Baku says welcomes Iran presence in reconstruction of liberated Azeri areas

Jeyhun Bayramov, in a phone conversation with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir Abdollahian, also expressed pleasure with the expansion of cooperation between the two countries. Bayramov added that Baku hopes the land borders of Iran and Azerbaijan will reopen soon.

He also underscored the joint support of Islamic countries for the rights of the Palestinians, saying the Republic of Azerbaijan, as the rotating president of the Non-Aligned Movement, is ready to receive, follow up and support the proposals on the Palestinian issue and on defending the rights of the Palestinian people in NAM.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian also congratulated his Azerbaijani counterpart on the advent of Eid ul-Fitr and underlined the need for continuing the exchange of high-level delegations between the two countries.

Amir Abdollahian referred to the control of the Covid pandemic in both countries and stressed the necessity of reopening land borders of Iran and Azerbaijan.

Iran’s top diplomat further spoke about the crimes of the Zionist regime in Palestine, especially in al-Aqsa Mosque, and voiced hope that given the rotating presidency of Azerbaijan in the Non-Aligned Movement, this country will be able to use its capacities to play an effective role in stopping the bloodshed and the violation of the rights of Palestinians.

Amir Abdollahian calls for OIC ministerial meeting over Palestine

The Iranian foreign minister expressed support for the meeting of the ambassadors of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation focusing on the issue of Palestine.

He welcomed a meeting at the level of foreign ministers of Islamic countries to consult on the latest developments in Palestine and the Zionist regime’s crimes in al-Aqsa Mosque.

Amir Abdollahian also expressed support for the implementation and continuation of the ceasefire in Yemen and stressed the need to completely lift the humanitarian siege on Yemen.

The Iranian foreign minister also referred to the recent killings and acts of terrorism in Afghanistan and called for more attention from Islamic countries as well as the international community to help resolve the problems of the Afghan people.

Hussein Ibrahim Taha also called the issue of Palestine the top priority of this organization and the Islamic world.

He stated that the Organization of Islamic Cooperation has always supported Palestine and is pursuing different initiatives to support Palestine and holy Quds, and follow up on the legitimate rights of the people of this country with the support of major Islamic countries.

He condemned the heinous terrorist acts in Afghanistan, calling them an attempt to divide Muslims.

Iran to register all Afghan refugees

Vahidi stated that one of the serious problems for Afghan nationals entering Iran is their identification, adding that not knowing the exact number of refugees and their location is hindering efforts to help them.

“After the catastrophes that the United States caused in Afghanistan and the many problems that it created for the people of this country and after the formation of the new government, we faced an influx of Afghan refugees coming to the borders of our country,” Vahidi explained.

“The people of Afghanistan have faced many difficulties…, some of whom were forced to come to the borders of Iran out of fear and viewed the Islamic Republic as a safe place…on the other hand, some of the Afghan people became financially broke and saw all their assets lost, and we faced a large wave of Afghan people moving to the borders of Iran,” he added.

The Iranian interior minister denounced certain biased media outlets which recently tried to start an anti-Iran campaign by depicting a fake image of the situation of Afghan refugees in the neighboring country, noting that Iran had an open door policy toward Afghan refugees during the crisis in Afghanistan.

Iran has been a major destination for Afghans leaving their country amid worsening poverty and hunger. The Islamic Republic currently hosts several million refugees from neighboring Afghanistan.

IRGC: Israel’s days numbered

It said the Zionists thought by pursuing evil schemes like the so-called deal of the century and by normalizing relations with some Arab countries, the Palestinian issue will be forgotten, but what is happening in the occupied territories has not only failed to create security for the criminal Zionist regime, but it has also brought them close to an explosion.

The IRGC said the discourse of resistance believes that the only way to resolve the Palestinian issue is to kick out the Zionists from Palestine and that any reconciliation with the child-killer regime such as normalization is merely a big historic mistake.

Downward trend holds in Iran’s Covid deaths and infections

The fatalities happened in the past 24 hours. They push the total death toll from the disease since the start of the pandemic to 141,058.

The Health Ministry also logged 969 new Covid cases in the past 24 hours. They include 172 hospitalizations.

Reports say many provinces in Iran have had no deaths since Wednesday due to the downward trend in fatalities and infections.

The declining numbers of deaths and infections have been attributed to the nationwide vaccination campaign in Iran that has seen over 27 million people getting their booster shots and also the administering of nearly 149 million doses of vaccine.

The number of cities marked red has also hit a record low in months. Red zones are areas where people face the highest level of risk from Covid. According to official figures, there are currently only two red cities across Iran.

Meanwhile, 75 cities are blue, which denotes the lowest level of danger from the Coronavirus.

Resistance front should make normalization with Israel costlier: Iranian official

Qalibaf made the remark during a meeting with Khalil al-Hayya, a member of Hamas’ politburo, in Tehran on Thursday.

“The Islamic Ummah, resistance groups, and the Islamic world should make the normalization of ties with the Zionist regime costlier, and the unity of Palestinian groups is certainly very effective in achieving victory,” he said.

Qalibaf said jihad and resistance were “our first priority” for Palestine, and that international law and political and cultural efforts came next.

Al-Hayya, who is in Iran ahead of the International Quds Day, said Israel was attempting to force Muslims from the al-Aqsa Mosque and put Israeli settlers in the area instead, “but their plot has blown up in their face.”

“Given the coinciding of Muslim and Jewish religious festivals, the Zionist regime is after imposing a new status…, but with help from the people, the defenders of holy shrines, and resistance groups, we have made efforts to keep al-Quds and the al-Aqsa Mosque the symbols and axes of resistance,” the Hamas official said.

The late founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini, designated the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan as the International Quds Day in 1979.

Iran, Russia sign comprehensive railway transit agreement

Iran’s Minister of Roads and Urban Development Rostam Qassemi and Russia’s Minister of Transport Vitaly Savelyev signed the agreement on Wednesday, as Qassemi was in Moscow.

The Iranian minister traveled to the Russian capital on Wednesday to discuss the enhancement of bilateral relations in the area of transportation and finalize past agreements.

During the signing ceremony, Savelyev said Russia viewed Iran as a “hub of commerce and transit” in the region and said that the completion of an Iranian railway route that would help connect Northern Europe to the Indian Subcontinent would give the countries in the region, including Russia, “many transit benefits.”

Qassemi said Iran viewed Russia as an important neighbor with historical ties, adding the two countries could neutralize US sanctions by collaborating with each other.

Earlier, he had called the development of transportation infrastructure a prerequisite for the enhancement of the economic ties between Iran and Russia.

On his trip to Moscow, Qassemi is being accompanied by Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy Mehdi Safari, a number of deputies at the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, the director of Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization, and the CEO of Iran’s Mahan Airlines.

Iran’s SNSC chief meets Iraqi parliament speaker

Al-Halbusi, who arrived in Tehran to meet with the high-ranking Iranian official on Wednesday morning, held a meeting with Shamkhani in the afternoon.

Cooperation to create a strong, prosperous, developed and stable Iraq in Iran’s neighborhood is the permanent policy of the Islamic Republic, Shamkhani told al-Halbusi in the meeting.

The SNSC chief added that Iranian companies are ready to strengthen cooperation between the two countries by participating in economic and technical projects in Iraq.

The top Iranian security official also stated that Tehran is monitoring the meddlesome presence of the Zionist regime and the United States in the region and will react quickly and decisively to any security action with might.

Al-Halbusi, for his part, said that the Iraqi parliament is preparing a plan to ban cooperation and relations with Israel in order to prevent any possible action in that regard.

The speaker also added that Iran can play an important role in achieving political unity in Iraq due to its spiritual influence among some religious and political groups in the country.

Iran registered positive balance of trade last month: Customs official

Foroud Asgari, the deputy director of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration, said the country exported 3.699 billion dollars’ worth of non-oil products last month while it imported 2.968 billion dollars, IRNA reported on Thursday.

Iran thus registered a balance of trade of +756 million dollars, Asgari said.

The monthly exports registered a 25-percent increase compared to last year, Asgari said.

Exports weighed 8.302 million tons, and imports 2.252 million tons.

The value of imported goods marked a 1-percent increase compared to the same period last year.

Earlier, the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration had announced a record high in non-oil trade in the Iranian calendar month ending March 20. It said that overall monthly trade excluding oil reached 11,538,000,000 dollars on March 20, the highest “in the past couple of years.

According to figures provided by IRNA, Iran exported 48 billion dollars’ worth of products to the world and imported 52 billion dollars in the last Iranian calendar year.

Raisi: Iraq’s parliament plays pivotal role in Tehran-Baghdad synergy

Expressing satisfaction with the good level of relations between Iran and Iraq parliaments, the president noted that the Iraqi parliament can be a place to expand parliamentary cooperation between neighboring states and the region, adding that the Islamic Republic of Iran will not hesitate to help the Iraqi parliament in this regard.

Congratulating the Iraqi parliament speaker on his re-election, the Iranian President expressed hope that Iraqi parliament members would pave the way for the promotion of Iraq’s comprehensive relations with neighboring states, especially Iran.

The President called on the Iraqi parliament to pass the required laws to prevent the formation of factors that threaten the security of neighbors and disrupt the stability of the region.

Describing the cohesion and unity of the various ethnic groups in Iraq as the key to the country’s success, President Raisi stated that creating divisions between or within religions and ethnicities will lead to the enemy’s infiltration and sacrificing the interests of states.

Al-Halbousi, for his part, stressed the need for expanding Tehran-Baghdad cooperation, adding that the members of his accompanying delegation are representatives of different ethnicities, religions, and groups, and their presence means expressing the interest of all Iraqis in strengthening friendship with Iran.
