Iran Invites Ukraine, Boeing to Take Part in Plane Crash Probe

In a statement on Thursday night, the Foreign Ministry spokesman dismissed the suspicious speculation that the Western media sources have raised about the crash of a Ukrainian passenger plane in Iran.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has begun investigation into the cause of this plane crash in accordance with the international standards and the ICAO’s (International Civil Aviation Organization’s) criteria, and has invited Ukraine, as the owner of the plane, and the Boeing company, as the plane manufacturer, to take part in the investigation,” he explained.

Mousavi once again offered condolences to the families of victims of the plane crash, adding, “The Islamic Republic of Iran welcomes the presence of experts from the countries whose nationals have been killed in the tragic incident, and requests the Canadian prime minister and any other government with information about this issue to give the information to the committee investigating the incident in Iran.”

Iran Eyes South African Support against US Acts of State Terrorism

US Imperialism More Perilous than Coronavirus: Rouhani

Many threatening issues in the Middle East are rooted in the illegal sanctions imposed by the US, President Rouhani said in a telephone conversation with his South African counterpart Cyril Ramaphosa on Thursday.

“We hope that all friendly countries would force the US to respect the law by adopting appropriate stances on this illegal measure,” the Iranian president added.

Highlighting the significance of the other countries’ stances on the unfair American assassination of General Soleimani, President Rouhani said, “We must make it clear for the Americans that the world does not approve of their criminal measures.”

Paying tribute to General Soleimani for his constant fight against terrorism, particularly against ISIS, over the past recent years, President Rouhani said the US crime has promoted the unity and solidarity of the Iranian nation against aggressive countries.

He further hailed South Africa as a friend and supporter of Iran, adding, “Our people have always had a friendly view about the people of South Africa, particularly during the era of anti-apartheid struggle.”

“There has been always very good cooperation between us and the South African government at the international organizations, and I hope that we would once again have a united voice in the international circles in condemnation of such (American) act of state terrorism,” President Rouhani noted.

He finally pointed to a meeting of Joint Economic Commission of Iran and South Africa, expressing hope that the foreign ministers of the two countries would push for the implementation of the bilateral agreements and that the ties would grow in various political, economic, cultural and scientific spheres.

In turn, President Ramaphosa offered his condolences to the Iranian government and nation over the martyrdom of General Soleimani, slammed his assassination as a cowardly move, and said, “I was shocked to hear the news of martyrdom of Lt. General Soleimani who was very popular among people, and we strongly condemn this measure.”

He also stressed the need to broaden ties with Iran in all fields, noting that the Joint Economic Commission should promote its activities and work on the bilateral subjects.

Iran’s President Warns US Not to Make New Mistakes

Iran and Qatar to form joint working group for South Pars study

In a telephone conversation with Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on Thursday, President Rouhani said Iran attaches great significance to regional stability and security, stressing that the only way to preserve security of the region is to build up friendship and cooperation among the neighbors and to prevent foreign interference.

He also denounced the US assassination of Iranian commander General Qassem Soleimani as a serious crime, calling on the world countries, particularly the neighbors, to condemn such American crime.

Assassination of General Soleimani, who was a guest of the Iraqi government and people, was a grave insult to Iraq’s sovereignty and a heinous crime against the Iranian nation, the president deplored.

He also hailed the Iraqi Parliament’s admirable move to pass a resolution on the eviction of American forces from the Arab country.

The president further touched on Iran’s military reaction to the US’ terrorist measure, stressing, “If the US intends to respond to our action, it will receive a very immense and dangerous response, and I hope that Americans, whose political life has been always fraught with mistakes, would not make another mistake.”

He also expressed hope that all countries favoring security would take serious action to force the US to respect law and humanity at this delicate juncture.

Iran will side with the Qatari government and nation against the cruel sanctions like the past, and we are willing to further expand ties between the two countries,” President Rouhani concluded.

The Emir of Qatar, for his part, emphasized that Doha will never forget the Iranian government and nation’s support at the time of sanctions, noting, “We are opposed to any creation of tensions against the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani also highlighted the two countries’ great potential for the promotion of ties, saying the capacities must be used to enhance relations in all arenas.

Iran President Urges Efforts to Contain US Policies

In a telephone conversation with Italy’s prime minister on Thursday, President Rouhani and Prime Minister of Italy Giuseppe Conte discussed the most important issues pertaining to the bilateral, regional and international developments.

The two heads of state also highlighted the deep-rooted friendship between the Iranian and Italian nations, and stressed the need to use the two countries’ capacities to enhance the mutual ties and strengthen regional peace and security.

Responding to the Italian prime minister’s expression of sympathy over the recent incidents in Iran, President Rouhani slammed the US government’s terrorist activities as a serious threat to regional security, and noted that the assassination of General Qassem Soleimani was caused by the American anger at the Iranian commander’s fight against terrorism and ISIS in the region.

“The regional nations are exasperated with the US measures, and we must all try to contain the tensions created and the strategic mistakes made by the perverse US government which result from its lack of knowledge, and to commit that country to the framework of law,” the Iranian president added.

President Rouhani also called on the European Union to adopt independent polices on the major regional issues, stressing, “Security in the region would be impossible unless everyone respects the law and tries to prevent a repetition of such crimes across the world.”

Pointing to the mutual cooperation between Iran and the European states, including Italy, on the major regional issues, the president said, “The European Union has a heavy responsibility regarding the global issues, and it must try to strengthen peace and stability in the region and the world, independent of the US’ wrong polices, and by adopting correct stances; and undoubtedly Tehran will stand by the union under such conditions.”

The regional problems must be resolved by the regional states, President Rouhani underlined, saying the Iraqi Parliament’s resolution on the expulsion of American forces from the Arab country was a “clear and decisive response” to the US interference and terrorist measure.

For his part, Conte said the Italian government understands the great Iranian nation’s anger and grief at the assassination of General Soleimani, and called for collective efforts to reduce the regional tensions.

“Italy will do its utmost to reduce the tensions and strengthen peace and stability in the region,” he noted.

The Italian premier also highlighted the significance of the JCPOA, and stressed the need to save the international agreement despite the US obstructionism.

Iran President Issues New Orders on Backing Businesses Hit by COVID-19

In a telephone conversation on Thursday, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hassan Rouhani and his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky stressed the need to launch a detailed and immediate inquiry into the cause of crash of a Boeing 737 plane that went down minutes after takeoff from the Imam Khomeini International Airport in southwest Tehran on Wednesday morning.

In the conversation, Zelensky expressed gratitude to the Iranian rescue forces, emergency medical services, and technical experts following the crash, and called for mutual cooperation between the technical delegations from Ukraine and Iran in order to investigate the incident and ascertain the cause of the crash according to the international protocols.

In turn, Iranian President Rouhani emphasized the necessity for full cooperation between the two countries’ technical delegations in taking the necessary actions regarding the jetliner crash, adding, “I will order the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development to set up a joint team of experts from the two countries to carefully investigate the cause of the incident.”

The two presidents also agreed on interaction between the Iranian and Ukrainian foreign ministers to expedite and facilitate the course of cooperation between the two countries’ experts for investigation into the crash and for taking the necessary measures.

Iran Did Not Intend to Kill US Troops: IRGC Commander

General Amir Ali Hajizadeh

Elaborating on the details of the attack, Beigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh said Iran could have easily targeted the area where American troops reside in Ain al-Assad airbase instead of launching attacks on their military equipment.

“However, in the first step of our operation, we did not intend to kill American troops. If the operation had continued, all these areas would have certainly been targeted. I emphasize that our operation was aimed at damaging their war machine,” he underlined.

“We could design an operation to kill 500 in the first step, and if they responded, in the second and third steps, we could kill between four and five thousand.”

Hajizadeh also said the “appropriate revenge” for the US assassination of Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani was to expel US forces from the Middle East.

He also noted that Iran can annihilate US troops with a limited number of missiles and offensive equipment.

The Head of the IRGC’s Aerospace Division warned that American soldiers in the region are no longer secure.

Hajizadeh said it is in the interest of US troops to leave region voluntarily, otherwise the axis of resistance will inflict serious cost, damage and humiliation upon them.

He advised Persian Gulf nations not to rely on “the hollow military power of the US.”

He also said Iran had hundreds of missiles ready to fire and when Tehran launched missiles on Wednesday it had used “cyber attacks to disable US plane and drone navigation systems.”

Hajizadeh further stressed that the assassination of Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani will cause a tsunami which will eliminate the Zionist-backed US agenda in the Middle East.

His comments came on the day that Iranians in several cities staged a march to commemorate the country’s top commander Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani one week after his assassination in Iraq.

Huge crowds in the central city of Qazvin and in northern cities of Sari and Rasht took to the streets to denounce the US terrorist attack that resulted in the killing of the popular commander.

Prior to Thursday’s ceremonies, millions of people took part in General Soleimani’s funeral in the holy cities of Mashhad and Qom as well as Tehran and Ahvaz. Muslims usually hold commemoration ceremonies on the seventh and 40th days following the passing of their loved ones.

Iran Presses EU to Separate Itself from US, Not to Dim Hopes

US Seeking to Sow Discord between Iran, Europe: Official

In a telephone conversation with President of the European Council Charles Michel on Thursday,  President Rouhani said the US’ “wrong and harmful” calculations result from its lack of understanding of Iran and the region.

The European Union needs to adopt stances independent of Washington and prevent Iran’s total disappointment with the Europeans, the president added.

“The European Union is a big power with a heavy responsibility in the world, and if it intends to take the path to strengthening regional peace and stability, Tehran will be ready for cooperation and partnership with the union,” President Rouhani stated.

“We believe that the opportunity for cooperation should not be allowed to be missed,” he underlined.

Responding to the European Council president’s sympathy over the recent incidents, President Rouhani said the massive popular demonstrations, from Kashmir to Iraq and Lebanon, in condemnation of the American assassination of General Qassem Soleimani indicate the late Iranian commander’s popularity among people and his leading role in the regional stability and security.

“By intensifying the sanctions against Iran, even on the medicine and foodstuff, the US resorted to an act of economic terrorism, and it violated all international regulations by assassinating Iran’s great commander,” the president deplored, calling on Europe to show reaction to the US’ terrorist activities.

“Iran and Europe are after regional stability and seek to cement the JCPOA again, and it is very important for us that Europe, China and Russia be able to play their significant role in saving the JCPOA, so that Iran’s interests are fulfilled,” President Rouhani noted.

He finally maintained that Iran’s five steps to reduce its JCPOA commitments have been aimed at keeping the balance of the nuclear deal, stressing, “Iran will keep working in cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency.”

In turn, Charles Michel expressed his condolences to Iran over the recent incidents, described the JCPOA as a result of 10 years of negotiations, and said the European Union will do its utmost to salvage the nuclear deal.

Highlighting Europe’s great efforts to play a positive role in the political sphere at the regional and international levels, Michel said the EU has repeatedly called on the US in recent days to avoid escalating tensions in the region.

“We are concerned about the regional developments and invite all parties to practice self-restraint,” the European Council’s president added.

He finally praised Iran for cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency despite a reduction of its JCPOA commitments.

London Owes Its Security to Gen. Soleimani, Rouhani Tells Johnson

In a telephone conversation with the UK leader on Thursday, President Rouhani decried the comments from a number of British authorities about the American assassination of General Soleimani in Iraq, calling on the UK official to reconsider their stances.

“Undoubtedly, without Martyr Soleimani’s efforts, you wouldn’t have had calm in London today,” the Iranian president told Johnson.

President Rouhani also emphasized that the recent Iranian missile attack on a US military base in Iraq, carried out in retaliation for the American assassination of General Soleimani, has been in conformity with the Article 51 of the United Nations Charter and with the right of self-defense.

“Should the US make another mistake, it will receive a very dangerous response,” he warned.

Paying tribute to General Soleimani as a popular figure in the region and a hero of the war on terrorism, President Rouhani said the US government’s terrorist activities have seriously threatened regional security.

“I can say after four decades of friendship and cooperation with General Soleimani that he always sought to strengthen security and stability of the region,” he added.

The president then reiterated that regional security must be ensured by the regional countries alone, stressing, “The Americans and the White House have no understanding of the region, and recognized what a mistake they have made after their terrorist measure and following the uprising of the regional nations and the unity that was created.”

The recent insecurity is totally rooted in the US withdrawal from the JCPOA and in its illegal measures, President Rouhani underlined, adding, “This terrorist action by the US was taken in contravention of all international regulations. They (Americans) have imposed sanctions even on the medicine and foodstuff for the people for two years, and committed a big crime by assassinating General Soleimani.”

He finally noted that Iran will resume honoring its JCPOA commitments if the European parties fulfill theirs, and stated, “Tehran is still committed to cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency, and the agency will be monitoring Iran’s nuclear activities like the past.”

The UK premier, for his part, expressed sympathy with Iran over a series of incidents that have occurred in the recent week.

Johnson also expressed concern about escalating insecurity in the region and about the safety of British troops, and called on all parties to show self-restraint.

Stressing the need to improve the ties between London and Tehran, Johnson said saving the JCPOA would greatly contribute to international security.

The British prime minister finally called for efforts to salvage the JCPOA, which he described as a major international agreement.

New IRGC Quds Force Chief: Other Nations Endorse Anti-US Resistance with Huge Rallies for Soleimani

General Esmaeil Qa’ani

Brigadier General Esmaeil Qa’ani, who was appointed as the new Quds Force Commander following the US’ assassination of General Soleimani, made the remarks in a commemorative ceremony attended by the Leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution.

He pointed to the massive rallies and ceremonies held by other nations of the world to commemorate the demise of the “international martyr”, and said the huge turnout showed these nations endorse the resistance against the global arrogance.

Qa’ani also praised the ‘faithful’ Iranian and Iraqi people for their million-strong participation in the funeral ceremonies held for Gen. Soleimani in various Iranian and Iraqi cities, and described the turnout as “unbelievable”.

The turnout showed off to the enemies the greatness of an entirely revolutionary country, he noted.

The general expressed hope that the assassination of General Soleimani will irrigate the young trees of Islamic Revolution in the region as well as the old trees of resistance.

He also pointed to the retaliatory missile attacks carried out by the IRGC Aerospace Force against a US base in Iraq early Wednesday, and said it was the first slap on America’s face, the biggest material power in the world.

“God willing, this blow will complement the very important decision made by the Iraqi parliament and the resolve of the regional nations to expel and destroy the inauspicious and dirty presence of the US and world arrogance from the region,” he concluded.
