Iranian intelligence ministry thanks Albania for action against MKO

MKO Albania

The ministry said the move by the Albanian police was worthy of gratitude.
The Intelligence Ministry’s statement said that in the days leading up to the raid by the Albanian police on their camp, the “murderous group” did all it could to pull off a terrorist operation in Iran but this attempt was foiled thanks to vigilance and pre-emptive measures by Iranian officials.

The statement further listed a series of actions by the Intelligence Ministry that thwarted attempted acts of terrorism by the MKO including the making of Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) and the use of the bombs against state organizations and public places in the capital Tehran and other parts of the country.

The ministry said a number of the MKO’s members were arrested during the operations.

The statement then warned about the MKO terrorist activities in Western countries, noting that Iran will continue to go after terrorists outside its borders.

The Intelligence Ministry praised the Albanian government’s move against the MKO as a step forward but cautioned that some supporters of the group in Europe and the US are trying to revive this terrorist cult under the supervision of the Zionists.

Albania has been hosting the MKO after the terrorist group was expelled from Iraq a few years ago.

Albanian police raided the MKO camp on June 20, clashing with members of the terrorist outlet. At least two terrorists were killed and three dozen others injured.

Albania’s police entered the MKO’s camp once again on Thursday. Police forces were reportedly stationed at the entrance of the Ashraf 3 camp and controlled all vehicles leaving the camp.

More than 17,000 people have been killed by the MKO over the past four decades.

Mohammad Marandi removed as vice president of Tehran Univ.

Mohammad Marandi

Marandi, whose remarks about the nuclear negotiations with global powers had received widespread attention after President Ebrahim Raisi came into office, was removed officially because of his disagreements with the university over its Alborz Campus.

“They decided to remove me over long-running and fundamental differences over the performance of Alborz Campus and what I regard as the offering of degrees in exchange for money and the discrediting of Tehran University as well as other actions taken outside of the frameworks of the ratifications,” Marandi said.

Marandi has been teaching at Tehran University’s Foreign Languages and Literature and World Studies Faculties and had been vice president for international affairs since October 2021.

Raisi took office in August 2021.

Formerly, Marandi had advised ex-Foreign Minister Javad Zarif and his negotiating team in the course of negotiations that led to a nuclear deal between Iran and six world powers in 2015.

First direct flight from Tehran to Cairo to fly within 45 days

The society said the flight will take a first group of Iranian tourists to Egypt.

Iran and Egypt have not had diplomatic relations since 1980. But Oman has reportedly been mediating between the two countries aimed at the restoration of bilateral ties.

Egyptian officials told The National earlier this year that Oman’s ruler, Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, had paid a two-day visit to Egypt where he had discussed Cairo’s relations with Tehran with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

Sultan bin Tarik later visited Iran.
The reports come after the resumption of relations between Iran and the key Arab country of Saudi Arabia.

Tehran and Riyadh had severed relations in 2016.
Iranian officials, including Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian have welcomed the potential resumption of ties with Egypt.

Iran is the victor in unequal fight with US: IRGC commander

IRGC commander

Alireza Tangsiri said on Sunday that when US forces enter the Persian Gulf, Iranian forces warn them away.

“There is an international waterway in the Persian Gulf but there are no international waters,” Tangsiri said.

“The oil in the Persian Gulf belongs to Iran and its neighbors… When the enemies enter the Persian Gulf, our youths warn them sternly that they have no right to enter this waterway and they hold their heads down and change direction. We are the victors in this unequal fight against the enemies,” he added.

He said Iran would never back away from its interests.

“Ninety percent of our trade is [conducted] via the sea. Even our oil and gas are extracted from the sea [basin]. If we don’t have [naval] carriers and missiles, we won’t have a livelihood either,” he added.

Tangsiri said that during the eight-year Iran-Iraq war in the 1980s, Iranian forces rendered one US aircraft carrier ineffective “with empty hands” in retaliation for the targeting of several Iranian oil tankers and other vessels by the US military.

Albania says MKO not allowed to act against Iran from Albanian soil

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama says the MKO terrorist organization cannot use Albania’s territory as a launchpad for acting against Iran.

Rama said the terror group Mojhhedin Khalgh Organization (MKO) must leave Albania if its wants to engage in anti-Iran acts.

He noted that Albania has been hosting the terror group for several years but it will keep hosting the MKO provided that it avoids any political operations in the country.
Rama said the MKO has violated the condition many times.

The MKO is responsible for bombings and assignations that have killed at least 17,000 people inside Iran in the past.

The terror group also allied itself with Iraq’s former Baathist regime during its 8-year war against Iran and launched two military incursions into the Islamic Republic’s territory from Iraqi soil.

The group had been blacklisted as a terrorist entity for decades by the US. But during Barack Obama’s presidency, the White House removed the MKO from the blacklist to pressure Iran.

The Albanian government has recently attacked the terror group’s base in the country.

Iran, Russia set to strengthen law enforcement cooperation: Police chief

Brig. Gen. Ahmad-Reza Radan made the comments in an interview with the IRIB following a rare visit to the Russian capital, Moscow, earlier this week.

“It can be said with confidence that from now on, relations between the two countries will enter a new phase in the field of security and law enforcement,” added the Iranian police chief.

General Radan referred to the inking of an agreement between Iranian and Russian police forces for law enforcement cooperation during his trip to Moscow.

“Under the document, the General Police Command of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian National Guard Command will promote bilateral cooperation in the field of exchanging experience in law enforcement, protecting important government facilities, fighting terrorism and destabilizing measures, and jointly supporting the fight against crimes,” the top general added.

He pointed to the strengthening of bilateral cooperation in the fight against organized crimes and drug trafficking, saying that Iran “has gained valuable experience by offering 4,000 martyrs in the fight against narcotics, which can be shared with Russia and other countries.”

General Radan warned against growing drug smuggling as a threat to the entire world, and said, “The Islamic Republic of Iran is at the forefront of combating narcotics and this struggle will be helpful to all the countries of the world.”
