Ghana President: Iran pioneer of fighting violence, extremism

He made the remarks in a joint press conference with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.

Ghana president urged collective cooperation for fighting terrorism, adding that African continent suffers similar problems in Libya, Morocco and other regions.

Ghana’s President John Dramani Mahama is in Tehran on an official visit to hold talks with senior Iranian officials.

Heading a high-ranking politico-economic delegation, Mahama arrived in Tehran on Saturday night at the invitation of his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani.

The Ghanaian president was welcomed at Tehran Mehrabad Airport by Minister of Agriculture Mahmoud Hojjati who chairs the Iranian side of Iran-Ghana joint commission.

President Rouhani officially welcomed his Ghanaian counterpart on Sunday morning.

The visit is the first by a Ghanaian president to Iran in 37 years.

Mahama is set to hold talks with Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, his Iranian counterpart as well as Parliament (Majlis) Speaker Ali Larijani.

On Monday, he will also attend a trade and economic meeting of businessmen and enterprises from the two countries.

The Resemblance of Abbas Araghchi to a former US Secretary of Labor

Robert Reich was the United States Secretary Labor during the Bill Clinton government, and has written several books criticizing the US capitalist system.

As reported by Parsine News, he is one of America’s well-known centrist political faces. He also was a serious supporter of Iran’s nuclear deal during the nuclear agreement process, and was targeted by various US conservative platforms because of his severe criticism of the Israeli regime and Zionist lobbies.

The interesting point is that Robert Reich bears an uncanny resemblance to Abbas Araghchi, a member of Iran’s nuclear negotiation team.

Saudi troops deployment in Syria political blunder: IRGC cmdr.

“The Saudi government, given its heavy defeats in the region in recent years, may make such a move and commit a strategic mistake,” senior adviser to Leader’s representative to the IRGC, Brigadier General Yadollah Javani, said on Sunday.

Saying that Riyadh intends to achieve its political objectives through such a plan, Javani added the potential deployment of Saudi forces would lead to a “miscalculation” which could cost the Al Saud regime dearly.

He emphasized that the Syrian people have proved that they are capable of resisting any plot, warning that the Saudi deployment would further complicate the situation on the ground in Syria.

“It is obvious for Syrians that terrorist groups are supported by regional and extra-regional countries including Saudi Arabia,” the IRGC commander said, adding that if the United States and European countries are determined to fight terrorism, they should stop supporting terrorist groups.

Javani reiterated Iran’s principled policy on regional developments, particularly on the crisis in Syria, and said the Islamic Republic has repeatedly announced its support for the Syrian nation.

The involvement of any country such as Saudi Arabia in the issue of Syria will not alter Iran’s policies, he added.

Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir on February 8 brought up the possibility of dispatching Saudi forces to Syria as part of the US-led coalition allegedly fighting Daesh Takfiri terrorists in the conflict-hit Arab country.

“There is a discussion with regard to a ground force contingent, or a special forces contingent, to operate in Syria by this international US-led coalition against ISIS (Daesh) and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has expressed its readiness to provide special forces to such operations should they occur,” he said during a visit to Washington.

The idea of Riyadh’s possible participation in ground operations in Syria was first raised on February 4 by Ahmed Assiri, a spokesman for the Saudi Defense Ministry.

Although swiftly welcomed by allies like the United States, the proposal was met with huge criticism from Syria and Damascus’ allies. Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates also followed in Saudi Arabia’s footsteps and hinted their preparedness for similar deployment.

Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem has slammed the initiative, saying “coffins” await any aggressor in the country “whether they be Saudis or Turks.”

Iran trade delegation off to Germany

The Iranian delegation is to visit Germany at the invitation of economic activists in German state of Bavaria.

Located in southeast of Germany, Bavaria is the largest state in that country.

Tehran’s German visit is aimed at boosting bilateral economic relations and attending various related meetings with the German business community.

During the past years, before removal of anti-Iran sanctions on January 16, Iran and Germany experienced a slump in trade ties.

January 16 was announced the ‘Implementation Day’ for the July nuclear deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) coincided with the removal of sanctions.

Implementation of the JCPOA has prepared the ground for Western countries, Germany in particular, to speedily resume ties with Iran.

Iranian President to Visit Turkey: Ambassador

Hassan-Rouhani

The visit will be aimed at attending the third High Council for Iran-Turkey Strategic Cooperation, Bigdeli told reporters on Saturday at the end of his diplomatic mission in Ankara.

“Friendly relations between Iran and Turkey gives us the assurance that the ties are on the right and positive track, and that the path will be continued in the long-term,” he said.

However, Bigdeli added, it is possible that problems and tensions emerge at any time, but one should ensure the required mechanism for resolving such issues is available.

Elsewhere, the Iranian envoy highlighted the role of media in influencing the ties between Tehran and Ankara, saying that their role in this regard is a decisive one regardless of the level of ties between the two countries.

Since Iran and Turkey enjoy an excellent level of ties, it can be concluded that the media have played their positive role in the best way possible, he added.

Rouhani’s visit will come after Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan made an official visit to Tehran at the invitation of his Iranian counterpart back in April 2015.

Iran has sent 4 million barrels of its oil to Europe. This was the first move by the country to show the world that it is serious about increasing its crude oil exports by at least a million barrels per day within a short period after the removal of sanctions. Aside from that, there is much excitement in political circles about the list of candidates for the Parliamentary and Assembly of Experts elections in late February. Each political faction releases the names of their favoured candidates and tensions are running high between leaders of the parties in trying to convey the merits of their choices to the nation. The Munich accord, bringing rising hope for the restoration of peace in war-torn Syria, was also commented upon by Iranian papers on February 14, 2016.

Iran, France Mull Nuclear Cooperation

Iran Condemns US Blacklisting of Its Nuclear Chief

Talks have been held with France on nuclear cooperation, Ali Akbar Salehi told the YJC news agency on Saturday.

“There is a megaproject in France, called ITER, and preparations have been made for (nuclear) cooperation (with ITER),” Salehi added, but did not offer details on the program.

He also said the list of countries that have expressed readiness to launch nuclear cooperation with Iran includes South Korea, Japan and China, noting that Italy and Germany have also voiced preparedness to work with Iran in scientific fields.

Rising interests in nuclear cooperation with Iran follows the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), a lasting nuclear deal between Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) that took effect on January 16.

The JCPOA has terminated all nuclear-related sanctions on Iran, reopened the doors of foreign investment to the country’s market, and prepared the ground for a much-anticipated economic boom.

Iran’s Air Defense Vows Full Advisory Support for Syria

Speaking to the Tasnim News Agency, Brigadier General Farzad Esmaili stressed that if asked by the Syrian government, Iran will vigorously offer advisory help to the Syrian forces in the air defense field, making a reference to Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei’s assertion that Tehran’s support for the allies comes in the form of advisory help.

As regards the speculations on Saudi Arabia’s decision to deploy ground troops to Syria, the commander argued that any presence in Syria without coordination with the Damascus government will be doomed to failure.

Iran, a close ally of Syria, has been supporting the legitimate Syrian government in the fight against terrorists.

Tehran has already made it clear that its assistance to Syria is confined to consultation and advisory help.

Syria has been mired in a civil war since 2011, with government forces fighting an assortment of militant groups, including the Daesh (ISIL) terrorists.

He highlighted the role played by tourism to boost national economy.
He said that the JCPOA provided a golden opportunity to resolve Iran’s economic problems and pave the way for Iran’s advancement and economic development.
Araqchi stressed that the Foreign Ministry is the path opener, while the people and economic activists should use this opportunity to develop their international activities.
Meanwhile, Araqchi advised the private sector activists that signing international memoranda of understanding and agreement is the first steps to keep up with the protocols.
He said that the private sector can do the job freely without going through such procedures.

Iranian Island and Italian Town Become Sister Cities

In a ceremony held in Italy, Iran’s largest Island, Qeshm, became a sister city to the Italian commune of Vimodrone, a municipality in the province of Milan.

The ceremony, which was entitled “Persian Night,” was held on Friday in Milan, and was attended by the Iranian consul, as well as a group of Iranian and Italian tourist industry agents who reside in the European country.

During the ceremony, a plaque was also unveiled which displayed the sisterhood of Qeshm and Vimodrone, the Iranian Students’ News Agency (ISNA) reported.

In the ceremony, Antonio Brescianini, the mayor of Vimodrone (14 kilometres northeast of the city of Milan), spoke about what he had seen during his visit to Iran, and hailed Iranian tourist attractions as well as the country’s cuisine, which he described as a “unique experience”.

The ceremony was held at the end of the second day of Milan’s BIT Fair, one of the world’s leading tourism exhibitions.

In this ceremony, Mohammad Jozi, the Iranian consul-general in Milan, hailed the “glorious” and “fitting” design of Iran’s pavilion in the 36th edition of Italy’s tourism exhibition, which resembled a classical Persian garden.

He also highlighted plans for the expansion of Iran-Italy ties after the recent nuclear deal between Tehran and various world powers, which took effect on January 16, and terminated all nuclear-related anti-Iranian sanctions.

The International Travel Fair, known as BIT (Borsa Internazionale del Turismo), is an event that brings together trade agents from all over the world, a large audience of visitors, travel lovers, television reporters and journalists.

BIT takes place every year, since 1980. Over the years BIT has been an international meeting point for decision makers, professionals, buyers, sharply outlined and selected, coming from different areas, and industry fields.
