Where Is Shortwave Radio Used Today?

Radio waves are the type of electromagnetic waves that use frequency range between 30 Hz and 300 GHz. An electronic device called a transmitter is used to send signals which are then collected by the antenna. Radio is a very widely used communication device. Nowadays, radio waves are used in mobile phones, telephone lines, telecommunication systems, etc.

Shortwave Radio

A shortwave radio is a radio transmission device using shortwave radio frequencies. Shortwave radio uses the radio waves that can be reflected and refracted from the electrically charged particles from the atmosphere called the ionosphere. It uses short radio waves. Thus, the short waves reflected in the sky can be refracted back into the earth at longer distances. This is also called the skywave.

Discovery of Shortwave Radio

Shortwave radios were discovered a long time ago when there were not many technological devices to communicate and catch signals. Shortwave radio was formed in the early 20th century when the radio waves were divided into long waves, medium waves, and short waves. Shortwave radio got its name because the wavelengths used in this are shorter than 200m (1,500 kHz). Radio amateurs carried out the first shortwave transmission over a large distance. Long-distance communication was possible on shortwave bands. It was discovered by Amateur radio operators.

Use of Shortwave Radios

Shortwave radios were commonly used years ago. Nowadays, there are many other devices that are used to communicate and broadcast news from all over the world. Radios were used when there were no other means of communication. Currently, radio waves are used by big telecommunication companies. Shortwave broadcasts supply major and popular news and entertainment from almost all over the world. Despite their heydays being over, the demand for extended distance communication is still strong, and if you are planning to get yourself one make sure to check some of the best shortwave radio comparison sites for practical advice.

Shortwave radios are used in circumstances where there is long term unavailability of internet or communication satellites. The world’s most famous and powerful radio stations are China Radio International, The Voice of Russia, The British Broadcasting Corporation, and the Voice of America. Apart from the usage of shortwave radios in broadcasting, the frequencies and techniques of shortwave radio are also used to relay telephone and telegraph communications over large distances. Amateur radio stations, portable two-way radios operate on shortwave bands and frequencies.

The majority of people still receive news from radios. As radios don’t need any internet connection, they are easy to use. BBC News is one of the biggest platforms that receive news from radios. You can listen to the radio in your car. No matter what time of the year it is, no matter what the weather condition, shortwave radios always broadcast news.

Shortwave Radio Stations

Shortwave radio stations are the places where you happen to know about the current happenings around the world. An instinctive free online resource of shortwave radio comparison schedules is ShortwaveSchedules.com. You can find and lookup broadcast schedules by the station, frequencies, or what is currently on the air.

Reading Frequencies on Radio Dial

There are two types of radiofrequency dials; analog and digital. The digital dial is recent and is easy to use. The person who never used a radiofrequency device before will find it difficult to read analog dial. Therefore, the digital dial is recommended to beginners. Shortwave broadcast frequencies are often in kHz. Not everyone knows this scale, so the digital dial is easy to use.

Broadcasting Schedules

Thanks to the internet for making life easier. Everything can be dealt with online at home rather than going to places. With the availability of the internet, it has become much easier to broadcast schedules. There are many websites that upload schedules for broadcasting shortwave radios. Not only schedules, but online streaming is also available. Many people still listen to the radio. However, some believe it is an old way of communication, while others find it indispensable for their needs.

Lasting Power of Attorney (Lpa): What It Is and Why It’s Important

This is a legal document that permits people you trust to make decisions on your behalf when you are no longer mentally fit to do so. No one wishes to be found in such a situation. However, unfortunate events like accidents or illnesses can render an individual mentally incapacitated. Having an LPA can save the day.

Types of LPA

There are two types of LPA; both of them have different purposes. Some LPAs oversee your finances, others cater to your health. You may need one or both, depending on your circumstances.

  • Property and Affairs

You can create this LPA to grant those you trust the permission to oversee your financial affair when you no longer have the capacity to do so. They determine what to do with your property, bank accounts, and building society accounts. This does not imply that they can just do whatever they like. Far from it, they make decisions that are in your best interests, depending on your specifications.

They can receive and use your benefits to cater for your expenses, senior centre membership fees, and utilities. Having an LPA does not take away your rights. On the contrary, it ensures a control of rights in situations where you can’t make decisions anymore.

  • Health and Welfare

Having this LPA enables your attorney(s) to make decisions in regard to your health and personal welfare. Only those that you trust can decide what type of health care you get, including medical treatment decisions. They also have control over where you stay – whether at home or in an ideal care home. Also, the LPA permits them to oversee your daily routine, one of which includes your mealtimes. With LPAs UK, you can create an LPA in just minutes. Have the details that will be requested from you ready.

Individuals Involved in Creating an LPA?

Creating an LPA is not a one-man’s job. The following people play a role in making an LPA: the donor, attorney, certificate provider, witnesses, and other members the donor choose to notify.

  • The Donor

This is the person creating the LPA, which in this case is you.

  • Attorney

Anyone over the age of 18 can be appointed as an attorney.

  • Certificate Provider

This individual ascertains your willful decision to make an LPA by signing the LPA form. They can either be a professional, like a solicitor, or someone you trust. This attorney also ensures that you understand your decisions. Here are some rules for appointing a certificate provider:

  • The individual must not be under 18.
  • Family members are illegible.
  • Paid employees or business partners are illegible.
  • Owners, managers, directors, and employees of a homecare you reside in are illegible; as well as their family members.

4. The Witnesses

You can appoint anyone over 18 to be your witness. Witnesses can also be certificate providers. However, attorneys cannot be witnesses.

5. Other Special Members

When making an LPA, you need to notify up to five people about it. They do not have to sign the form. You just have to send them notification letters when registering your LPA. These individuals have three weeks to express concerns and objections (if any). This confirms that you are making this LPA voluntarily.

Ali Asghar Mounesan said with the start of local travels, the Islamic Republic is witnessing a resurgence of the tourism industry.

“Eight million foreign tourists arrived in the country last year before the corona pandemic, which showed a growth compared to the previous year.

However, local tourism in the country has now begun with all the health protocols in place, and, as of early August, with the plans that have been made, we will see the presence of foreign tourists in the country again,” added Mounesan in an interview on radio.

He also noted that getting together is the main threat for people amid the pandemic; however, if all the health protocols are observed during the trip and gatherings are avoided, there will be no problem.

All accommodation facilities across the country will follow the health protocols accurately and completely and their performance will be monitored, he concluded.

Iran Says ‘Infamous’ US Regime in No Position to Judge Other Countries

Iran Says 'Infamous' US Regime in No Position to Judge Other Countries

In a statement on Thursday, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyyed Abbas Mousavi dismissed the annual Country Reports on Terrorism released by the US regime, saying, “The Islamic Republic of Iran categorically rejects and condemns the US’ annual Country Reports on Terrorism because that regime is blatantly shifting the blame onto others, is utterly insincere, and has double standards in the fight against terrorism.”

“The United States of America’s regime, known as the biggest state sponsor of terrorism and the main sponsor of the aggressive and occupying Zionist regime, is in no position to claim to be fighting against terrorism and make judgments about this issue,” the Iranian spokesperson added.

History of the past couple of decades clearly shows that the United States of America, as acknowledged even by a number of American officials, has had a role in the creation of some terrorist groups or has supported those groups and their terrorist activities, Mousavi noted.

“Trump has also admitted openly in his election campaign that the previous US administrations have created ISIS and other terrorist groups,” he noted.

The spokesman further slammed the US regime’s cowardly and terrorist move to assassinate Lt. General Qassem Soleimani –known as the hero of the war on terrorism- as a brazen example of the US regime’s terrorist crimes, saying, “The Islamic Republic of Iran, as the biggest victim of terrorist actions, which have been taken mainly with the US government’s direct and indirect supports, and with more than 17,000 people martyred in this path, is always at the forefront of the fight against terrorism at the global and regional levels.”

Mousavi finally denounced the US regime’s unilateral sanctions, economic terrorism, and medical terrorism against people of Iran as the latest example of the US regime’s terrorist measures against independent nations in the world.

In the Country Reports on Terrorism 2019, the US Department of State has hailed the maximum pressure campaign against Iran, saying the US and its allies impose new sanctions on Iran for what it called Tehran’s support for terrorism.

Iran Calls for Global Campaign against Illicit Drugs

Iran Calls for Global Campaign against Illicit Drugs

Secretary of the Iran Drug Control Headquarters Eskandar Momeni underlined that the scourge of drugs is an international and multifaceted issue.

“The International Day against Drug Absue and Illicit Trafficking can contribute heavily to the promotion of public awareness and urge member states of the United Nations to upgrade regional and international cooperation to fight the production and distribution of narcotics and can decrease demand and the harm caused by drugs and can play a key role in the prevention and help treat and rehabilitate drug addicts,” he said on Thursday.

“Today, the issue of drugs is no longer a social malady and a health problem limited to a certain society of region,” he said.

“Rather, it has gone beyond geographical boundaries and has gone beyond all global borders while being linked to organized crime, corruption and money laundering,” he noted.

The official expressed regret that the youth, who are the driving force behind the development of societies, are among the prime victims of narcotics.

He touched upon measures adopted by Iran to combat narco-trafficking and said the Islamic Republic has paid a heavy price, both in terms of funds and human cost, to counter drug-trafficking.

He called on all countries to work together both at the regional level and internationally to fight narcotics.

US Seeking to Sow Discord between Iran, Europe: Official

US Seeking to Sow Discord between Iran, Europe: Official

“The United States’ effort to drive a wedge between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the European countries has always been part of the White House’s covert and overt policies,” said Mahmoud Vaezi, the chief of staff of the President’s Office, in a Thursday article.

“America’s recent move to embolden and encourage the three European countries to take the initiative to propose a resolution to the IAEA’s Board of Governors is an example of such White House policies in order to divide Iran and the European countries,” he said.

Vaezi noted such attempts are made at a time when no country has been subject to IAEA’s inspections as much as Iran has.

“Without any hyperbole, no country has been cooperating with the IAEA within legal and internationally recognized frameworks as much as Iran has,” he added.

“Members of the Board of Governors know well that at the moment, Iran is voluntarily implementing the Additional Protocol as a goodwill gesture while being sure that its nuclear activities are peaceful,” he said.

“At the same time, Iran has shown that it will not give in to excessive demands by any country or organization,” said Vaezi.

Accordingly, he said, Iran rejects all the recent accusations levelled against it as they were based on baseless allegations coming from untrue spy data and Israeli pressure.

He said the acceptance of this resolution would mean authorizing spy activities and approving of inappropriate interference which runs counter to internationally recognized norms.

However, he noted, Iran will continue to welcome the agency’s legal inspections like in the past, but will not bow to bullying.

He dismissed as “unacceptable, questionable and illogical” the European countries’ double-standard approach towards Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities and those of countries which refuse to join the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and are engaged in non-peaceful atomic work.

Iran’s Defence Power at Maximum Level Despite Toughest Sanctions: Minister

General Hatami said on Thursday the Islamic Republic has been able to reach the highest level of deterrence in terms of military power.

The top military commander added that sanctions have become an opportunity for the security forces of the Islamic Republic to develop endogenously and productively in several areas, especially the defence industry.

Hatami made the statements in a ceremony to deliver three domestically-manufactured fighter jets called Kowsar to the Army Air Force.

He went on to say that Iran does not need the permission of the arrogant powers for developing its defence sector.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Brigadier General Hatami praised the efforts made by the country’s military experts to build the jets amid the coronavirus outbreak.

He also pointed out that knowledge-based companies and universities are collaborating with the military experts and the Islamic Republic would soon produce more developed aircraft.

Iran Starts Building Major Pipeline as Safe Way for Oil Exports

Iran Starts Building Major Pipeline as Safe Way for Oil Exports

President Hassan Rouhani said other countries in the region have also developed alternative methods of supplying oil should the Strait of Hormuz become unsafe one day for exporting crude.

“Many regional countries managed to find a second way to export oil in case it would be risky one day to export crude via the Strait of Hormuz. Alternative methods could be exporting oil through the Red Sea, the Sea of Oman or the Mediterranean,” said the president at a ceremony where operational work got underway for three major projects of the Iranian Oil Ministry.

The projects included a major pipeline that connects Goreh in the west of Persian Gulf to Jask Port in its east, making the country independent of Strait of Hormuz for oil exports.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran was the only country whose oil exports would be completely halted if the Strait of Hormuz were closed one day for some reason,” he said, indicating that the problem is solved now that a pipeline is being constructed in the south of the country as an alternative way for the Strait of Hormuz to export oil.

“This is the most important project, not only from an economic point of view, but also in terms of national security, economic security and energy security,” he said.

“With the pipeline taking oil to [the port of] Jask going into service in March 2021, hopefully some one million barrels of crude will be exported from this port,” he noted.

Jask will turn into Iran’s key hub of oil exports,” said the president.

He said the inauguration of major national projects is a very strong message to the Americans as well as adversaries of Iran and those who have imposed sanctions on this country.

“The enemies should know that their attempts are futile and will get nowhere, and we will press ahead with our projects and important national objectives without even one minute of delay,” he said.
