Mir Hadi Seyyedi, an advisor to Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization, said the agency has started cooperation with a UN affiliated body known as International Trade Center, ITC.

The cooperation, according to Seyyedi, is aimed at supporting Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) so that they can make inroads in the European market.

He said during their stay in Germany, the CEOs used the professional services of Carl Duisberg Center, a German company, to enter the country’s market.

Seyyedi underlined that last autumn, the Trade Promotion Organization called on companies working in the fields of herbal drugs, fruits and vegetables, car spare parts, petrochemical products, IT, and tourism to enroll in the capacity building program.

He said 100 firms enrolled but finally 35 companies were selected for the training program. Seyyedi noted that the project is not over yet and Carl Duisberg committed to support 20 Iranian companies in the marketing program for more than a year.

He said the same program is going to be implemented for knowledge-based companies and that a similar project will be put in place to enter Italy’s market

Iranian daily criticizes senior clerics for ‘contradictory’ remarks on inflation

Iran inflation

During the Friday Prayers sermon, Hojjatoleslam Kazem Seddiqi described as a “divine test” the recent wave of inflation, which has been triggered by a government decision to eliminate the subsidy for imported flour.

“This administration is not a law breaker. It removed the subsidy on the order of the Parliament since a fair distribution of subsides would not have been possible without doing so,” he said.

In turn, interim Friday Prayers leader Hojjatoleslam Seyyed Ahmad Khatami said recently that although the rising prices were “making everyone suffer, we believe the servants are caring,” referring to the incumbent administration officials.

Reacting to those remarks, the Iranian Jomhouri-e Eslami (Islamic Republic) daily on Saturday suggested that the two senior clerics were backing the performance of the incumbent administration, who has failed to contain the prices, while they used to blame rising inflation on official mismanagement in former administrations.

“It would be very good for the gentlemen, who comment on this issue today, to have in mind the comments they made in previous years themselves, so that [the public] will buy their statements amid rising prices,” it said.

“People still remember and media outlets have recorded” those earlier statements.

The daily said being merely “caring” is good but not enough since it cannot change the situation, adding that those in power need to also have the “capability” to tackle the nation’s economic woes.

Iran shows off underground drone base, unveils new missile

Iran secret drone base

An IRIB News reporter was airlifted from an Air Force base in Kermanshah in Iran’s west to the secret base. No camera crew was allowed and the reporter was blindfolded before entering the site, hundreds of meter “in the heart of the Zagros Mountains.”

Inside, he said, over 100 combat, surveillance, and kamikaze drones were parked. While the aerial vehicles were filmed, none of the drone pilots or other technical personnel were authorized to appear on camera.

“The Islamic Republic’s Armed Forces are the region’s top drone power. There is no doubt about that. Because of the types of the drones and the range of the actions they can carry out,” Iran’s Army Commander Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi, who was at the base, told the IRIB reporter.

At a later speech, Major General Mousavi added, “Our greatest achievement is that we are dependent on no one and we procure whatever it is that we need to defend the country and carry out our operations.”

The Iranian Army chief said the upgrading of the military might, including drone power, was “unstoppable.”

Among the drones showcased was the Kaman-22 (Arch-22), which can fly up to a range of at least 2,000 kilometers and carry Haidar cruise missiles, the first cruise missiles to be carried by an unmanned aerial vehicle.

Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Baqeri, who was also at the base, said the site was only “the tip of the iceberg” and much of the military capabilities of the country could not be publicized.

Major General Baqeri said drones were the future of armed combat. “The Army is quickly developing its drone power. New drones are being manufactured in the country that can carry out various missions,” he said.

Major General Baqeri said drones were the future of armed combat. “In today’s combats, drones play an increasingly more important role in different defensive, offensive, ground, marine, aerial, and aerial defense, missions and in… annihilation, surveillance, monitoring, electronic warfare, shipment, and dozens of other missions,” he said.

He praised the Army for achieving the capability to manufacture and operate the drones. “The Army is quickly developing its drone power. New drones are being manufactured in the country that can carry out various missions,” he said.

“We never downgrade a threat, we don’t assume the enemy is asleep, our eyes are open, and we are constantly on the watch,” the top Iranian military commander said.

Iran has recently ramped up its manufacture of advanced drones for defense and surveillance purposes.
