Iran, Iraq Stress Full Implementations of Joint Agreements

Iran, Iraq Stress Full Implementations of Joint Agreements

Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli said the fields of cooperation between Tehran and Baghdad cover a wide range including terrorism, organised crime and arms and drug trafficking, as well as police cooperation and border security.

“We can boost economic and trade exchanges while adhering to health protocols. We can even increase the working hours of border markets to as much as 24 hours so that traders and businessmen of the two countries can cooperate more,” said Rahman Fazli in a phone conversation with Iraqi minister of interior Osman Ali Farhoud.

Rahmani Fazli also referred to the capacity of the Somar and Khosravi border points and called on the Iraqi minister to activate these borders for the exchange of goods and commercial items.

He also pointed out that in some parts of the border between Iran and Iraq, both in the north and in the south, unfortunately, there exists smuggling of weapons, ammunition and alcoholic beverages.

Rahmani Fazli called for joint meetings of the relevant officials of the two countries to prevent these issues.

In this telephone conversation, the Iraqi interior minister thanked Rahmani Fazli for his call and emphasised on the development of cooperation between the two countries in security, political, and economic fields.

“We are trying to develop cooperation in all fields which is in the interest of both countries and nations,” Osman Ali Farhoud pointed out.

To combat terrorism, organised crime, drugs, smuggling and counterfeit money, Iraq is determined to develop bilateral relations because the two sides need each other’s support, given the long joint borders.

US Deprives Iran’s Chemical Warfare Victims of Access to Medicine: Zarif

US Deprives Iran's Chemical Warfare Victims of Access to Medicine

Mohammad Javad Zarif said the US administration did not know anything about human rights when it was witnessing the use of chemical weapons against Iran during the imposed war with Iraq.

“It does not recognise human rights when imposing sanctions. Washington does not even respect human rights in its economic terrorism,” added Zarif.

Speaking at a ceremony to commemorate the victims of Sardasht chemical attack, the Iranian foreign minister underlined that in the tragedy of Sardasht, one can see two manifestations of humanity and savagery at the same time. However, Iran did not violate human principles in the face of savagery.

“Morality and the power of selfless people never let them go beyond the limits of humanitarian principles. The Iranian nation never retaliated and this honour was recorded for the Islamic Republic in history. Iran does not violate humanitarian principles in the face of oppression and savagery.”

Elsewhere in his remarks, FM Zarif mentioned the United Nations has repeatedly investigated both the Islamic Republic of Iran’s concern over the use of chemical weapons by Iraq and the Iraqis’ claims against Iran.

However, he said, in all of these investigations it has come to the firm conclusion that it was Saddam’s regime that used chemical weapons.

The first time the UN Security Council condemned Iraq’s use of chemical weapons was at the end of the Iran-Iraq war, underscored Zarif.

“Today, through its inhumane sanctions, the United States is preventing (export of) the medicine needed for chemical (warfare) victims; the drugs needed for other victims as well as the drugs needed for various patients,” stressed the Iranian foreign minister.

The Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein attacked Sardasht, in West Azerbaijan province, in north-western Iran, with chemical weapons in 1987. Sardasht is one of the first cities in the world to be targeted by weapons of mass destruction.

On 28 and 29 June 1987, Iraqi bombers attacked four districts of Sardasht with chemical bombs. The chemical attack left at least 110 people killed, and 5,000 others injured.

US Current Policy to Result in Trump’s Fiasco in Elections: Iran

Mahmoud Vaezi said in a message on social media on Saturday that the continuation of the policy of racial discrimination and knee pressure on the neck in United States and the intensification of unilateral sanctions and economic and health terrorism against the great nation of Iran will not lead to Trump‘s victory in the election.

Vaezi further added that such a policy will isolate Trump’s administration in public opinion.

“The United States has no option, but to correct its past wrong policies and make amendments,” reads his message.

Iran May Reconsider Ties with S Korea over Frozen Assets: MP

Hossein-Ali Haji Deligani, a representative of Shahinshahr in the Iranian parliament, said South Korea is blocking Iran’s assets on the orders of the US, but the Islamic Republic will not let such a move remain unreciprocated.

“South Korea is taking our foreign currency by sending goods to Iran, and the import of its products to Iran has overwhelmed the market,” he told Fars News Agency.

Haji Deligani added that this issue will be discussed in the parliament and the necessary decisions will be made about it.

“We will not allow South Korea to create problems for our nation with its cooperation with the United States,” he concluded.

Iran Seizes World’s Largest Amount of Narcotics Despite US Bans

Kazem Gharibabadi, the ambassador and permanent representative of Iran to the international organisations based in Vienna, says 30 Iranian people lost their lives or were wounded during 2,319 operations and armed clashes with smugglers last year.

The operations led to the destruction of 1,886 active international and domestic networks and the seizure of more than 950 tonnes of various drugs, including 47 tonnes of heroin and morphine and 17 tonnes of methamphetamine, he added.

Addressing a ceremony held on the occasion of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking in Tehran, Gharibabadi said this amount of discoveries shows a nearly 20% increase in the volume of discoveries which is an unprecedented achievement in the history of Iran and the world.

He further noted that opium and psychotropic substances are being produced and cultivated at a high rate, and the illegal consumption and trafficking of drugs continues to have a profound negative impact on development and stability of the world.

Gharibabadi referred to the promotion of international cooperation, tangible support and increase of national and regional efforts as the only way to overcome the drug challenge.

He added that a balanced approach based on international drug conventions should guide all national, regional and international measures.

“Any approach aimed at decriminalising and legalising certain types of drugs would undermine international efforts to achieve a world free of drug abuse.”

He expressed regret that despite measures taken by the international community, the world continues to face growing drug problems, and drug use has increased worldwide, especially in developing countries.

Iran Leader Calls for All-Out Campaign against Corruption, Corrupt People

Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said on Saturday financial corruption is a dangerous disease.

“People become hopeful when they see unrestrained and unreserved fight against corrupt individuals because financial and economic corruption is very dangerous, contagious ad infectious like the coronavirus,” said the Leader.

He expressed satisfaction over the measures adopted by the Judiciary to combat corruption, saying, “Fight against corruption, which is at its height at this juncture, should be done without reservation and based on justice and law and without doing injustice and oppression to innocent people.”

Elsewhere in his remarks, the Leader underlined that the coronavirus outbreak is not over yet, urging all officials and people to take health protocols seriously in order to prevent a resurgence of the disease.

He also underlined the need for an “overhaul” in action.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the enemy leaves no stone unturned through media campaigns and creating pessimism in public opinion to neutralize any attempt aimed at bringing about reforms and overhaul in the system.

He urged authorities not to remain inactive and to bravely continue on the path to bringing about overhaul in order to counter efforts against change.

Arms Embargo Won’t Affect Iran’s Defence Power: Top General

Major General Hossein Salami said Iran is under an international arms embargo.
“On the one hand, there are arms embargoes in place, and on the other, the US and its cronies are among the threats to us,” said General Salami, the commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC).

“This arms embargo gave [Iranian] scientists an opportunity to meet the country’s defence needs by drawing on domestic potential,” he added on the sidelines of visiting an exhibition showcasing the achievements and capabilities of the Research and Self-Sufficiency Organization of the IRGC’s Ground Force.

He said a whole variety of land weapons have been put on display at the exhibit.
The top general underscored using equipment that gives the military an edge will “prepare the lad force for a clear-cut war.”

He said Iran is has reached self-sufficiency when it comes to producing land weapons systems.

The top general said the IRGC will, in the near future, unveil systems used to attack the enemy unawares.
