Iranian Starts Producing Superalloys Vital for Various Industries

Managing Director of the Paya Mavad Company Jalal Danesh said nickel- and cobalt-based alloys are an integral part of advanced industries.

“Superalloys retain their properties in high temperatures and are mostly used in industries like power stations and for the manufacturing of gas-powered turbines,” the top manager was quoted as saying by the Science and Technology Department of the Presidential Office.

He said one of the key activities of the company is to turn out state-of-the-art parts and equipment which are based on nickel and cobalt alloys.

“Nickel- and cobalt-based superalloys enjoy unique features. For instance, cobalt-based alloys are highly resistant to abrasion and can be very effective in the above-mentioned industries,” he said.

He also touched upon the production of springs made of superalloys, which he added, enjoy high technology and retain their properties in special conditions and temperatures.
He noted these springs are very important in melting industries.

The top executive further said his company also produces superalloy parts used in gas-powered turbines.

“We are active in this area, too, and rebuild and renovate parts, specially big and modern ones. More than 300 types of spare parts for gas-powered turbines are produced in this company,” he added.

He said many of the equipment and parts made of superalloys used to be entirely imported, but now many Iranian companies are making such products.

Expansion of Economic Ties with Neighbours a Priority: Iran VP

COVID-19 Punishes Those Who Sanctioned Iran’s Oil: First VP

First Vice President Es’haq Jahangiri described Iran’s relations with its neighbours as “strategic,” saying, “we should not allow our economic exchanges to decrease because of some peripheral political issues.”

The top official said plans should be drawn up to handle economic relations at the time of sanctions.

“We should have precise programs for when sanctions might remain in place or be lifted; but assuming that conditions will improve and there will be opportunities for cooperation with European countries, we should bear in mind that neighbouring countries take priority when it comes to the expansion of ties; moreover, we should not forget the countries which worked with us during tough times,” he said in a joint meeting of heads of joint chambers of commerce of Iran and neighbouring countries.

The official then described Iran’s geographical situation as unique.

He said Iran lies on the routes of the North-South and East-West corridors and has 15 neighbours, which are good opportunities for the country’s development.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the vice president noted the private sector should become more active, adding those working in the economic arena should be supported.

Turkish FM Calls Zarif to Reaffirm Respect for Iran’s Sovereignty

In the Saturday telephone conversation with Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, Cavusoglu underlined the close and friendly relations between Turkey and Iran, and highlighted Ankara’s definite policy of good neighbourliness.

Foreign Minister Cavusoglu also gave an assurance that Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan fully respects Iran’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The senior Turkish diplomat explained that President Erdogan had not been aware of the sensitivities surrounding the lines he recited in Baku and associated the poem only with Lachin and Karabakh, which is why he recited it in the recent event in Azerbaijan Republic.

For his part, Foreign Minister Zarif underscored the significance of friendly relations between the two neighbours that signify mutual respect.

Highlighting the cordial ties between the president of Turkey and the high-ranking officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Foreign Minister Zarif expressed hope for the expansion of bilateral relations on the basis of mutual trust.

The phone call from the Turkish foreign minister came after President Erdogan provoked controversy when he recited lines from a folk song that promises a reunion of Azeri-speaking people from Iran and Azerbaijan Republic, who are now separated by the Aras border river.

The Turkish leader made the comments at a speech to the “Victory Parade” in Baku on Thursday.

Iranian, Afghan Diplomats Hold Bilateral Talks in Kabul

In the Saturday meeting, the Afghan deputy minister expressed gratitude to Iran for hosting the Afghan refugees uninterruptedly and for supporting the peace talks in Afghanistan.

Nab also congratulated the Iranian and Afghan governments and people on the recent inauguration of Khaf-Herat railroad in an online ceremony attended by the presidents of Iran and Afghanistan, describing it as a major step in strengthening and enhancing relations between the two neighbours.

For his part, Araqchi praised the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan for its warm hospitality during his stay in Kabul.

The Iranian deputy foreign minister also condemned the rocket attacks that have killed and injured a number of Afghan citizens earlier on Saturday.

Araqchi also expressed hope that a comprehensive document on long-term cooperation between Iran and Afghanistan would be soon finalized and signed.

The two diplomats further discussed the issues relating to the comprehensive cooperation document.

They also talked about the peace negotiations between the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and the Taliban, Iran’s role in creating regional consensus on the political and security conditions in Afghanistan, the expansion of political, economic and trade ties between Tehran and Kabul, and other issues of mutual interest.

Iran Starts Mass Producing Gate Valves in Defiance of Sanctions

The production line was established by two major companies and was inaugurated in a ceremony by Vice President for Science and Technology Sorena Sattari.

The gate valves are used in a pipeline almost 1,000 km long taking oil from the Goreh area to the port of Jask.

It is one of important national projects transferring some 2 million barrels of crude oil daily.
Speaking at the ceremony, the vice president said good cooperation exists between knowledge-based start-ups and major corporations, which has seen innovation and creativity finding their way into old big companies.

“It is very important to support knowledge-based companies at a time of sanctions,” he said, adding the Science and Technology Department of the Presidential Office is doing so by supporting domestic production of goods.

“Currently, there are more than 5,500 knowledge-based firms in the country, which have created more than 300 thousand jobs,” he said.

Coronavirus Vaccination to Begin in Iran in Late December: Official

Mohammad Mokhber, an official in charge, said Iran is in the final stages of developing its own vaccine for COVID-19.

“We are confident that we will produce the best vaccine in the country,” he said on Saturday.

Mokhber said he and his colleagues are ready to be injected with the vaccine.
“This vaccine will be developed from the dead virus and will have the minimum consequences,” he added.

He said each of the three phases of the vaccination will take 28 days.
“First, this vaccine will be injected into 56 people, and it will be tested on different genders,” the official noted.

“In the second phase, some 500 people will receive shots, and there will be no limitations for phase three and we can mass-produce it,” he said.

“Three to four months after the human test, we will reach a point where the country won’t need to import the vaccine,” said the official.

He said the vaccination gets underway in late December, 2020.

COVID-19 Infections, Deaths Declining Thanks to Restrictions: President

In comments on Saturday, President Hassan Rouhani further warned people against taking the COVID-19 lightly.

“One important issue that media should always highlight is the danger of regarding the coronavirus outbreak as something ordinary,” he said.

“Whenever we feel that it is over and there are no problems and dangers anymore and that we have weathered the coronavirus crisis, a resurgence of the disease and a rise in figures will immediately start in the coming weeks,” the president noted.
He said the first priority is to protect people’s health.

“Of course, coronavirus has not only affected people’s health, but their economy, culture, lives and social issues as well, and everybody should help to contain the disease,” he said.
President Rouhani noted Iran has never denied the risk posed by COVID-19.

“Unlike some countries such as the United States where its president kept saying, for weeks, that there was nothing [dangerous],” Iran publicly announced the outbreak of the disease as soon as the first infections were reported, he said.

He thanked people, medical personnel, and relevant institutions for their cooperation in the campaign against the disease.

The president called for health protocols to be observed more seriously in places like barracks and garrisons where, inevitably, more people are staying.

The president urged people to keep abiding by health protocols.

“All of us should know that it is not enough to simply comply with some health instructions such as wearing masks, observing social distancing rules and washing hands; rather, all existing health protocols must be observed, especially in the current cold season when people naturally spend most of their time in closed spaces and indoors,” he explained.

He noted the government has adopted the necessary measures to purchase the coronavirus vaccine, expressing hope people will prevent another surge in the disease by conforming to health protocols until the vaccine is distributed on a large scale.
