Iran to Export Electricity to Iraq for Two More Years

Iran, Iraq Agree on Two Electricity Contracts

Ardakanian made the remarks during a visit to the Iraqi capital of Baghdad, where he met Iraqi electricity minister.

The Iranian official also noted that Iraq has settled half of the money it owes to Iran for the electricity imports so far, and the settlement of the other half is being processed.

In turn, Iraqi Electricity Minister Majed Hantoush said in his meeting with Ardakanian that Baghdad’s debts to Iran for electricity imports from the country have been put on the agenda and the issue is being dealt with by the Iraqi finance ministry.

He thanked Iran for exporting 1,200 megawatts of electricity to Iraq.

The minister noted this amount of electricity imports is very important in the summer season.

Baghdad hopes Iran’s electricity exports to the country will not decrease this summer, he said, expressing gratitude to the Islamic Republic for meeting Iraq’s demand for electricity.

The Iranian minister, for his part, said Iran has vowed to help Iraq improve its electricity sector.

“Around one and a half years ago, an agreement was signed with Iraqi officials during a trip to Iraq, and we promised that the Iraqi electricity industry will get to a desirable state in a three-year plan,” he said.

“In this regard, and with regards to Iraq’s interests, no other country would have offered Iraq the proposals that we did,” he said.

“These proposals include creating the potential for manpower, reconstructing its installations, reducing losses and offering engineering services,” said Iran’s electricity minister.

“Last year, despite problems, including supplying natural gas to power plants, we tried hard to meet Iraq’s demand for electricity and fulfill our duty with regards to serving the Iraqi nation in the best way possible,”

“This year, our situation is very different, and early heat as well as the coronavirus outbreak has led to a rise in power consumption in Iran, and electricity consumption in the country has registered an unprecedented increase compared to that of last year, and we have a tough situation ahead of us this year,” the Iranian minister said.

Iranian People Urged to Avoid Nonessential Travel as COVID-19 Surges Again

Hassan Rouhani said trips should only be made for necessary work.

“The only way to contain coronavirus is to closely observe health protocols,” said Rouhani in a conversation with Minister of Health and Medical Education Saeid Namaki.

“It would not be right to allow the great achievement of stemming the spread of coronavirus to go down the drain because of negligence,” he said.

President Rouhani also expressed gratitude over the dispatch of medical teams to southern and western provinces gripped by coronavirus.

Coronavirus online test
If you are worried that you may have contracted the Coronavirus, take this test right now.

He emphasized the need for constant supervision over the enforcement, to the letter, of directives and health protocols to fight the spread of COVID-19 by all provincial and state authorities.

“Officials in charge of state and provincial commissions tasked with combatting coronavirus should inform people of relevant developments in cooperation with the state radio and TV,” he said.

“They should tell people to avoid nonessential travel and go on trips only for necessary work,” he said.

The president’s remarks come as Iran, like most other countries, is still grappling with the coronavirus pandemic. Although some restrictions put in place to keep the virus from spreading have been eased recently, people are advised to keep observing health protocol and avoid nonessential travel to stem the spread of COVID-19.

Takht-e Soleyman, Mysterious Historical Site in Northwestern Iran

Takht-e Soleyman is a unique archeological site in a mountainous area in West Azerbaijan. The site, which is replete with a sense of history, represents a well-known hub of Iranian civilization.

Takht-e Soleyman, which was once a strategic area, is located 48 km to the northeast of Takab and has lovely weather.

The ruins of the once glorious site dating back to the Sassanid era are surrounded by a number of lakes, hot springs, ancient graves and historical sites.

Ever since Takht-e Soleyman was registered on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, continuous efforts have been made to unravel the mysteries of the site.

According to ancient scripts, Takht-e Soleyman was believed to be the birthplace of Zoroaster. It was a large educational and social center and a place of worship in the pre-Islamic era for Iranians. But it was ruined in an attack by Heraclius, a Byzantine Emperor, in 624 A.D.

Three kilometers to the west of the site, there is a conical, hollow mountain which was shaped thousands years ago as a result of volcanic activities. Locals call it Prison of Solomon and believe that King Solomon put the monsters which had disobeyed him inside the deep crater.

Some 20 km away from Takht-e Soleyman, there is a mystery lake with a floating island, 60 m in diameter. The island floats across the lake which is 80 m in diameter.

Despite freezing winters in Takab, the temperature of the lake stays at 21̊ C throughout summer and winter.

Takht-e Soleyman Castle which houses the remains of a Zoroastrian fire temple built during the Sassanid era is a key historical site in the world.

The following are images of Takht-e Soleyman released online by Mehr News Agency:

Why You Need to Invest in Home Insurance

That’s why you need to invest in a home insurance policy. Here’s all you need to know about homeowners insurance.

The Basics

Basic home insurance policies generally cover your home’s physical structure, as well, as your personal possessions. Plus, they also provide liability coverage to protect you in case you’re sued for property damage and personal injury caused by you or other family members.

Liability coverage typically provides coverage for a small amount of no-fault medical bills. For instance, if your dog bites someone’s child, your home insurance policy will cater for the medical costs to patch him up.

Protects Your Home

Homeowners insurance safeguards you against various risks that come with owning a home. The benefits are uniquely designed to cover the structure of your home, your personal possessions, liability protection, and additional daily living expenses. It doesn’t cover all types of risks, though. For instance, it doesn’t include the risk of title defects, which could subject your home’s ownership to serious legal challenges.

Structural Damage Repair

Home insurance generally covers the risk of destructive events like fires and tornadoes. So, whenever there’s a need, you can always submit a claim to allow you to repair or rebuild your house. Most lending companies require you to purchase enough home insurance to cover the total value of the mortgage.

However, it’s important that certain policies exclude structural damage because of specific catastrophic events like earthquakes and hurricanes. But other policies provide coverage for these risks only at an extra cost.

Personal Property Replacement

Most home insurers provide coverage for personal items, such as jewelry, that people keep at home. Whether you lose those items due to burglary or a natural disaster, you’ll get full compensation. You can either purchase coverage for the original cash value of your possessions, or for the cost of having them replaced.

Replacement value coverage is generally higher and costs a lot more. And this is mainly because the value of your claim is the same as the cost of purchasing a new item. So, if you want these benefits, find a cheaper home insurance policy.

Caters For Additional Living Expenses (ALEs)

If your house gets destroyed or damaged to an extent where you’re forced to move out, homeowners’ insurance could cover all the extra expenses. These might include hotel bills, meals, and even lost rent.

Third-Party Liability Reimbursement

If a guest gets injured at your home and decides to sue you for personal injury, you might be subject to legal liability. Homeowners insurance caters to all your legal expenses including your lawyer’s fees, court costs, as well as the cost of pay any judgment labeled against you.

The Bottom-Line

Don’t just purchase any homeowner’s insurance. Get one that suits your explicit needs. The above article will help you understand more about home insurance, what’s covered, and how to choose the best policy. Good luck!

Brutality against Black People Shows Nature of US Gov’t: Iran Leader

Leader Calls US Sanctions ‘Crime against Iranian Nation’

In a Wednesday televised address, the Leader referred to the chaotic situation in America following the murder of George Floyd by the US police, saying, “A police officer putting his knee on a black man’s neck and pushing it to death shows the nature of the American government.”

“What is being witnessed in US cities today is a result of realities that had always been kept concealed. However, today these have been revealed leading to the disgrace of the US government,” he added.

“The crime committed against this black man is the same thing the US government has been doing against all the world. They have done the same in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Vietnam, and many other countries of the world. This is the US government’s nature and character that is being exposed today.”

“The people’s slogan of #ICantBreathe can be heard in the massive protests throughout the US. It also represents the heartfelt words of all nations against which the US has committed many atrocities,” the Leader went on to say.

“The US government has been disgraced due to its behaviour. The corona outbreak started in the US later than in other countries, they benefitted from other nations’ experience, and they could have prepared, but they failed to manage Corona properly due to the corruption of their government,” he added.

Iran Strongly Condemns Kabul Mosque Attack

In a statement on Wednesday, Mousavi offered sympathy to the government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and the pacific people of the country over the deadly attack, which killed the prayer leader of the mosque and injured a number of Afghan people.

Two people were killed and two others injured after a planted bomb exploded inside the popular mosque in Kabul’s fortified Green Zone on Tuesday afternoon.
Tariq Arian, spokesman for Afghanistan’s Interior Ministry, said the bomb targeted the mosque at around 7:25pm local time (1500 GMT) when worshippers had gathered for evening prayers.

The mosque is located in a high-security diplomatic area near the offices of several international organisations and embassies.

Prayer leader of the mosque, Mullah Mohammad Ayaz Niazi, was one of two people killed in the attack, Arian said. He was wounded in the attack and died later at a hospital.

Iran-Serbia Ties Should Remain Unaffected by US Sanctions: President

In a telephone conversation with his Serbian counterpart Aleksandar Vucic on Tuesday, President Rouhani stressed the need for the enhancement of economic, trade, scientific and technological cooperation between the two nations.

“We should not allow the cruel American sanctions to disrupt the promotion of economic relations between the two countries, so that we’d be able to serve the interests of the two nations by employing the capacity for cooperation,” the Iranian president added.

Describing closer economic and trade ties between Tehran and Belgrade as a necessity, President Rouhani said, “The officials of the two countries must use the whole capacities and opportunities available in order to broaden cooperation and joint economic activities.”

He further hailed Iran and Serbia’s common stances against unilateralism, called for closer interaction in the international organizations, and stated, “The two Iranian and Serbian nations have always stood against foreign intervention to protect their independence, and have not allowed the aliens to interfere in their internal affairs.”

President Rouhani finally highlighted Iran’s successful planning in the battle with the novel coronavirus and the production of homegrown diagnostic test kits by the knowledge-based companies, expressing Iran’s readiness to share its experiences in the fight against COVID-19 with Serbia and launch scientific and technological cooperation with the European country.

The Serbian president, for his part, called for concerted action by all governments in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

Vucic also emphasized that Serbia has always opposed the imposition of sanctions and pressures on Iran, saying his country stands by the Iranian people.

“We must seize the opportunities and try to promote cooperation between the two countries in various areas, such as the economic, trade, scientific, cultural, technological, tourism and academic fields, to serve the interests of the two nations,” he noted.

The Serbian president finally lauded Iran’s independent stances on various international issues and its respect for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the other governments and nations.

Last month, Serbia’s Minister of Labor, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs Zoran Djordjevic voiced the European country’s willingness to enhance relations with Iran.

In a meeting with Iran’s new ambassador to Belgrade, Djordjevic described Serbia and Iran as friendly countries, saying they will support each other in most of the international issues.
