated crippling sanctions that the agreement had lifted.

Last week, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing anonymous sources, that Trump’s transition team is considering options for targeting Iran, including a direct attack on its nuclear facilities.
