Iran Demands Iraq’s Explanation on Ship Sinking Incident

Tehran Says Resolved to Broaden Its 'Comprehensive' Ties with Baghdad

Iran’s consulate in Basra says it has contacted the Iraqi officials about the latest condition of the crew of Behbahan vessel and the reason for its capsize.

In this regard, preliminary studies indicate that due to the unfavourable weather conditions and the impact of the waves on the cargo ship, its load has been pushed to one side of the ship, and this has caused the ship to sink, Iran’s foreign ministry said in a a statement on Friday.

The foreign ministry has also noted that the embassy and consulate general of the Islamic Republic in Iraq would match up to return the four survivors and transfer the body of an Iranian national who lost his life in this incident.

Iran’s Behbahan cargo ship capsized early Friday in Iraqi waters near Umm Qasr Port in the southeast of the country.

The vessel was heading from Iran’s Khoramshar port to transfer ceramic and other construction materials to the neighbouring state.

Day Trading Options – An Overview

An option is a versatile security. It’s a contract that allows the buyer the right to buy or sell an asset within a specific time period. If the asset underperforms, the trader is under no obligation to honor the option contract and can simply let the option expire. When this happens the trader loses the amount of the initial investment, but avoids the losses they would have been saddled with had they purchased the asset outright.

There are two types of options: calls and puts. A call gives a trader the right to purchase an asset within a specific time period. If a trader buys a call, he’s hoping the asset’s value increases before the option expires.  A put gives a trader the right to sell an asset; the trader’s hoping that the value declines before the option expires. Buyers of options are referred to as holders, while sellers of options are known as writers. The price that a holder or writer can buy or sell the underlying stock is called the strike price.

There are several advantages to buying options, but most traders will start day trading options for two reasons:

  • To Speculate. When day traders are buying options to speculate, they are betting on the price movement of an asset. The versatility of options allows traders to make money on speculation when the market goes up or down, or even sideways. Profiting from options isn’t easy; a trader has to correctly identify the asset that will move, whether it will increase or decrease, how much movement it will have, and over what time frame this movement will take place. Day traders use options in spite of this risk because it’s an effective way to use leverage. The ability to control a hundred shares with one option contract makes it easy for day traders to generate profits when they correctly identify a price movement.
  • To Hedge. Many day traders look at options as an insurance policy. Options are a means to insure their investments against losses. By using an option, traders can limit the downside without compromising the full potential of their investment. Since traders aren’t under any obligation to pick up an option, it’s a cost-effective way to manage risk.

Iran Condemns Expansion of EU, US Sanctions on Syria

Iran Condemns Expansion of EU, US Sanctions on Syria

Seyyed Abbas Mousavi said in a statement on Friday that the increase of the EU and US sanctions against the Syrian people is an unlawful and inhumane move, and that most of the negative consequences and harms of such bans will be borne by the ordinary people and citizens of Syria.

Mousavi described sanctions as an inhumane tool that directly and seriously jeopardises human rights.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran expresses solidarity with the resilient nation and government of Syria and calls for the lifting of all anti-human sanctions against Damascus so that the Syrians can meet their basic needs and repair the damages caused by Western-backed terrorist attacks against the country’s infrastructure with the help of the international community,” underlined Mousavi.

The European Union has renewed its sanctions against the Syrian government of for another year. The sanctions ban oil imports, certain investments, technology transfer that could aid the Arab country. These sanctions were first initiated in 2011.

The US has also imposed new financial sanctions against Syria as part of its so-called Caesar Syria Civilian Protection Act – also known as the Caesar Act.

“Mr. Michael White, who had been sentenced to prison in Iran for security crimes and in a lawsuit brought by private plaintiffs, was released after satisfying the plaintiffs in respect to the cause of action while being granted Islamic mercy for his other crimes,” Seyyed Abbas Mousavi said in a statement.

“He was released from jail given the time served and in respect of human rights considerations, and left Iran on Thursday,” the spokesman added.
“After the coronavirus outbreak, upon the general directive of the Iranian Judiciary Chief, White was granted furlough, but as long as he had no relatives in Iran, he was handed over to the Embassy of Switzerland, which protects the US interests in Iran, upon the embassy’s request,” Mousavi noted.

“As he had some symptoms of the virus, he was under full medical supervision and treatment during this time, and after making sure that his coronavirus test was negative, the freedom verdict was implemented,” he added.

“Simultaneous with White’s release, Majid Taheri, an Iranian scientist who had been imprisoned in the United States for false reasons, was released from prison as per the court ruling,” Mousavi added.

Mousavi finally appreciated the close cooperation of the Judiciary, the Intelligence Ministry, and the Secretariat of the Supreme National Security Council as well as the Swiss Embassy in Tehran who prepared the grounds for the release of Mr White and Doctor Taheri.

In a tweet on Thursday night, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif called on the United States to release all Iranian citizens.
The developments come a day after Iranian scientist Sirous Asgari, a professor of material sciences at Iran’s Sharif University of Technology, returned home after spending about three years in detention in the US on trumped up charges of fraud and theft of information relating to his work with a university in Ohio.

Last December, Iran freed US citizen Xiyue Wang, who had been held for three years on spying charges, and the United States released Iranian stem cell scientist Massoud Soleimani.

Soleimani was on a sabbatical when he was arrested by US authorities upon arrival in Chicago a year ago and transferred to a prison in Atlanta, Georgia on charges of violating US sanctions on Iran.

The travel bans and home quarantine orders amidst the coronavirus pandemic significantly reduced air pollution; as the carbon monoxide levels, produced mainly by automobiles, has dropped by almost 50 percent as compared to 2019.

The carbon dioxide production, another phenomenon leading to global warming by increasing the world’s temperature, has also declined since the COVID-19 outbreak.
Forests are also relieved from the pollutant waste.

What follows are YJC’s photos of Gorgan forests in northeastern Iran, free from destructive human effects in lockdown days:

Hassan Rouhani said the black community and migrants in the US are facing gross injustice.

The president added people who politically reject the mentality of the White House are also being oppressed, adding Iran roundly condemns the crimes being committed in the United States today.

He said the police killing of George Floyd has become an international issue.
The president said when an innocent person is killed, it touches the hearts of people around the world, regardless of whether the victim was a Muslim, Christian, American, non-American or otherwise.

He then touched upon US President Donald Trump’s move to hold up a copy of the Bible outside the White House a few days ago, saying the Bible is a holy book which invites people to peace, calm and humanity rather than order to kill the innocent.

“It is a shame that a president who wants to act against his own people grabs a holy book and holds up the Bible, and this has enraged all divine faiths because the holy book is holy to us all, and we, too, respect the Bible and Jesus Christ,” he said.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the president said criminal America and Israel have been making every effort against Iranians throughout history.

Addressing a virtual ceremony to open a number of energy projects in southern Iran, Rouhani said, “The inauguration of these projects is a firm response to the United States and Israel, these two criminals that have acted against our nation throughout history.”

“They always launch propaganda campaigns against our nation’s effervescence. They should know well what state the US is in, now at a time when we are seeing one of the worst days in America’s political and social history,” he added President Rouhani noted the enemy is losing face and becoming more discredited day by day.

1,500 Scientists Return to Iran to Work at Research Centres

1,500 Scientists Return to Iran to Work at Research Centres

The Iranian Vice Presidency for Science and Technology says this has been achieved through implementing a cooperation program with Iranian specialists and entrepreneurs abroad.

“Over the past five years, the program has involved more than 8,000 Iranian specialists abroad in short-term and long-term projects with universities, innovation centres, knowledge-based companies and technology parks,” the vice presidency announced.

The experience and knowledge of these people played an effective role in the growth and development of the scientific, technological and economic information of the knowledge-based companies, it added.

“The knowledge of Iranian experts and entrepreneurs abroad has been used with the aim of communicating and cooperating with scientific centres and selected knowledge-based companies, as well as benefiting from new knowledge and technologies to help sustainable development in international fields.”

The main target group of this program are Iranian researchers, specialists and leading scholars abroad. These services are provided in the form of various support mechanisms such as postdoctoral opportunities, and establishment of technology companies, as well as holding specialised workshops.

If the scientific and professional potentialities of Iranians interested in cooperating with the country are used properly, Iran will have a significant leap in various scientific and economic fields, the vice presidency said.
